In the offseason I traded odom for a pick, amnestied marion, and signed D-Will for a 4 yr/about 80 mil contract.

Isn't Odom an expiring contract this year? I know the game says he has another year (player option I think) but IRL doesn't he only have this year left on his deal?

He only has 2.4 million guaranteed for next year

I edited his contract to be a team option, which is a big reason why I made the trade for Stephen Jackson for him, Delonte West, and a 1st to the Bucks. I get that 2.4mil is gauranteed, but don't the Mavs have the option of letting him go? And if they did they still pay him 2.4mil, correct? If they keep him they owe him the entire 8.2mil on his contract next season. I think that's how it works, right?

And how do you know exactly how much is gauranteed? It never specifies when you see these "non-gauranteed" years.

I did the same thing with guys who had partial guarantees. I turned them all into team options and just assume the team will eat the guaranteed part. Not perfect but when a guy has only 25% guaranteed if the team wants to release him, it makes more sense to treat it as a team option than a player option, another year on the contract, or just sending them off to free agency a year early. As for the amounts, I found them on a site called Storyteller's contracts, which I was looking at and comparing to HoopsWorld. Most of the info is pretty close but when in doubt I deferred to Hoopsworld for consistency.

I am having an absolute blast with this 30-Team Control Association and writing up stories/how my offseason went.

I thought it would be a good idea to post a running list of Association Story threads from friends of the this thread/the community, so you guys can see how our association modes are going, and what to expect during difficult times in your association (ex: trades we have made, FA Signings made)

I strongly recommend anybody who has the time makes their own, especially because when using 30-Team control it is very nice to have reference points.

Essentially I am doing the same thing, the only difference is that I am giong to be playing all of the Raptors games (and the occasional game of the week)

Might be cool to play with a bunch of different teams and play a "Game of the Night" that you tell the story of
