    Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion

    Hey guys,

I'm in on the Linsanity...halfway through year 1 of my NYK association.

Lin currently has a 1 year/800K (roughly) contract. Virtual Lin still is undecided about resigning with the team.

Do you guys think Lin WILL resign with the Knicks in reality? And if so...how many years, how much money?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. This team has about half of its roster set up with 1 year contracts.

This is an interesting article I found on ESPN. Basically, it says that because Lin is a RFA in his first 2 years, then he can not be offered more than the MLE from another team. So because of that, NYK will be able to match any offer despite being over the cap.
Jeremy Lin unlikely to slip through New York Knicks' hands in free agency this NBA offseason.

I believe the rule is that for the first 2 years that you can only offer MLE, but from there on you can offer anything you want. So for example, someone could offer him a 4/40 deal just by backloading his contract by paying him 15 million in season 3 and 4. I still say the Knicks would match that offer though so it is probably realistic to keep him with Knicks.

If I'm not mistaken, you can only have a 4.5% increase each year for a player that you are not re-signing. This was new to the CBA.

Not to turn this into what the Jeremy Lin thread has become, but...

he has to resign to NYK or have another convince him that they'll build their system around him the way D'Antoni has. A lot of his success is coming from the fact that the Knicks offense plays into his strengths and puts him a position to be as successful as he has been. There is a reason he didn't succeed with the other teams he was on, they didn't tailor their style to strengths. He is mix of right time, right place, right offensive system, put him on the Lakers in their slow down throw it into the post offense and would still be the guy who got cut and sent to the D-league.

Don't get me wrong I like the guy, I hope he keeps it up, but he isn't a player who can just go to any team and take over(unless they changed their system to fit him, like I already said).

Of course that is all IRL, in 2k as long you(or the team you put him on) have a P&R heavy offense he should be fine.

Ya, I know raises are 4.5 percent. The way it would work is his contract would start at 5 million with a raise of 4.5 percent in his second year. Then in the 3rd year he would have his salary jump considerably regardless of the 4.5 raises. Basically they kept the Gilbert Arenas rule from last year's CBA, but now the raises are 4.5 percent instead

To be fair, most team's run what the Knicks are running right now. About 75 percent of the league mainly run's a PnR offense with some movement in it. I agree that Lin wouldn't thrive in offense that was based on movement, but very few teams run that type of offense

You're right most NBA teams are fairly pick and roll heavy. However, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Not every system is the same and not every team runs the same type of pick and rolls, if that makes any sense. I should have made that more clear in my other post. The Knicks pick and roll 'system'(for lack of a better term) is different than Chicago's pick and roll 'system' etc. If everyone was running everything the same way Lin would have stood out sooner and teams would be really easy to defend.

When planning a trade, what part of the salary needs to match? It is just the current year salary? What happens if you trade for a player that keeps you under the cap for the current year, but will put you over for the next year?

Current year. When it comes to trades, future years do not matter.

                          Re: Bedwardsroy19 30-Team Control Association Guide/Discussion

Forgive me if this has been discussed and I just missed the solution. I've been seeing a bunch of threads discussing player progression and how, if you go deep enough in Association Mode, everybody with have an OVR in the 80s.

Has anyone figured out how the CPU progresses players and how to counteract this phenomena?

I'm pretty sure that it is caused by 2k setting the potential rating too high in the orignial rosters. Bed fixed that in his roster so it shouldn't be a concern.

Yeah if you're using Bed's roster, you should be fine.

Just make sure your draft classes are on point...be VERY selective about who you give a POT rating over 80.

what do yall think of this trade?

O.J. Mayo, Tony Allen, Wright, memphis 1st(lotto) to Pacers
Darrell Arthur, Danny Granger to Warriors
                                Stephenson, Ellis to Grizzlies

i might have the grizz give up a little bit more?
