That goes completely against the concept of a defensive anchor. He doesn't make his teammates BETTER. He covers up their mistakes.

    Oh, Jesus.
On the contrary, a defensive anchor talks on defense and tells guys where they're supposed to be, thus increasing their defensive awareness.

i love that the person that really takes the time and learns his team will have somewhat of an advantage over a " pick up and play" casual guy. Hopefully this makes the game less casuals friendly gameplay wise as 2k12

That's because they established a defensive culture in Boston. Did he do that on Minnesota? No. Those teams were mediocre on defense most of the time.

Tyson Chandler didn't do jack except hold down the paint. I didn't see Steve Novak or Jeremy Lin playing better defense by virtue of Chandler being on the floor.

So does a great perimeter defender. Why can't we have that?

I agree, with this somewhat, it's been plenty of times when I thought someone was going to pass me the ball, but they decide to dribble and pass me the ball late, allowing the defender to recover. Or someone threw a pass that I basically had to move out of my spot, to catch. It disrupts the rhythm and having to make a crazy one handed catch then move the ball to your shooting pocket takes a long time. Passing is not all about accuracy but timing as well. So a late and inaccurate pass can mess up your shot. I agree that it doesn't make you a better shooter. It's up to you to make the shot, but I understand what they are going for.

For this skill to fire off, the player must be the defensive rebounder and the pass must be made within 3 seconds of the defensive rebound. The longer the outlet pass is in the game, the higher risk there is for throwing a bad pass. If the rebounder fulfills the two rules mentioned, the pass will have 50% less penalty than normal
I see what you doing 2k and I like it. I really like this one because in 2k12 every big man has deadly accurate outlet passes.

When a Bruiser collides with his opponent during boxouts, post backdowns, off-ball bumps, off-ball rides and contact shots, he depletes more energy from his match-up than players without this skill. For comparison purposes, when contact occurs in one of these areas, bruisers cause their opponents to lose energy about half as much as when his opponent is running.
I cant wait to send my goon in on some unsuspecting cheeser and deplete his stars energy. At least thats how I see it playing out.

I wonder how will all of these skills play off of one another and what type of balance or imbalance will it bring to hum vs hum play. Whatever it does it has me way more intrigued than last year.

The only problem I have with Noah having the Post Playmaker skill is that a lot of Noah's plays were made out of the high post non-engaged , and unless I'm wrong, it seems you have to be engaged in the post to utilize this skill.

That's not necessarily true. Someone like Tyson Chandler for instance is lauded for his communication on defense. The Knicks didn't go from one of the worst to one of the better defensive teams just because Chandler spent all season covering up mistakes.

That's pretty much what Dwight Howard has done in Orlando for five years.

That's what I was envisioning as well. It's often overlooked, but there's a big difference between a teammate who slops a pass out near my feet from the post because they have no other choice, and the guy who's savvy down low and knows exactly how and where to get me the rock out on the perimeter.

Wait...does the anchor skill set stack? let's say you have two defensive anchors on the court will it stack up to twelve?

and what we're saying to you is that, while we may not agree with dwight being given that skill, the spirit of the skill is rooted in a real thing that happens in the nba.

but no, dwight should not be a defensive anchor, because he covers mistakes instead of raising the quality of his team's defensive efforts and skills like the other two.
