I just started a Raptors Association. Anyone know any realsitic ways I can get J.R. Smith in a trade from the Knicks. I was thinkin LeAndro Barbosa made sense seeing as he was doing his best under Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix and would be reunited in New York.

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Hey guys. Just got 2K12 a couple days ago, and am just now getting started on my Association. I'll probably start it tonight, but seeing as the Knicks are playing at 7:30 I might end up starting it tomorrow. Anyways, I'm probably going to be the Bulls, on all the Associations I've done on the past 2K games I've usually been a team that has an average or above average PG and that's what the Bulls bring me.
Guidelines:
12 min quarters
Pro or All-Star difficulty
Will trade/pick up FA as needed
Will use up-to-date rosters, manually for ratings etc...
Will update weekly on how the season is going.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Running a two team association with the Thunder and the Hornets. First season I went to the WCF with the Thunder but lost to the Lakers, Hornets didn't make the playoffs. The Hornets got the 4th pick in the 2012 draft and drafted Perry Jones III and the Thunder drafted Kris Joseph. The second season, took the Thunder to the finals this time and lost in 6 games. In the 2013 draft the Hornets drafted Josiah Turner, the Thunder didn't have a draft pick. Currently in the 2013-2014 season, played out the regular season and the Thunder have the #1 seed in the West and again the Hornets did not make the playoffs, however, they only missed it by a couple of games. Here's the rosters for both teams:
Hornets:
PG - Gilbert Arenas/Josiah Turner/Delonte West
SG - Eric Gordon/Jeremy Lamb/Danny Tinsley(drafted in 2012)
SF - Al Forouq Aminu/Quincy Pondexter
PF - Perry Jones III/Jason Smith
C - Omer Asik/Ronny Turiaf
Thunder:
PG - Russel Westbrook/Reggie Jackson
SG - James Harden/DaQuan Cook
SF - Kevin Durant/Chris Singleton/Kris Joseph
PF - Serge Ibaka/Justin Harper
C - Robin Lopez/DeAndre Jordan/Tyler Zeller
Roster Changes
Hornets
2011-2012:
Signed PG Gilbert Arenas
2012-2013:
Traded for SG Roddy Beaubois from the Mavs, gave a future 1st rnd pick plus cap fillers
Signed C Maurice Speights in the off-season
2013-2014:
Traded C Maurice Speights and SG Roddy Beaubois to Raptors for SG Jeremy Lamb, 2014 1st Rnd Pick and Cap filler center. (Reason for giving up two of my top players was Beaubois was not performing as well as I would've liked and I needed some more rebounding which I could possibly get next year with a strong big man draft class coming in where Speights was averaging about 6 RPG.)
Thunder
2011-2012:
Signed C Robin Lopez in the off-season
2012-2013:
Traded PG Eric Maynor, 2013 1st Rnd Pick and SG Thabo Sefalosha to the Pacers for PF Serge Ibaka (Ibaka wouldn't sign with me in the off-season so I took matters into my own hands, Pacers didn't have a back up PG, Maynor was riding the bench with me. Thabo was mostly a throw in)
2013-2014:
Traded for Chris Singleton and gave up Kendrick Perkins in separate trades, Singleton replaces Thabo as the defender on the team coming off the bench and with Lopez on the team I didn't need both him and Perkins, Lopez is younger and I was able to get rid of Perkins' largish contract and get DeAndre Jordan who would be able to come off the bench and give some energy.
In the 2014 off-season, the Hornets will have $15mil+ in cap room and there are multiple superstar free agents out there such as LeBron, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony, etc. All of my positions (except C) really have guys that I could develop further into much better players namely, Josiah Turner, Eric Gordon, Al Farouq Aminu and Perry Jones III. Not exactly sure what I'm going to do but if I was going to do something in free agency I would likely have to get rid the starter in that respective position to get another guy.
For the Thunder, there isn't much I would change. I am hoping that with a little time Tyler Zeller could step into the starting center position but at this time he is hardly developed.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Decided to start an association with the Nets.
Did one main move, acquired Pau Gasol from the Lakers. The deal was;
Lakers trade: Pau Gasol, Derrick Caracter.
Nets trade: Kris Humphries, Mehmet Okur, '12 1st round pick (Rockets), '13 1st round pick.
It got accepted and I'm pretty sure I haven't short-changed the Lakers. Gasol is perfect for how I want to play and will be key in pick and rolls with Williams. Plus his mid-range game is money.
PG - Williams,
SG - Brooks,
SF - D.James,
PF - Gasol,
C - Lopez.
With such a potent post offense and Williams feeding them I have some high hopes this team could sneak the 8th spot. Brooks and James bring athleticism and the team as a whole can cause some defensive stops.
After one game so far I'm really enjoying playing as the team which adds to the excitement of trying to break the eight spot.Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians
NBA: Miami Heat
NFL: Cleveland BrownsComment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Just passed the midway point of the season, now on my 45th game with the Bulls. My roster is
Derrick Rose/Steve Simpson(Rookie)/Patrick Beverly
Wesley Matthews/Aaron Affalo
Ronnie Brewer/Terrence Williams(Injured 2weeks)
Serge Ibaka/Troy Murphy
Deandre Jordan/Sean William/Kwame Brown
As you can tell there is absolutely no kind of offense except Derrick(28.2) Steve(18.4) but we are the best defense in league allowing 86.3 ppg leading the league in blocks and steals alsoComment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Decided to put my Nets game on hold so that I don't get bored with it and went with the Rockets. I did a trade to get Gasol to them which has been rumoured a lot in real life. Plus I hate Martins shot and it gives them a great post presence with great hands. I also really like him on 2K.
Lakers trade: Pau Gasol, Devin Ebanks, Matt Barnes, Troy Murphy, '12 1st round pick, '13 1st round pick.
Rockets trade: Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, '12 2nd round pick, '13 1st round pick, Jonny Flynn, Jeff Adrien.
PG - Lowry/Dragic,
SG - Lee/Williams/Ebanks,
SF - Budinger/Barnes/Parsons,
PF - Gasol/Patterson,
C - Hill/Dalembert.
The team possess solid defensive skills and thats how I'm going to try and win games.Football: Manchester United
MLB: Cleveland Indians
NBA: Miami Heat

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
i did a fantasy draft as the 76ers using bedwardsroy19's rosters. my team is currently 9-4 and starting to hit a nice groove. i really like this team and i have my offense running like a machine. my line up is:
pg: kyrie irving/earl watson (i have corey joseph and ish smith in the d league)
sg: jr smith/tony douglas/jake robinson (picked him up from the d league)
sf: ronnie brewer/ damien james
pf: lamarcus aldridge/anthony randolph/joey dorsey
c: javale mcgee/omer asik
i LOVE this team. a nice mix of shooters, ball handlers, defenders, rebounders and athletes. aldridge is a beast and is unstoppable. he can post up, drive or hit the mid range shot.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Do you think this is a championsip caliber team.
I am in the third season,in the first i was defeated by clippers in the first round and in the second season i lost to the grizzlies in the second round.
I managed do sign Eric Gordon and trade for Brook Lopez and i think this team could go far in the playoffs
PG:Kyle Lowry 2 times all star, rtg abut 85
SG:Eric Gordon very good SG who constantly scores 20ppg but he is not just the scorer rtg i think 83-84
SF: Chris Singleton "stopper" can defend inside, can defend on the perimeter,a really complete defender, rtg 74
PF:Luis Scola clever inside scorer, decent rebounder, has good jumpshot,33 years old but still capable of scoring 15ppg and 7-8 rebounds rtg about 76-77
C:Brook Lopez one of the best centers in the league, before 20-30 years it was not possible to win it without guys like him, very good inside scorer, can knock it down from midrange, good defender 85rtg
6TH man: Anthony Randolph in my first season he was the 6th man of the year,a really well rounded player,i like him because he can do it all,he can knock shots and he really improved that part of the game, can handle the ball and run the fast break, point forward 6'11'' tall. 80rtg
Patrick Patterson: role player but very important, tough guy he can score inside and play defense, has a nice shot from midrange 80rtg
Tony Allen: another stopper, great defender who brings energy of the bench arounf 70 rtg
Donatas Motiejunas: 7'0'' power forward who can spread the floor beacuse of his shooting ability, can shoot it from anywhere,he could play at pf when scola's contract expire around 72rtg
Will Bynum: a very energy pg who likes to drive the lane, experienced what is important on that pg position
Chandler Parsonsoint forward, clever 6'9'' sf who can shoot it and pass it.
J O'Neal:Experienced and cheap big guys, still can have his role as a good defender decent scorer.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I wanted to see how easy the Kings were to rebuild, so i decided to play with them.
in year one I traded off all the bad contracts (got paul george in the process), leaving me with about 42 million in cap space for the 2012 free agents.
Amazingly, Howard and Paul both opted out, and I was able to sign both of them for max deals. I moved Cousins to PF, and traded hickson+ to the nuggets for gallinari.
King's 2012 Opening Day Roster
PG: Chris Paul/Sebastian Telfair/Isaiah Thomas
SG: Tyreke Evans/Paul George/Manny Harris
SF: Danilo Gallinari/Mickael Pietrus/Donte Greene
PF: DeMarcus Cousins/Jason Thompson/Ivan Johnson
C: Dwight Howard/Mehmet Okur/Ronny Turiaf
not bad for a one year turnaround, eh?Comment
