Still don't know why they removed it. Especially since it was a part of the demo. You could go through the combine before the release than just move your prospect over.
You looking at the Chair MAN!

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

I'd like to see rookies with kiddie cartoon backpacks when they come off the bus. Super Important, I know.

I always felt like 2K's association mode didn't do enough to reward players for playing through multiple seasons. After awhile, the lack of character and the increase in bland, generic players with no identity of their own ruins the modes length and kills the motivation to go deep into the game. Here are a few things that I think would fix the problem.

        - Dynamic Storylines:

The one thing that's kind of bothered me about 2K's commentary is that the commentators would always repeat the same story lines over and over. I think they should make it to where they use these lines near the beginning of the season and then have new custom commentary for certain situations.

Example: Let's say a second year player has a breakthrough season on my association. The commentators should mention it with something like "Well, *Player Name* sure is having a breakout season." and have a storyline based on that.

The same should go for the generated players you get through the draft. If they were given more of an identity through commentary, I would have more of a reason to enjoy the mode.

        - Retired Player Jerseys:

The retirement of a player I've used for several seasons should be a sad occasion. The problem is once they've retired, you don't get the satisfaction of honoring the player or even remembering they existed.

2K should add a feature where when a player retires, you should have the ability to retire their jersey so that no other player can ever use it again. Maybe even give them a quick ceremony at the beginning of the season much like 2K already does for championship winners. Adding extra commentary such as "And this is a sad day for the fans as they say goodbye to *Player Name*." would add even more to the experience.

        - Improved Rookie Draft Classes:

One of my biggest issues with the draft is that 2K has the rookies in them rated much too high. Because just about every draft has at least one player rated as an 80 OVR with high potential, the game gets eventually overrun by the amount of superstars in the game.

I think 2K should make it a very rare occasion to see a player rated this high from the start and should instead have more players in the 70-74 range at the top of the classes. Very few rookies are stars from their very first year in the league and should take more work to develop.

        My Player Wishes:

        - Dynamic Storylines:

Basically the same thing I said for Association mode. It feels like My Player is constantly ignored by the commentators and half time show other than maybe one or two specific lines. If I'm making history by grabbing a historical amount of rebounds or am carrying a mediocre team to the playoffs, the commentators should make a point to at least point it out.

        - Better/Smarter Teammates:

My teammates on My Player were always terrible. It felt like anytime we won, I had to score a huge amount of our points just to stay in the game. Teammates who were three point specialists would miss every outside shot they took while the CPU were absolutely unstoppable in the paint.

2K should look to improve the ability of teammates to make shots. If this is somehow not possible, then adding sliders would also work as well. Here on OS, there are some fantastic slider creators who would easily be able to fix this issue given the chance.

        - More Voices:

Right now, every single My Player sounds the same no matter what they look like. If I were to make a foreign player from a different country, he would have the same voice as a player from New York.

This would add even more customization to a mode that has always been solid in this regard. It would allow us to make our character more realistic and less jarring for when the voice clearly doesn't match the player I made.

        Gameplay Wishes:

        - Fix Speed and Transition game:

For teams like the Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors, the ability to run on the fast break is absolutely crucial to their game. In 2K however, the ability for centers to keep up with point guards on the fast break takes away their biggest advantage and forces them to play in a half court style that might not fit their abilities.

Making players like Derrick Rose able to blow by bigs would allow players who have great speed and athleticism dominate much like they do in real life. This would also help out in other aspects of offense if the defense is forced to collapse on the point guard and the point guard gets it to an open player.

        - Better Passing mechanics:

This might be the most important gameplay problem of them all. I understand why 2K made it harder to pass into the paint. They wanted to stop players from cherry picking and throwing passes into heavy traffic that have no business getting to their man. However, the inability to get a pass to go where the player wants it to forces us into bad turnovers that shouldn't be happening.

This ties into the transition game a bit as well. Having a three on one fast break should be two easy points 9/10 times. Instead, the inability to throw a bounce pass to a player correctly causes a routine basketball play to fall apart and end up with a turnover rather than an easy basket. It is crucial 2K fixes this error, or else the game will continue having the same gameplay issues that plagued 2K12.

        Others:

        - Bring back Playoff Mode's fantasy draft:

I have no clue why this feature was taken out of 2K12, but the inability to make a tournament with friends using fantasy drafted teams forced me to go back to 2k11 just for this feature. Hopefully 2K realizes this mistake and fixes it in 2K13.

        - Bring back the ability to have 1 vs. 1/2 vs 2/3 vs 3/ect. matches on Blacktop:

Another feature that confused me when I saw it missing from 2k12. I hope we will see this come back in 2k13 as it was a fun mode to play in.

Not sure how many of my wishes have already been posted, but I hope people agree with me on some of these features. I really feel like 2K should work to improve what they have and by doing so they can make Association Mode and My Player even more enjoyable then they already are.

If 2K can improve on the features that are already in the game and fix some of the bad gameplay mechanics in 2K12, I see no reason why I won't buy 2K13 in October.
Agree with everything that you said. Great post.

I always think it's silly when I create a My Player guy, and have his character voice in my head of what I want it to be, and then he talks and I'm like, "Oh yeah, he still has that creepy neutral voice." Gets me every time.

As to the guy who mentioned the draft combine, I wish they'd add that back in. It wasn't part of the demo in 2k10, it was its own DLC that you had to buy, but I'd buy it again for 2k13 if they had it as it was in 2k10. It'd be even better if they expanded it to having possibly more games or drills or interviews or just anything to be able to up your character's base overall and hype coming into the league. It's redundant to have every player start with a 60-65 overall. It'd be cool to be able to perform well and come in the league touted as the next big thing, and be able to back it up with a solid overall, rather than how it is now, where you're touted as the savior of the franchise, even if you were drafted 27th overall by the Mavericks and come in to the league as a 60 overall.

It would be nice to not be able to supplant a star player as a starter too.

My Player has a lot of potential to be the greatest 'Be a Pro' mode out there, if it isn't already. It just needs some more depth and variety to push it over the top.

          2) Starting line-up announcements
          - in the settings option, users can be allowed to choose between having a regular starting lineup introduction like this game has done recently, or they can have the starters have the introduction show that they normally have to make it feel more real

When's the last time you saw an NBA telecast show the full starting lineup introductions?

                  Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

Here are a few ideas for My Player. Some are fairly common and others are a few things I haven't seen a lot of people mention

                  Presentation/Features:

                  • Better hairstyles/tattoos: This has been a request for a few years. Some of the hairstyles are so unrealistic or flat out bad. Same for tattoos. A good idea would be to let us wear certain players' hairstyles. Like if we want the Amar'e cornrows, the Kobe balding taper, or even the Martell Webster whatever-the-heck-that-is-on-his-head hairstyle. Same goes for tats.

                  • Improve name recognition: What I mean by this is that if we choose a name for our My Player that is in the database, the announcers, as well as David Stern should refer to us by our full name sometimes instead of just our last name or "The [insert age here] [insert position here] from [insert college here]." I'm sure Stern's was made to pronounce all of the names at some point. So it shouldn't be hard to just clip together two voice clips to pronounce our name when we get drafted. Also, please try to expand the list of available names. Just carry over the old voice clips from 2K12 and add new ones for 2K13.

                  • Draft Position: This one is a big one and is probably deals more with gameplay. For some strange reason, in My Player, one is not able to be drafted in the 2nd round or go undrafted. I did an experiment where I played as horribly as I could, and I still ended up going in the first round despite scoring no points, committing double digit turnovers and missing like 20 shots. If that's not bad enough, the team that drafted me (Dallas) still put up a billboard like I'm going to be their new franchise player. My point is this, expand the drafting a little bit and make the welcome we receive from our drafting team be relative to our performance in the rookie showcase (since we don't have a college career to look at). The opposite should also stand. How is it that I can outplay every rookie in the rookie showcase and still go 7th at best? I know that, like the announcers say, the scouts take the draftees' college careers into greater consideration than that one game, but it's kind of unfair to us because we don't have a college career to go off of. Make the drafting dynamic. Me and Kemba Walker shouldn't both be able to be the 9th pick. Switch it up sometimes.

                  • Another cool (yet controversial) feature would be to have us have the ability to be traded against our will, under certain circumstances of course. If we continually bash the team or organization, don't practice (drills), and are hurting the team more than helping, we should have a little note that pops up in the "Rumor Mill" section that talks about us being traded. Then, reporters can ask us about it. Of course, the only way this feature can successfully be pulled off is if the trading logic is DRASTICALLY improved.

                  Gameplay:

                  • Improve Coaching AI: For some reason, my coach thinks it's cute to play me (a rookie) 44+ minutes per game while the star of the team (Kevin Love) plays about 34 at best. On another My Player I had. I was playing 43+ minutes per game while Dwight Howard was playing barely 36 minutes per game despite the fact that he AVERAGES over 38 minutes per game for his career, and was only averaging about 2 fouls per game during my season. It really only happens when we sim though. The rotations get all out of whack, and you end up playing insane minutes while the other starters barely even play.

                  • Improve Trading Logic: The trading logic is horrendous, even in Association. But in My Player, it's worse because we don't have any control over which trades are made. It's not that we don't want our teams to make trades, or teams don't make bad trades, it's that we want our teams to use a little bit of common sense when making trades. No team would trade their only starting SG for a PG when they already have 3 on the roster. Things like that kill the mode.

                  • Improve Teammate AI: This could have entire post dedicated to it, but I'll keep it brief. Our 2K12 My Player teammates are only slightly better than our 2K11 My Player teammates in that they make shots a little more often (most of the time). They still don't play like their real life counterparts, and they still lack basic intelligence. For example, when using my Power Forward My Player, sometimes I would have a mismatch on offense. For some reason, a PG or SG would take it upon themselves to guard me. Why won't my team run a post up play for me? They will just jack up a contested shot or stand there and dribble the ball in place for 12+ seconds while I'm posting up (and somehow getting pushed around) by a PG/SG. The opposing CPU doesn't have this deficiency. When one of their bigs has a mismatch, they immediately post him up and let him go to work. Why can't our teammates have this simple awareness?

                    Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

I'm at my wits end with how my blasted point guards refuse to pass to me when I'm open in My Player. I cut to the hoop, no one around me, my defender stuck in the jumble I caught him in...and I press X to call for the ball...and nothing. As my defender recovers or someone rotates (very rare), I press it again...and get a "Bad Call Pass" negative Teammate Grade for my troubles.

The defense then recovers...and then my point guard decides it's no longer unfair to pass me the rock cuz I'm unguarded and passes it not...only for the pass to get picked off an intercepted by my defender.

                    Oh happy day.

Really love to not see that so bloody often in 2K13.

                      Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

Has anyone else noticed that when you try to make a pass to a player that's near the paint, he always bobbles the ball first if he's not in a post up animation? Like even if there isn't a defender near, and he has a great "Hands" rating, he'll still bobble it for a second giving the defense just enough time to recover? That needs to go.

Also with the passing, whenever I'm trying to pass to a teammate that's on the low block that's not posting up, it's like I'll almost throw the ball away. Like I'll literally throw it to the defender instead of my teammate, and my teammate makes absolutely zero effort in trying to get to the pass. I have over an 80 in the "Pass" attribute, but I think it was added in the game because of people complaining about lead passes into the paint in 2K11. But that's a horrible way to deal with it. I shouldn't have to throw it to the defender because my teammate isn't posted up.

                        Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

Let’s see, I would like to add stuff I would personally want, but the game is amazing how it is. The difference between this game and Madden is, NBA 2K is already amazing, all they need to do now is add features as the gameplay is so beast. Madden still has a lot of work to do, so keep it up 2K. Okay, here is my 2 cents on the subject.

                        My Player Mode
                        - Cannot start at least until your rating is very close or over the person you are battling the position with. Maybe depending on who the starter is, he influences certain ratings, as if you had Jason Terry starting ahead of you, he would influence your 3 point rating by +2 or so, unless you want to keep the shoes. Either way is fine, just a different aspect.
                        - No matter how bad I try to be to see if I can get in the second round, it won’t happen. I always end up on the Mavs and I can’t go any later. Maybe based on how well you do, points, assists, stats wise, that’s where you’ll end up in the draft. Im sick of getting the same interviews with the same teams.
                        - Instead of interviews, or added onto the interviews, have a media day where you answer questions from the media, make it seem like you really are coming into the NBA.
                        - Bring back My Crew if it’s possible. Even with the hackers, I still like it better than what is there now.
                        - Incorporate the three point shootout and dunk contest during the season. MORE TROPHIES! And for everytime you win the Championship, in your trophy room it shows a ring, each custom made for that season you won.
                        - Less crazy trades. Realism needs to be at its finest and I know there are trades in the season, but no way Dirk would leave Dallas and be traded for Garnett.
                        - Fix little things, like if you alley-oop it, and it touches a defender’s hand but the teammate still gets it and dunks it, it should not be a bad pass. Things like that.

                        Association Mode
                        - First of all, definitely have a 3 point shootout and dunk contest. It’s the one thing missing that would complete this game.
                        - For awards, let’s say you pick the Heat and LeBron wins the MVP title, during the playoffs, show in the beginning him receiving the award, and do this for all the others.
                        - During in-game, actually show the commentators before the game commentating about that night’s game, and just like in College Hoops 2K, you can do a little practice session before the game with everyone in their warmups. Now that you have certain stars beginning celebrations, such as LeBron and his powder thing, actually look at every single team’s entrance and use it in game so it is as authentic as an NBA game could be.
                        - Also, during halftime maybe have someone on the floor interview one of the coaches (at random), and then after the game have them interview the player of the game or someone that struggled. Now it doesn’t have to be every game (that would get old) but do it now and then to keep things interested.
                        - If you just did an amazing dunk or play, and you want to send it to friends, have an option where you can save it right there and send it to a friend or something with the click of a button instead of having to go back and share it.
                        - Have a theatre mode, where you can come in and watch 2 friends play or just watch randoms play and enjoy the show. Some people might enjoy that.
                        - During the playoffs, or any game for that matter, let’s say Rondo has a bad game and starts getting frustrated, have him do a frustration foul if it’s possible, depending on how furious he gets. Something like that.

Well this is a wishlist, and I know that’s a lot, but I could add even more haha. I’ll stop right here though. A guy can only dream to have all of this incorporated into the game, I would be happy if any of this made it, which I have a good feeling the 3 point shootout and dunk contest will make it. These are just my suggestions so yeah =)

                          Re: Official 2k13 Wishlist Thread

I was watching the Celtics vs Sixers game the other night. I'm a C's fan, we lost and I don't know how, we totally controlled the first half but let it slip in the second.

                          ANYWAYS, 2K13.

Now, I didn't buy 2K12, I heard it wasn't that much different from 2K11 so I stayed with that and just updated my rosters on here (thank you OS users). So some of the stuff I "wish for" might be included in 2K12.

                          Rajon Rondo Tricks

Watching the C's the other night and in other games, straight off the tip off, when the Celtics get the ball, Rondo does tricks with the ball in the C's court.
So he bounced the ball using his knees, I've seen him let the ball bounce off his head. And I'm always seeing him walk up the court with the ball.

                          Personality Traits

So maybe some personality into players would be cool. Like their own personality traits. LeBron when he is standing by Wade who's taking free throws, Bron has his mouth guard out and he's playing with it.

                          Playcalling

Another thing is I'd like to see players call their plays. When Rondo walks up the court, he's always pointing and gesturing for what play he wants to run. I want to see that!

                          Accessories

Something annoying I found on 2K11 is that you can't change the colour of the equipment. So for away games players might wear black knee pads and arm sleeves, but then at home they might wear white knee pads and arm sleeves. That'd be cool to have in 2K13.

                          Injuries

On 2K11 when a player is injured everyone stands on the other side of the court it seems. But in real life situations, when a player is seriously injured on the floor, teammates, coaches, even the other teams players come over to make sure the guy is alright and there's a huge stoppage in play with replays of the injury. That'd be nice to see, rather than nobody doing anything and the guy limping off the court alone.

                          Celebrities!

Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg, Spike Lee, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck, Lil' Wayne, Tom Brady at a Celtics game would be cool! Hell even Larry Bird in attendance for a Pacers game and Bill Russell at a Celtics game. It's just cool to see!

That's all I can think of at the moment! I don't think what I'm wishing for is too far out of the question. And besides, it might already be in 2K12, if it is then, 2K, good work!

                          Thanks!

in 2k12 everyone seems to have quick releases even kobe bryants release is quicker than ray allens . In 2k13 we need the same variety of releases we had in 2k11 with real release points. Also return sig releases. Paul pierce had this set 3pt release in 2k11 but not in 2k12. Kobe had his sig in 2k11 but not in 2k12. this needs to return.

                              Fix the clutch factor

Too many times the A.I. goes on invincible runs. I understand in real life games it happens but they at least make shots & still play team defense. When the CPU starts to come back it feels the sliders are set to 0. They really need to improve on this & it's been a problem for years, highly doubt it ever gets fixed though.....

                              -Improve Franchise Mode

This mode could be great if more things were implemented & I believe this mode should be the #1 major improvement to work on. Just because I can't get a certain player by myself it shouldn't render the trade useless which is why so many big player acquisitions usually result from a trade partner to assist. How can you call yourself the best NBA simulation game while completely ignoring 3-4 team way trades? After year 1 or two it gets boring very quickly, if you add in 4 way team trades, bidding wars, being able to outbid & make realistic trades it could be huge for the hardcore gamers. What they need to do is put in the mother of implements & add in a REAL franchise mode.

I'm talking about what they did in Madden 07. If it's a franchise I shouldn't be just tied down to firing & hiring coaches, give me the option to control the outlook on a team. Let me be James Dolan & handle the ticket prices, promotions for games, marketing for games, setting up players for interviews, dealing with in house problems/chemistry problems, etc, etc, etc. Not sure if they do this in MLB the Show but if they do NBA 2k needs to take some notes from them. It really boggles the mind how they have had franchise mode for years but it's not much of a franchise mode.

                              -Improve the Dribbling

While I love what they did with dribble moves this year it needs to be more smoother. Players like Rondo & Rose FEAST on defenses so why should it be different in a video game? They look at what Elite 11 was attempting to do & use parts of it in 2k13. Training Camp really helped me getter better at crossovers but when you have to string 3-4 moves just to pass a defender then it's really too much. One thing I did love was the jab step moves though. They should add more, loved it.

                              -The All Star Weekend

This is something that always brightens up the league every February yet so far in the 2k series it's been mundane & it's become pretty damn obvious in the franchise mode. You tell me that I select a franchise team, have a couple of players who put up big numbers, I'm ecstatic as a gamer because of the hard work I put for them to get selected then I see some bullsh*t accomplishment reward point that they got selected, I start up that game, the intro's are the same sh*t as a regular exhibition game, then the ASG is over?

If that's the case what the fu*k is the point of having All Star Game in 2k? No, they have to go all out & I understand that there's a memory limit with the games every year but they have to do better. I want to see highlights from the regular season, I want to see crowd interaction, I want to see the players clowning around, I want to see them clowning shooting practice shots before the game starts. While some might see this as a lot is it really? Of course you'll have the option to skip all of that but at least it's better than seeing the same boring sh*t over & over. I mean they don't even put highlights in the regular season games but that's for another part. Let's see some hype & presentation for the 3 point contest, the ASG & the dunk contest which I'll speak on right now.

                              -Fix the Dunk Contest.

One thing that EA always had over 2kSports was the dunk contest. If you were chillin at your boy's crib & popped in NBA Live 05 you already knew it was exhibition games or the dunk contest. It was fun, it was over the top, it was crazy, it was exciting......which is everything the dunk contest in 2k isn't. For me I've had a huge problem with the dunk contest, skills competition & 3 point shootout not being in the franchise but I've had a bigger problem with the sprite dunk contest flat out sucking.

                              -Add boos for vilified players

Not gonna really go in depth about this, all I will say is if NBA Live had this implemented so should NBA 2k.

-Go back to the old start up game intro's

                              2k4, 2k5, 2k6

                              Nuff Said.

                              -Implement a halftime show

ESPN NFL 2k5 started off good but 2k13 can expand even further. Have analysts speak on the team, other teams around the league, trade rumblings, etc. Let's not act anymore like these companies don't have the resources to add this. This can be done but it's a matter of how hard do they want to please the consumer. This could def. push 2k13 over the top.

                              -Fix the Player Models

Why in the hell is it that the models for regular players already in the game look smooth as butter but created ones still look like generic zombies? Enough is enough already we had to deal with the infamous red faces they need to get off their asses and give us some more leeway with model customizations. It gets tiring seeing the same limited hair styles every year yet Deron Williams has smooth wavy hair.

                              Cmon now.

                              -Improve on accessories

This has also been a problem for years from the tattoos to awful quality on sneakers (I see you Air Jordans) down to lack of colors & textures on headbands. Once again they need to look at what Live did for years and implement some of it or all of it.

                              -More Jerseys

This has been a huge problem for YEARS, get on this ASAP 2k.

I could spend all day listing problems they need to fix on but these are the real big ones.

                              Edit:

Alright I decided to say fu*k it & unload some more issues to be fixed lol.

                              -Improve player movement.

Good lord there is a mess of clipping & sliding still in 2k12, please for the love of god fix this 2k.

                              -Fix the 3 point shooting

Previously in 2k games players who could legitimately shoot the 3 ball had a 3 point shot now you got guys like Landry Fields with 3 point icons next to them. Please fix this.

                              -Improve Myplayer

Give us a better range of questions, include our my player into what's going on in the NBA. There's no way that I can have a player leading the league in assists yet I don't get mentioned. My name will be shown but I'll be completely disregarded. Also go more in depth with Myplayer by letting us have a house, let us spend money on things, let us really negotiate our contracts. The final part on improving Myplayer is IMO the most realisitic:

                              Upgrade the menu.

What I mean by this is actually have blog articles about my player along with other players, teams around the league, coaches, etc, etc. Also we need to be able to fire or hire agent's, have a twitter to gain followers or have followers unfollow. We need to make Myplayer fun & entertaining, of course it's about playing basketball, getting to the HOF but 2k needs to realize that the NBA is bigger than that.

They need to remember these guys have a life outside of playing basketball, they go out, they interact with fans, they train in the offseason & in-season, they have houses, they have problems with players & coaches, they demand trades, they get traded without even demanding a trade, the fans really let players have it if they have been a douche all season or if said player just hasn't had a good season.

Once 2k realizes this the better.

                              -Arena Sounds.

I have been wanting to see improvements on this for a while now. What they should let us do is be able to have our own custom songs spliced & clipped into games. Say for example I want Otis playing at a certain part of the game, I don't want Otis to start from the beginning of the song instead I might just want it to start at Photo Shoot Fresh Looking Like Wealth & then maybe let it fade after 3 or 5 seconds. Give us the option to really customize the music & customize the way it incorporates in the arena.

More team celebration more interaction with refs how about celebs in the crowd have a cut scene for that. post game interviews. weekly highlights. animations for when pg call plays. If a player gets injured have him walk to the locker room like at halftime. Show commentators from time to time. Please have mouth guards. More sneakers for Nike id. Brang back sweat. Players on the bench drinking gatorade put the warmups back on with towels over they're heads. There is a lot of gameplay stuff also but everyone has made good suggestions so I won't repeat but please tone down the canned animation on body contact dunks and layups
