    Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread
    • Stop making the CPU boxouts magnetic. Also, when they box you out, you can't move at all, even if you're trying to move in the opposite direction to get back on defense. They even do this at the 3 point line. It's ridiculous

    • Make strength and size mean something outside of backing down in the post. I shouldn't be able to be boxed out by a 6 ft/180 lb PG if I'm a 6'11' 240 lb PF. And he shouldn't be able to body me up down low so that I can't get posting position or set a screen. The off-ball pushing/bumping/suction in MP/CAL is ridiculous. It makes playing a big man almost unbearable.

    • Get rid of the speed bursts the CPU has on defense. They can backpeddle and shuffle their feet faster than I can sprint. Also, they never give up on a play. How in the world can Pau Gasol chase me (a PG with 99 Speed) down on the break and block my dunk attempt? This is unacceptable.

    • Lastly, why is it that the opposing CPU always seems to give 110% all the time, but my teammates don't? The opposing CPU ALWAYS fights through screens and sprints on defense while my teammates play so lackadaisically and jog around screens without even attempting to run their man off of them? You have guys on the other team like Jason Terry and Jason Richardson running from the 3 point line to block shots in the paint on the block but my teammates give up open layups to guys right in front of them and don't even jump for rebounds? The translation of difficulty is so bad. 2K needs to stop giving advantages to the CPU. Stop giving them psychic awareness. Stop giving them speed bursts. Stop enhancing their abilities beyond their ratings. Just let them play us straight up. If we lose, we want to be because we were simply outplayed. I can accept that. It shouldn't be because of unstoppable rubberband AI or shot clock cheese.

Basically you pick the where, and when you want to start your association. For example, you might want to start your association with the cleveland cavaliers from 2003 and forward. so all the rosters from 2003 season will be there, and and LeBron will be in his rookie year, and then you play out your association. also draft classes will be with real players until the present year, when computer starts to make up players. for example, in 2004-05 Dwight Howard will be in the draft, then probably in 2007 and 2008 Durrant and rose will come into the NBA as rookies.

Also, i don't want them togo all the back to the 60s. The earliest you could start your association should be like Jordans rookie year from the 1980s. and if we choose to start our association from the 80s, it should have all the draft classes with real NBA players until the 2013 season. so in 1991 Shaq will be in the draft, and in 1997 Kobe will come into the league, and in 03 we get Lebron, wade..etc. Maybe Jordan will retire with 12 NBA championships, and will continue to ball with the Bulls until 2003, and Magic won't have to retire in 1991, and gets to challenge the BUlls in the finals throughout the 90s. Perhaps Karl Malone will win a title.

I think it would be pretty cool if they did this, i know that Players like Kobe and Shaq may not be with the Lakers, or Tim Duncan with the SPurs, but it would be nice to see where these players get drafted in your association, and how their careers end up.

idk, am just thinking about spicing up the NBA game, my favorite players are getting old, and retiring in first or second year of the association in 2k, or they just suck, and are past their prime. I think this would be awesome, if we get an association mode where we get to play with the current and past players in their prime.

      What you guys think?
I like the suggestion, but honestly I think it would be hard to achieve so many levels of depth in players, arenas, coaches, cities, logos, uniforms, rules, etc. to make it work.

There must be a "historic" constant to it in order to work. Otherwise we are in front of a big "what if" scenario> What if the Sonics never die as a franchise (meaning the Thunder never are to exist), what if the Celtics kept playing at Boston Garden, what if player X was still alive. It's no easy task.
Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.

no "hand holding /welcome casuals" mechanic need to be in 2k13. No while glow that tells you when to release a shot, no super momentum that dumbs down a team to the point where their ratings matter, and BRING BACK PHYSICAL DEFENSE like we had in past 2k's. No more magical sliding out of the way to offensive player can make is pretty layup.

Different layups and jumper types should be far more intuitive. We should be able to shoot floaters from any angle after any move, and the spin layup mechanic should probably be more user friendly (I'd suggest assigning the spin move to a button, at which point you can branch into a layup, jumper, dunk, etc.).

Go back to layup and dunk controls from 2K11. They were FAR better, and I felt more in control. I liked having the hop step dunk control (which was for SOME REASON taken out in 2K12) and spin layups and reverses were far easier to achieve when you just had to pull back on the shot stick.

A lil' tip in your vids, though very indicative of problems we all come into, it'd be easier to get into what you're saying if you played the replay all the way through first, then rewound to slow it down and commentate on it moment by moment.

It's okay for you on your end cuz you know what the problem is before you start recording, but for people watching your vids, the actual meat of the vid takes a bit to get to.

heh...sorry, Some of these videos I merged together from separate replay clips - so sometimes I do an unnecessary intro for each replay because the replays were originally recorded separately. I just wanted to do a bit of intro to set up what I was going to talk about...rather than just playing the clip and having people try to randomly guess what they should be looking for.

Great vids. I have a bunch of saved replays of things like this happening.

You make a really good point in the layups vid. It's so frustrating to have a wide open layup and then the game makes us perform an unnecessary double clutch layup or makes us go up with the wrong hand just to get blocked.

remove this feature because it horrible backfired to the point where help D by the cpu is invisible and sometimes user on ball D is even more invisible.

"Now, we give you an added incentive to play the ball on defense. For one, user-controlled defenders will impact the shot percentages more than an AI-controlled one. When you control the defender and perform hands up defense or jump up to contest, your shot release defense will be higher than just leaving it to your AI teammates."

I want access to all players (Legends, Current and Created) in all modes, always.

I enjoy specific scenarios like the Jordan Challenge, and to a lesser extent, the Legends matchups in 2k12.

I would like to see Street Mode improved. Why do we have to have streetball animations that can't be broken out of, in place of size ups? Additionally, I want more courts for Street Mode; ie bring back all the old ones like Venice Beach, plus Rucker, maybe Rucker in the 70's, allow half court games to be played in a drive way.

Slight segue from the last wish, add detail to the old school arenas. Wooden backboards in the early days, and breakable glass from the 70's through the 90's would be a terrific touch.

And OBVIOUSLY, I want much better Create a Player. I want to be able to edit every aspect of my players face and body. I want to be able to make a 7'1" character in the build of Kareem AS WELL as somebody as big as Shaq.

2k seems to have issues making contact animations when these types of moves are triggered as seen in many videos. Having them on a button is asking for major trouble like the hopstep button of 2k11.

                              Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

I propose classic player signature moment animations. This would largely build what's already in place in terms of classic player's signature dunks, layups, etc. Right now, Michael Jordan dunks like Michael Jordan, Clyde Drexler kicks his back legs up on his dunks like he often should, and Dominique Wilkins has a great double pump reverse.

However, my proposal is to include more specific "moment" animations somewhere within certain player's movement packages. It may be tough in most instances to pin-point exactly what plays help define a current player's career but for the classic guys - whose careers we can now judge as a whole, we have a better understanding of their historic moments. For instance, Shawn Kemp's 2K12 dunk package seems to contain slams that vaguely remind us of Reign Man's exploits. But amongst those slams, how great would it be to play as Kemp and stumble upon this animation during a 2K13 game, including post-play celebration: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T_PzNsUotVI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Other examples would be further fleshing out Dennis Rodman's rebound animations (allowing the rebound kicks to occur more often) while introducing his frequent post-shot-fist-in-the-air celebrations whilst high-stepping down the court and his affinity for dramatic dives for loose balls:

                              <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cRkuPztt8Ok" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I think the idea would be a little similar to the inclusion of special Jordan animations in 2K11, such as his Portland shrug and flu-game Pippen lean. Small accurate animations like that add incredible depth. One of those inclusions in 2K12, Pippen's dunk on Ewing animation, was a huge hit in my house, even though other players aside from Pippen could pull it off:

                              <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2SYmae9FhkQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'd also enjoy seeing Patrick Ewing holding large out-stretched arms to the crowd after a key play:

Many folks have already mentioned Dikembe Mutombo's finger wave (it's in the 2K12 intro video even).

Essentially, I support further fleshing out an already impressive signature style while adding on more specific signature moments animations. On one hand, it's neat to play as Shawn Kemp and come away thinking, "Man, I was dunking hard, just like Kemp would dunk hard." On the other hand, it'd be many times nastier to come away saying, "Did you see how I Lister-Blistered that guy just exactly how Kemp did?" It seems many players have the start of signatures, but they have the potential to be very fleshed out.

I feel a Julius Erving dunk package would be quite a beneficial addition to NBA 2K13. Erving seemed to have unique dunking style thanks in part to his enormous hands. Particularly with Erving, who was one of the primary legends touted in 2K12, I feel a dunk package could very well bring him to life. As it stands now, there's really no other package that fits the bill. As such, using Julius Erving in 2K12 doesn't really feel like using Julius Erving.

                                <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rpTfb9SkKaQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'd recommend the inclusion of dunk #10 (a double pump reverse off one foot, which can be given to Erving in 2K12), variations of dunks #9, 3, and 2 (early palming Statue of Liberty soaring one-handers off one foot), and of course, #1 (the rock-the-cradle from the left wing, different in execution than Jordan's).
