If Nets did this trade they would only have 5.5 million in cap space as their total salaries would be at 52.27. They would be at 43.55 if they Farmar and Shawne both opted out while also declining Damion James option. The Most they would be able to offer Dwight would be 4/64.16 so that trade would probably hurt their chances too much of getting him.

Honestly, after writing it all out, I felt the exact same way lol. How aboutn this revised trade?

      Detroit Gets:
      Devin Ebanks from LAL
      Samardo Samuels from CLE
2013 2nd round pick (top 40 protect) from LAL

      Lakers Get:
      Ramon Sessions from CLE
2012 unprotected 2nd round pick from DET

      Cavs Get:
      Will Bynum from DET
      Josh McRoberts from LAL
      2012 unprotected 2nd round pick

Yes you can Sign and Trade RFA, but you have to his cap hold to do that, which is 7.69 for Lopez. In order to keep Lopez though you would have to decline Damion James team option and have both Farmar and Shawne Williams decline their player options while also trading their 1st round pick or Morrow

My only thoughts against this trade is the Lakers giving up McRoberts. If/when Andrew Bynum get hurts it leaves L.A. with a pretty weak frontline of Gasol, Murphy, and Caracter.

Maybe throw in Semih Erden, at least there would be another frontcourt body... Or possibly send Samuels to LA instead of Detroit

I honestly think the Cavs part of this deal is pretty bad for them. Their giving away a good player in Sessions for way lesser player in Bynum. They do get McRoberts, but he's just nice role player something a rebuilding team doesn't really need. The Cavs should get at least a 1st rounder back and maybe even a young player. The Pistons seem to just screw this trade up as I would just do a trade between the Lakers and Cavs

In my association D-Will ended up on the Mavs for Year 2. I had to trade Odom for a pick and amnesty Marion though. I pulled off Cousins for Carter and unprotected 1st rd pick. It might seem unfair, but Cousins gets to go to a team he actually wants to play for, Kings get a trade piece and clear up PT for Thompson and Hickson. Once Garcia expires, the Kings could sign a few FA's and make a run for the playoffs(I amnestied Salmons, and picked up Lou Williams). Dwight Howard and Turkoglu(and fillers) got swapped for Bynum and World Peace(and fillers) mid-season. Both teams benefitted. And the Nets got a head-start on rebuilding once they lost out on Dwight Howard. In a 3-team trade with Boston and Detroit, they got some expiring contracts and some more expendable guys and are now building around Marshon Brooks and Brook Lopez. After those 2 guys, there weren't really any big free agents this year. OJ Mayo signed with PHX, and after getting amnestied, Joe Johnson returned to PHX. Wilson Chandler signed with OKC. KG signed with ATL. Jeff Green signed with BOS. Chris Kaman signed with MIN. And,believe it or not, Isaiah Thomas signed with Detroit.

True, but my intention was to build around those two and not go after howard. I used fa calculator and they landed by luck wilson chandler and robyn lopez. So that will help them. Chandler, along with.brooks, williams, and smith makes a good lineup. I did sign ish smith too. And with humpries coming off the bench they have some good pieces.

In the draft they got 6th pick and nabbed sullinger. So overall they improved and should be good.

I think a big difference is that Lopez is much more of a true center

Man you really screwed the Kings. Carter for Cousins might be one of the worst trade in the history of the NBA. Also, Isaiah Thomas shouldn't have been a free agent so you took away another key player from them

Yes, but the whole point is to get Bynum out of Detroit.

He isn't that much worse than Sessions, just hasn't had the opportunity to show it in a crowded Detroit backcourt... Honestly when your backing up Kyrie Irving you don't really need to be that great. Maybe I will look at it a bit more.

If your dead set on doing this trade then maybe you could do something like Cav's get: 1st rounder from LA, Will Bynum and Matt Barnes. Pistons get: Ryan Hollins, Troy Murphy and Jason Kapano. While the Lakers get: Ramon Sessions
