      Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

I'm as, if not more, disgusted at 2K12 than Trauma. Everything he said was on point and then some, little point guards like Steve Nash should NOT be jumping a 40 vert and grabbing a 1 handed rebound over Andrew Bynum. That's just stupid. No look steals/deflections and dribbling off your own foot just because I use a speed burst? GTFOH! Just thinking about it makes me mad.

The biggest thing they need to fix is Online Leagues, I spent most of my summer playing in various SIM leagues in 2K11, this summer I will be outside instead of that god awful 2K12. Who's dumb idea was to take custom sliders out the game for online leagues? And that schedule timer? WTF?!

I have been playing 2K literally since the Dreamcast days so I am not a newbie who doesn't know what he's talking about, 2K12 IMO is by far THE WORST BASKETBALL GAME I have ever played. The animations where you just dribble 4 feet out of bounds, really?

It seems like they're more worried about the casual player as opposed to the sim player, as we know how much 2K loves their celebrities and we all know how cheese players such as The Game, Bow Wow, Snoop Dogg, etc, are. Dunkfest all day, no more love for sim gamers.

I think a very beneficial addition to NBA2K13 would be allowing play to continue for a short period of time after the whistle. I believe I mentioned this earlier in regards to diving for loose balls and falling into the scorer's table. However, in this case, I'm referring to the moments when an offensive player is fouled in the act of shooting and while the defense is frozen in place, the offensive player is free to continue his move to the basket. Here's an example:

        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W1_h261QDvE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In the above clip, Magic Johnson is fouled near the free throw line by Rolando Blackman. As such, the defense freezes. In a real game, James Donaldson would have been in perfect position to squash any Magic Johnson scoring attempt. However, as one can see, in this case he is powerless to make a play, sitting frozen as Magic attempts to score on top of his face.

Let me stress the predetermined games online again. I've never seen something as obvious and pathetic as this in a game...ever. I play a game against the Lakers as the Pacers and the kid was blatantly awful. Ran right into my players blindly for contact layups and threw awful lead passes. That's all fine other than the fact that 10/13 contact layups went in and there were lead passes left and right that were somehow making their way through a crowd of 3 Pacers. I basically triple teamed everyone inside the arc because this person didn't shoot threes. But guess what? Again a horrible player who had no idea how to play wins. All game, it was contact layup make over contact layup make. And if that wasn't happening he was running directly into perfect defense by Jones or George and shooting right away...of course making practically every single one. Sessions and Blake got a combined 6 rebounds when Roy Hibbert was in perfect position. Oh ya, can't forget the awesome super dunks! I time a block perfectly with Hibbert but nope, he just stays on the ground while the pathetic, canned animation takes its course as, just like running plays, I will NEVER get rewarded for putting some skill into my game.

I might just have to cop Live next year instead. That's how much of a joke this game is. The 2K series has become every bit as arcade-ey as Live. The difference is that 2K actually has depth and allows you to use it, but penalizes you for anything good you do. If you're not running around with LeBron trying to get canned dunk animations or jacking up threes or sitting in the paint pump faking over and over again, you're not going to win. Simple as that. I guess that's what happens when you got no competition though. You can just put out any piece of trash and get sales since its their only choice.

I do agree with you somewhat about the predetermined scoring runs. Fairly often if feels like this game gives the losing team a huge scoring boost in order to keep the score close. It really feels like the game was made to bail out casual users by allowing them to make terrible contested shots in order to stay in the game. When I play this game, I never quite feel like I'm determining the outcome. It always feels like the game is making certain shots go in so it can cause one of the teams go on a scoring run. Even if one team is forcing bad shots and the other team is getting good shots, the game will find a way to keep the score close. This scripted feeling gets pretty old after a while. I hope in 2k13, they reward good shots more and punish bad shots more. If one team is taking too many contested shots, they should get blown out. The game shouldn't bail them out by making their shots go in. This wasn't a problem in 2k11. In 2k11, the game felt pretty fair. If one team got better shots than the other team, it would be a blowout (which is how it should be). But in 2k12, it feels like a team can play like garbage and still hang around and stay within 5 points of the other team. The outcome doesn't feel like it matches how well the teams are playing. This just makes the game not very fulfilling, because you don't feel like you are really determining what is happening on the floor. It feels like I'm being given the illusion of control, but behind the curtain someone else is pulling the strings to make the game go a certain way.

Ever notice how your freethrows tend to miss when you're winning, but they always seem to go in for the team that's losing? Ever notice that when a team misses a few shots in a row, the next shot always goes in no matter how terrible it is? Ever notice that when a team is winning, they start coughing up the ball and committing turnovers? Ever notice how the losing team always seems to grab more rebounds? Seems a little fishy to me.

The game should be based more on this simple principle: good shots equal success, bad shots equal failure. It's that simple. No more bailing out casual gamers to spare their feelings.

                    Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

My wish for 2k13 is that the association and commentating is dynamic and not scripted. I don’t want to hear a story about D-wade or Dirk while playing the game. I want to hear commentating about the SG for the Heat or the PF for the Mavericks, whoever it may be.

ex. [player name] played at [college, high school, or country] for [X] years where he avg. [X.X][Stat] [time frame].

ex. [nick name or short name] has been [superlative] over the last [(x)gameor time period] [supporting stat(s)]

ex. [player name, nick name, short name][explain performance against][teambeing played][time(frame) of performance][stat to back up statement]

Have something in place (sort of a password policy) to prevent the same piece about a player from being repeated too often.

I would also like to see them recycle talent. The stat are out there. Whileplaying in association I want to see the next Jalen Rose type player come through named Ben Klien. The next Larry Johnson named Yin Lin. Hearing the commentator compare the new bloods game to the old timers.

I don’t want to see Kevin Garnett's face on the Jumbotron 3 years after he has retired. I want to see current premiere player doing something (other thanyelling) on the jumbotron.
I would like to see the next vince carter enter my association with a dunk package that is hidden until he comes into the league has a couple unique dunks. I want to see a SG comein the league and have him constantly compared to one of the greatest player ofall times(other than Jordan) who has recently retired, until the player eitherproves himself great in his own right or flames out trying to live up to thehype.
I would like to see times released iso moves, dunk and layups, free throughroutines, pregame routines, dunk and clutch shot celebrations, that comeattached to new generated(recycled talent) players in association. I would liketo hear the commentator give a player a nickname that sticks ala Kenny Smithgiving Shawn Marion his The Matrix nickname or Vince Cater’s Half Man. HalfAmazing.
In short I want a totally dynamic experience when playing association, as itis now the game becomes too repetitive after a season at best.

I have been saying this since 2K9!!!

There are so many canned animations in 2K that hinder it's gameplay. Sometimes before the whistle players are frozen keep the user from getting rebounds, steals, blocks, even easy shots.

Not to mention, predetermined shots, blks, and steals that we have not control over to stop.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in the mass of previous pages, but I've noticed that there needs to be more long rebounds. Everything in this game seems to go straight up and/or in about a 6 foot radius

That issue with the inability to contest shots after a foul is called isn't a case of canned animations. It's just about losing control of your player completely, without any animations doing so.

                              • Please, please get rid of unnecessary cuts on passes. I just had an instance in My Player where I was wide open on the 3 point line and the CPU was double teaming my teammate in the paint. He passes it to me and I cut to the basket into the defense to receive it. That makes no sense. Why would I run back into the defense when I have a wide open shot? I wasn't even pressing the Left Stick to move or anything. I just pressed "X". This also happens when I pass the ball to my teammates in My Player and Association. They will be wide open after the defense collapses but when I pass it to them, they will either unnecessary cut back into the defense or fade back to the 3 point line even if they aren't a 3 point shooter.

                              • Also, please tone down the defensive A.I. on the opposing CPU's side. I can't stress this enough. It's like 2K does so much to cheat for the CPU and give them an advantage to try and simulate difficulty. Every team plays perfect defense and never makes mistakes in this game. Everyone on their team automatically sucks you into a box out animation after any shot goes up. Even bench PG's on the CPU's team know to box out after every shot and goes 110% on defense on every possession, which is weird because my teammates always leave guys open and don't fight through screens.

                              • Speaking of screens, they need to have a better collision detection. There are too many instances of guys just rubbing off of screens like the screener isn't even there. No animation triggers or anything. Again, this only happens when my teammates set screens. The opposing CPU's screens are impossible to fight through and always result in wide open looks.

This. And when I say this, I mean having full control and making the right combinations to pull off the wanted dunk, and also being able to time it to what we see... In other words, we see - from start to finish - what the controlled player is doing.

...we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...
