Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I think this can totally happen in real life. Both Smith and Howard want out, and the Hawks are probably not going to get a better offer than Pierce, a 1st and Bradley. The Hawks are desperate for a change, as Smith is known for his slacking work ethic and they also need a SF(Marvin Williams isnt gonna get you a ring!), so they bring in someone with championship prestige and leadership. It is pretty much a known fact that Howard is walking after FA. I like it. Have fun with Josh as well, I signed him with my hometown 76ers.Comment

2. Wasn't bragging
3 The trades aren't unrealistic. The hawks get a defensive presence in KG and can try to sign to Dwight this summer when KG's contract comes off the books. Thunder get an established clutch sharpshooter for the post season and two future first picks. They would never happen in real life but they aren't unfair at all."Nastiness is required" - Sean Miller, Coach, University of ArizonaComment

Here's our roster/rotation/roles/starting lineup/overalls for the season:
Jrue Holliday-Starter PG 35 min ovr 82
Evan Turner- Starter SG 35 min ovr 81
Andre Iguodala- Starter SF 36 min ovr 86
Josh Smith- Starter PF 35 min ovr 85
Spencer Hawes- Starter C ovr 74
Louis Williams- Sixth Man PG/SG 17 min ovr 76
Thaddeus Young- Sixth Man SF/PF 17 min ovr 77
Nikola Vucevic- Prospect PF/C 7 min ovr 72
Delonte West- Role Player PG/SG 8min ovr 72
Lavoy Allen- Prospect PF/C 5min ovr 70
Terrence Jones- Prospect SF 6min ovr 71
Adonis Thomas- Prospect SF 6min ovr 71
Ray McCallum(SG,67)was sent down to the D-league along with Istvan Dsida(58 but with 2 star trade value), my 1st round, 28th selection from last season. Patric Young(PF,69) is my only reserve.
Here's our first game stats (quick note, Evan Turner is my favorite player on the 76ers & Louis Williams, and we played the Celtics. The Celtics ended up landing Chris Paul in FA, and have Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce also. Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett retired.) : Evan Turner-40 min, 30 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, 4 blocks. (I sent him to shooting camp, etc)
Andre Iguodala- 41 min, 26 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assist, 1 steal, 1 block.
Josh Smith- 34 min, 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, 5 blocks.
Louis Williams- 27 min, 15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals.
Thaddeus Young- 13 min, 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal
Nikola Vuceivic- 27 min(Hawes was in foul trouble)- 9 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block.
Spencer Hawes- 20 min, 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block.
Jrue Holliday(foul trouble+ I prefer Louis.) 22 min, 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals.
Adonis Thomas- 3 min, 2 points, 1 block.
Lavoy Allen- 2 min, 1 steal.
Terrance Jones- 8 min, 2 rebounds, 3 assists.
Delonte West- 8 min, 2 rebound, 1 assist.
As you can see, the love wasnt really spread beyond much. Im not really good with Allen, West or Thomas yet but eventually I'll adapt to their games. Nevertheless, our first game of the season ended in a 125-115 victory.
Key Celtic Stats:
Chris Paul- 40 min, 27 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals.
Rajon Rondo- 39 min, 13 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists, 5 steals, 2 blocks.
Paul Pierce- 39 min, 20 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist.
Im really enjoying Evan Turner. I feel as if he is the face of the franchise now, and in real life he also potentially can be if Doug Collins lets him play his game. This kid is really versatile- and in real life recently combusted all over the Celtics for 26 points. In the Shaq vs. Charles game, he nearly had a trib-dub. Now that he's starting in real life and doing well, I feel as if its realistic for him to be the face of the 76ers in the future.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Hey guys, I signed Dwight Howard in my second year of my association with the Cavs. I was wondering if i should restart. The only reason im weary about it, is that he wont decline his option when i start over.
O, and i figured out if you switch Ramon Sessions to a SG and start him he turns into almost an 80 overall.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Small trades to start up the season as follows:
-76ers receive: '15 2nd round pick
-Raptors receive: Delonte West(69 ovr SG)
Reasoning:I was planning on releasing him because I have a plethora of players begging for his playing time, but why release him & get hit by his cap, when I can receive something and not get hit by it? Delonte adds depth for the Raptors off the bench as they pull a no risk/high reward trade.
-76ers receive: '15 first round pick. Javier Barbosa(54 ovr C)
-Bobcats receive: Cole Aldrich(63 ovr C), Lavoy Allen(71 ovr PF)
Reasoning: I felt as if though we have to many PF/C so I traded them and received a 1st in return. Lavoy will start for the Bobcats, while Aldrich will add depth behind him.
-76ers receive:Kentavious Caldwell-Pope(68 ovr SG)
Raptors receive: Nikola Vuceivic(74 ovr PF), '15 2nd round pick(Raptors)
Reasoining: The Raptors see no need for Pope as they just aqcuired Delonte and are already stockpiled at the position with Xavier Henry and Demar Derozan. They trade him for a PF they really like, while the 76ers continue to diminish their PF/C position. We get richer at SG behind Evan Turner & Rodney Purvis(who I drafted with the 1st round, 4th pick I aqcuired from the Bucks)Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
Is there any benefit to the actual association itself playing the full 82 game season, rather than doing what a lot of people seem to do, and go with 29?
I've gone with 29 right now, however, this is my first 2k game I've picked up since 2k5 so I'm a little bit skeptical on raising the difficulty. I'm on pro right now, and I finished 21-8 with the Kings, so I'm thinking it'd be best to raise the difficulty.
I'm also the type of person that usually likes to play every game, however - if there was some sort of benefit to playing an 82 game season, I'm sure I wouldn't mind simming some games.Comment

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
I decided to start a new franchise using the Golden State Warriors (fantasy draft). I was having a good time with my Durant led Knicks but it became way to easy to score with the durantula and was beginning to get old quick. So I decided on going with a Derick Rose led team of young athletic players after trading away 70% of my draft and all of my picks I got this:
PG: Derick Rose, Jerryd Bayless
SG: Evan Turner, Corey Brewer
SF: Paul George, Marvin Williams, Danny Greene
PF: Josh Smith, Jason Thompson
C: Greg Monroe, Amir Johnson, Eric Dampier
The only move I had to "cheat" for was obtaining Greg Monroe. I had to put the force trade on and adjust DeAndre Jordan's contract. Other than that I wheeled and dealer my draft picks and veteran stars for Evan Turner, Jerry's Bayless, Amir Johnson, and Jason Thompson. Paul George slipped to the 3rd round somehow which I planned on selecting Demar Derozan in. I changed him to a Small Forward and his rating jumped 3 points to an 80 overall. Marvin Williams is my sixth man and is pleased with his role. He spells Paul George and will sometimes play Power Forward when we run a small fast line up. I love using Evan Turner. He is good in many different ways.
Game one of our season is against our instate rivals the LA Lakers, led by the back court of Steve Nash and Eric Gordon. The Lakers came out on fire jumping out to an early six point lead. We were having trouble finding our groove and getting Rose going. Eric Gordon n Steve Nash are killing us from the outside. Jerryd Bayless came off the bench and hit 2 huge 3's and a buzzer beater from the elbow to pull us with in 4 at the end of the 1st. Then in the second quarter Gordon came out on fire. He just continually found himself open from deep and couldn't miss. He pushed them to a 14 point half time lead with 24 points.
After the half it was the same story with Eric Gordon just being a straight assassin from 3. With 6 minutes left in the 3rd I was forced to call a time out and rethink my strategy as we were now down 21. I changed my defensive strategy to "pressure shooters" and switched Paul George on to Gordon. This switch fueled the fast break and shut down everyone but Gordon. But it was enough to get the comeback rolling. Rose was running the fastbreak and dishing out assists at will. This brought us back with in 8 at the end of the 3rd. Rose had 8 points and 4 dimes in that six minute span. Eric Gordon finished with 16 in the quarter and 40 after 3. The fourth quarter we came out on fire Paul George and Josh Smith hitting back to back 3's to get us with in 2. With Rose getting ready for the final stretch on the bench Jerryd Bayless stripped Steve Nash was all alone on the break and pulled up for 3 and drilled it! The hometown Warriors were now up 1. And there was no looking back from there as we didn't release the lead from there on out. Rose hit big bucket after big bucket and shut down Eric Gordon. Eric Gordon was held scoreless in the 4th. We ended up winning by 5.
FINAL SCORE: GSW 93 LAL 88
NOTEABLE STATS:
Rose: 19pts. 9assists 4reb. 2stl.
E. Turner: 14pts. 5reb.
P. George: 18pts. 8reb.
J. Smith: 12pts. 8reb.

J. Bayless: 11pts. 5assists 5rebs.
E. Gordon: 40pts.
S. Nash: 18pts. 12assists

Re: NBA 2K12: The Official Association/Online Association Thread
its too time consuming to play 82 games man, or even half of that. just suck it up and play a 29 game association. i do it all the time and its fun. its long enough to make it feel like a real season, but short enough to keep your interest going from year to year. once you get over the fact thats its not completely realistic, you will have a great time getting deep into an association and actually playing the games, instead of having to simulate all of them.Comment
