Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
I see a lot of people complaining about the stats in Association. Even myself, I had Lebron James lead the NBA in ppg with 38 after Wade went out for the season. All...well most of these stats can be fixed with roster changes. Shot tendencies and coaching sliders all play a part in getting the stats you want. Just messing around, I made it possible for Derrick Rose to average 25 and 8 when he usually averages 29 and 6. Obviously it's not gonna be perfect as the minutes per game and blocks are broken, but you can still get guys to average their correct ppg (tendencies and touches), rebounds per game (increased tempo and lower FG percentages increases rebounds as well as decreasing and increasing certain guys rebound rating) and assists (touches and tendencies) just to name a few.Tags: None -

Has 2k nobody on his payroll to check this(2k insider...)????
I know nothing can be perfect but with default roster the stats are a completely mess.Boots..........To ASSES!!!!!! -

There is a bug in Association that counts the stats wrong. For example, when I look at my team's individual stats (and I played those games myself) then I see some reasonable numbers for team steals, assists and rebounds. But when I check the league stats of the whole season so far, those numbers are totally skewed.
I average more than twice as many assists/game as a team, as I score in all of my games. There are just some calculations gone very wrong. And this is what really should get dealt with because it can't be a very complicated issue.Comment

Team stats are still bad though. I'm still seeing teams with 100+ games played in one season.Comment

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
Yeah there is a completely different issue than the "simulation" stats mentioned in the OP's post. Most of us are upset over the bug/glitch mentioned above where stats are erroneously calculated along with messed up records.
My guess is that the code work involved with fixing these calculations is too great to overcome in a patch. Otherwise it would have been fixed because its one of the more glaring issues with the game.
A response would be nice but every time a thread like this is made is gets locked or tossed in the black hole of the bugs/glitches thread or impressions.PS4 - CoastalRyan

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
The OP is correct that many statistical inaccuracies can be corrected with tendency and attribute changes. Heck, I just spent about 6 hours yesterday (after downloading the latest rosters and patch) editing basically every attribute, signature style, accessories, etc.
Where the OP is incorrect is that there are a multitude of statistical problems that cannot be fixed and are simply errors in the game. Here is a list of what I have noticed...
1. Point Guard assists - in 2K12, star point guards do not average enough assists per game. Deron Williams, no matter what you tweak to his attributes and tendencies, will not average more than 7 or 8 assists. If you lower his shooting tendency (which puts him at about 14ppg, ie: unrealistically low), he can potentially be bumped up to 8.5 or 9 but even that's too low and you now have the added problem of him not scoring nearly enough. Chris Paul is essentially the same. Steve Nash as well. It's a glitch.
2. Big-Man blocks - much like assists for star point guards, you will see the league leader in blocks per game usually at or below 2.0 when, in reality, it should be closer to 3 - 3.5. You can edit a player like Dwight Howard or JaVale McGee to give the absolute highest BLK rating and "challenge shot" tendency, but it doesn't seem to matter. (And no, they aren't averaging too few minutes due to foul problems if that was your next question)
3. Minutes per game for....everyone - everyone is aware of this problem which is why I was so shocked it wasn't fixed in the patch we've been anxiously awaiting. Player minutes seem to be capped at about 35 per game for even the brightest of NBA superstars. Sure, some superstars DO actually average 35 or less (Kobe, for example) but Durant sure doesn't. Conversely, bench scrubs are always given rotation minutes, no matter how low they are on the depth chart or how bad their ratings are. This takes away from players who actually need and deserve more minutes. The only way to fix these problems is to user-control all 30 teams, but honestly, that's just not fair to ask of even the most hardcore 2K gamer.Comment

The only issues in Association that aren't related to rosters are the statistical bugs in team stats. It would be nice to have star players get more MPG, but I've seen them around 36 MPG when the OVR ratings are set to more realistic levels for the entire league.Comment

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
Does anyone have any recommendations on on association stats rosters that are out there?....I hate to say it but I think that the only fix again is user control all 30 teams and put a lot of it on automate.
You've got to increase game tempo through coaching profiles as well as control shot tendencies and min."Don't complain about the show if the ticket is free."Comment

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
Please, please, please, if you know the secret to making PG's average 10 assists per game without dropping shot tendency to 0, please share it, because I have tried everything I can think of and CP3, Nash, and Williams can't manage 8 APG with 36 MPG, regardless of coaches and coach profiles, playbooks or any other tendency changes. Deron Williams (10+ APG the last 4 seasons) is often under 6 APG! Nash (league leading 11.4 APG last season) is around 7. I just don't get how the effort put into the roster is so poor.
The only other thing I have observed to have an affect is teammates. Put one of those great PG's on the Mavs and they can manage 10 APG. Kidd, with his erroneously low shot tendency, leads the league in APG by far every year, when in real life he's around 8. The Grizzlies PG is also mysteriously always a top assist man. Michael Conley averages 8.5 APG (6.5 in '11) despite not having a passing rating to warrant it.
youALREADYknow, if you're going to claim it's not hard to get star PG's putting up reasonable assists, please share the method for doing so.Comment

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
The Touches tendency distribution across the league (and team) is the key to getting realistic stats. I've shared as much as I can throughout this forum and you can feel free to search for past threads and my Google Docs spreadsheet in the Rosters section for tips.
Touches are at 50 and 25 because it separates scorers from non-scorers without guys putting up 30-40 shots per game. I know it doesn't look like it would work, but it does consistently. I've tried A LOT of different combinations, and for the rest of the edits I do, those are the best for gameplay. I don't think the touch rating has anything to do with sim stats. Did you check out the google document above with results from a season I simmed and/or have you played a game or watched a cpu vs. cpu game with them?
The sim stats for blocking, assists, and rebounding have been like that for at least the last two years (I edited rosters last year and didn't release them). You can put a player's D Awareness, Block, Vertical, and Contest Shot Tendency ratings all to 99 and they won't average more than about 2 blocks a game.Comment

Re: Association Stats are a ROSTER issue
Touches translated to simmed stats in 2K11. The reason I know is because my Touches (based on usage) always tranferred over to the Metric Stats category of Usage. So I am not sure if this has changed in 2K12, but I know it worked in 2K11.
And as far as blocks, that is incorrect. I have seen Dwight average 2.8 blocks in a season during my 2K11 Seasons. Not sure where that information came from.Comment
