Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Not sure if this will interest anyone, but I just simmed one season to get to the draft and did CPU trades on just to see what kind of ridiculous trades happened in the season. This is a perfect example to anyone who thinks that their Association will be fine without 30-team control. Again, I had no say whatsoever in these trades, just the CPU logic. Some of these are just mind numbingly stupid. I am looking at these for the first time as I type them up, so in parenthesis is my initial reaction. Also, I included the entire draft I had for anyone who may want to see a live-draft result. Enjoy guys.
11/18
Suns Trade: Grant Hill, '12 2nd Round Pick
T Wolves Trade: Wesley Johnson, Anthony Tolliver (Haha, Johnson for Hill)
12/9
Suns Trade: Shannon Brown, Channing Frye
T Wolves Trade: Martell Webster, JJ Barea (most realistic of all of them, still bad though)
12/10
Warriors Trade: Ekpe Udoh, Earl Barron
Nets Trade: Marshon Brooks, Johan Petro (WTF??? Giving up Brooks for Udoh?)
12/12
Suns Trade: Steve Nash, Michael Redd
76ers Trade: Evan Turner, Andres Nocioni (smh...)
12/19
76ers Trade: Elton Brand, '13 1st Round Pick
Hawks Trade: Kirk Hinrich, Marvin Williams (Really??)
12/23
Pacers Trade: Darren Collison, '12 2nd Round Pick
Bucks Trade: Stephen Jackson, Larry Sanders (haha...wow)
and
Pistons Trade: Jason Maxiell, '13 2nd Round Pick
Jazz Trade: CJ Miles (cause, you know, DET needs another guard)
12/30
Pacers Trade: Dahntay Jones, Louis Amundson
Nets Trade: DeShawn Stevenson, Jordan Farmar (not even sure about this)
and
Kings Trade: John Salmons
Bulls Trade: CJ Watson, Kyle Korver (Bulls most have missed Salmons, lol)
1/3
Pistons Trade: Tayshaun Price, '13 1st Round Pick
T Wolves Trade: Anthony Randolph (lol... DET giving up most likely a high 1st rounder for Anthony Randolph)
and
Hornets Trade: Al-Farouq Aminu
Nets Trade: '12 First Round Pick, Shawne Williams (again, a high first rounder for a subpar player. Perfect for a rebuilding team...not.)
1/6
Warriors Trade: Andris Biedrins, Brandon Rush
Hornets Trade: Emeka Okafor, '12 2nd Round Pick (haha no words)
and
Rockets Trade: Patrick Patterson, Jeff Adrien
Hornets Trade: Eric Gordon (WTF????? OMG WOW! Ridiculous! Probably the worst trade of life)
1/16
Bobcats Trade: Tyrus Thomas, Boris Diaw
Pistons Trade: Rodney Stuckey, Charlie Villanueva ('Cats get a nice player in Stuckey, but Villanueva's contract not good for rebuilding team. Also, DET already has a good PF, why they need 2 more?)
1/20
Cavs Trade: Alonzo Gee, Ryan Hollins
Hornets Trade: Carl Landry, DaJuan Summers (not much reaction here)
and
76ers Trade: Jrue Holiday, Craig Brackins
Blazers Trade: Nolan Smith, Luke Babbitt (c'mon now. Really guys?)
1/23
Cavs Trade: Antawn Jamison, Samardo Samuels
Raptors Trade: Jose Calderon, Aaron Gray (Cavs already have good PG, and Raps gave away their starting PG basically for an expiring contract. Maaayybe can see that from Raps side)
1/25
Suns Trade: Jared Dudley
Thunder Trade: '12 First Round Pick, Nick Collison (not great, but serviceable I suppose. Not as bad as others.)
1/27
Kings Trade: Marcus Thornton, Travis Outlaw
Nuggets Trade : Nene, Kenneth Faried (No reaction)
and
Hornets Trade: Trevor Ariza, '12 1st Round Pick
Cavs Trade: Tristan Thompson, '12 2nd Round Pick (Not bad trade from NO perspective, but wow Cavs giving up on Tristan Thompson already)
2/2
Cavs Trade: Ramon Sessions, '13 1st Round Pick
Pistons Trade: Brandon Knight (again, rebuilding team giving up on high 1st round pick from year before. Why so soon?)
2/3
Pacers Trade: David West, '12 1st Round Pick
Grizzlies Trade: Zach Randolph (wow, I don't see Grizzlies doing that EVER)
and
Nuggets Trade: Aaron Afflalo
Thunder Trade: Nazr Mohammed (lol, one of the weirdest straight up trades ever)
2/5
Hornets Trade: Xavier Henry, '13 1st Round Pick
Pistons Trade: Greg Monroe (SMH... Really? DET has now traded away all three of their decent, young pieces in Stuckey, Knight, now Monroe. It's like they are rebuilding their rebuild haha)
2/6
Grizzlies Trade: Michael Conley, '12 1st Round Pick
Kings Trade: Tyreke Evans (WTF?!?!?!? No way that just happened!)
and
Hawks Trade: Joe Johnson, '13 1st Round Pick
Hornets Trade: Chris Kaman (Wow, trying to 1-up the last trade's absurdity. Hawks Trade away their franchise player and next year's 1st to add Chris Kaman as a backup to Smith/Horford?? lol...wow)
2/7
Bobcats Trade: Gerald Henderson, DJ White
Hawks Trade: Joey Graham, Willie Green (why make the trade. Just a scrub trade)
2/13
Cavs Trade: Anderson Varejao
Warriors Trade: Jeremy Tyler, Kwame Brown (no reaction, really)
2/21
Rockets Trade: Luis Scola
Magic Trade: Glen Davis, JJ Redick (a stretch, but maybe can see that)
2/22
Pacers Trade: Tyler Hansbrough
Pistons Trade: '12 2nd Round Pick, Austin Daye (DET makes one more pick before the deadline. Essentially replaces Monroe with Hansbrough. As a funny side note: Think about some clean cut white boy like Hansbrough having to live in rough and tough Detroit. LOL. Sorry, just a random thought.)
So as you can see, obviously, the CPU Trade Logic is completely absurd. I saw MAAAYYBE 2 trades that make even the slightest bit of sense. However, there was one more big trade during the draft that just made me go... WTF?
Raptors Trade: 1st Overall Pick
Cavs Trade: Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gibson (WHAT?? The Cavs have already traded away the 1st and 4th overall picks from the year before. Ridiculous. However, they did end up with Trevor Ariza, and the first 2 picks in this year's draft. Here is the entire draft results:
Round One
1. SF Harrison Barnes, Cavs
2. SG Bradley Beal, Cavs (was projected as 12th overall, lol)
3. PF Perry Jones, Suns
4. PF Anthony Davis, Kings
5 SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kings
6 PF Jared Sullinger, Wizards
7 SF Terrance Jones, Rockets
8 PF Andre Drummond, Pistons
9 PF Thomas Robinson, Hornets
10 SG Austin Rivers, Wolves
11 SG Jeremy Lamb, Nuggets
12 PF John Henson, Bucks
13 PF Arnett Moultrie, Nets
14 PG Myck Kabongo, Grizzlies
15 SG Doron Lamb, Pistons
16 SF Khris Middleton, Hawks
17 PG Scott Machado, Knicks
18 SF Jeff Taylor, Bobcats
19 SG John Jenkins, Raptors
20 SG Tomas Satoransky, Spurs
21 PG Damian Lillard, Mavs
22 SG William Buford, Jazz
23 PF Mouphtaou Yarou, Spurs
24 PG Tu Holloway, Lakers
25 C Tyler Zeller, Clippers
26 PF CJ Leslie, Thunder
27 PF Quincy Miller, Warriors
28 SF Draymond Green, Bulls
29 PG Marquis Teague, Heat
30 PF Augusto Lima, Celtics
Round Two
1 SG Darius Johnson-Odom, Kings
2 PF Kevin Jones, 76ers
3 SG Nemanja Nedovic, Bobcats
4 C Festus Ezeli, Wizards
5 PG Josep Franch, Cavs
6 SF Robbie Hummel, Rockets
7 SG Evan Fournier, Pistons
8 PF Andrew Nicholson, Hornets
9 PF Mason Plumlee, Suns
10 C Lucas Nogueira, Wizards
11 SF Quincy Acy, Wolves
12 PG Ashton Gibbs, Bucks
13 PG Tyshawn Taylor, Bucks
14 PG J'Covan Brown, Grizzlies
15 PG Casper Ware, Blazers
16 SF John Shurna, Hawks
17 SG Jared Cunningham, Knicks
18 SF Tomislav Zubcic, Bobcats
19 PF Jamychal Green, Magic
20 SG Orlando Johnson, Spurs
21 SF Elias Harris, Jazz
22 SF Kris Joseph, Mavs
23 SF Hollis Thompson, Wizards
24 PG Jordan Taylor, Lakers
25 PF Xavier Gibson, Thunder
26 SG Marcus Denmon, Clippers
27 SF Wesley Witherspoon, Celtics
28 PF Renardo Sidney, Warriors
29 SG Bradford Burgess, Bulls
30 C Reggie Johnson, Heat
So as you can see, the CPU Logic in both Trading and Drafting is completely off. I hope that this post will help some of you who feel that 30-team control is not necessary to please reconsider. It may be a bit more work, but it's worth it. Trust me when I say this.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
@ OP:How are you guys doin off season free agency? I started a 30 team association but figured out once you get to the off season it advances a day in the free agency period everytime you enter or exit.I was hopen i could offer guys contracts from certain teams that i think they woould sign with but after i got done offerin the top 5 guys the free agency period was over.Any workaround for this? Thanks in advance and sorry if this has already been answered.Comment

But I think what we discussed is planning the contracts out ahead of time (or using our suggestions) and then manually entering amounts for the player because you can do that in the edit screen.
Essentially, you have the choice to just avoid the process entirely.
We are still working on this though, to my knowledgeUpdates on Twitter: 2KstauffComment

We are still working on what the best idea possible is for this (unless Irish, dpauley, or Swagger has come up with something I missed).

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
You could always turn the option to have the CPU sign players 'ON' prior to the off-season. I doubt the CPU would make the best decisions but they would at least sign players."You come at the King, you best not miss..."Comment

Next, in free agency go to Qualifying offers and don't offer anyone a qualifying offer or all the RFA will sign the QO when you simulate past free agency. Then sim past free agency as your only able to sign players for 13 teams. Also, for certain players there's going to be multiple suitors and may be hard to chose where he would go. So in this instance, I would go to random.org, assign each team a number and whatever number you get is where that player signs.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Simplest solution I can come up with for this is to just skip the off-season free agency portion and do all the free agency signings before you play the first game of the next season. Only problem may be if teams are required to have a certain number of players on the roster before you exit the off-season. Just an idea, it may not work.Comment

Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion
Seems like the best option is to resign the players that you want to during the season. To go edit players and then edit their salary, as some won't sign contract extensions. Also, I made a list of who I feel should resign, so I would use that as a guideline.

THIS....exactly like this guys, best option and solution to deal with the FAs. 2k's offseason FA system blows so there's no point in even trying to use it or you'll become frustrated.Comment

Let me know what you think... CPU vs CPU is always tricky (especially in end of the game situations)Last edited by bedwardsroy19; 01-24-2012, 12:09 AM.Updates on Twitter: 2KstauffComment
