Re: NBA 2K13 - All 31 Signature Skills Revealed

Anything that separates the skill of bball aficionados from casuals is a great addition to the franchise imo. My in depth knowledge of my supposed "mediocre" Jazz team will destroy a casual Heat or Lakers user, just as in previous 2k games.

The key, as in previous iterations will be to play team ball, utilizing every attribute, individual category rating, and now signature skill of each player to overwhelm the ill informed pick up and play casual user. And if you're fortunate enough to play like minded sim players in leagues or OAs, the ensuing chess match and team building will be epic to say the least.

If anything the addition of these sig skills will force people to adapt to the strengths of their players and teams or risk being blown out by a dedicated user who has mastered their teams inside out; yes that includes a dedicated bobcats user!.

Some skills sound really cool, still some of them doesn't make sense to me at all. For example, how a pass from J. Noah (Post Playmaker) makes you to be better at shooting? (The pass will hit the receiver on point and will give him up to a 10% bonus on two-point shots and a 4% bonus on three-point shots, so long as the potential made shot by the shooter would result in an assist for the Post Playmaker). The pass itself should make you to get a better opportunity to shot (for example to make you a bit more wide open and have more time to make a shot) but not just make a better shotter no matter why. I have an idea what they were trying to make, but I dunno, it still sounds strange to me.

Yeah I'm also interested to see how players acquire these since I do draft classes. Will I have to assign them to a player before they are drafted or does the game assign them based on ratings and tendencies?

The only thing I want to hear is how they are obtained and is it ratings related. Does a player have to have a certain rating to have a skill.? And can they be switched before games.
lebron has at 60's block rating and he has chase down block ss. so they dont hve to have.

I said this in the other, there was no way in previous 2ks to replicate the energy given to a team after a big dunk, big block, a player stepping up and putting his body on line to draw a charge, having a player on the floor that you know has your back on defense or having a PG that knows what to do with the ball and when to do it. A lot of these skills do what tendencies can't.

YESSss, a way to separate the people that actually know and watch basketball than the person that just wants to run and dunk. Having to have 80 stamina or you can't dunk on someone is HUGE NEWS. Just have to fix those severs!!!!

This is exactly what this game needed, because it didn't seem to mind who you played with to get a rebound / block / score in the paint or in certain situations. I especially love the one where players can remain on a hot streak longer and can get it more easily. The one that is really missing though is: quick release!!!!

They created a lot of different types of shot releases and such but for players like Dell Curry & Abdul-Rauf, can't think of any others, you would need something to make sure they can get the shot off quicker than others.

While a Defensive Anchor’s team is on defense, all teammates on the floor are given up to a six point attribute boost to their defensive abilities.

That goes completely against the concept of a defensive anchor. He doesn't make his teammates BETTER. He covers up their mistakes.

                    Oh, Jesus.

My new rockets team will still give people headaches considering i will definatly learn their strenghs and weakness and especially if lamb gets his jumpshooting skills. Utah will still have problems with me in nsba

Right now it seems overzealous to give Noah so much power but It's all good in the end.

The player who utilizes all his team's players such as Noah with his pass out the post skill will trump the casual player who will just try to attack with Rose all day.

Until the casual realizes that some of his players skills will no longer work because their stamina is too low or what not.

If I am playing great on ball D, nothing is going to stop me from falling. If the game wants me to fall I will fall. I have no control over that.
Doubt if your playing GREAT on ball D your player is just going to fall. If you get hit with a cross lean the wrong way then the animations might kick in. If you're a good on ball defender you shouldn't worry, but those that rely on the CPU to play D it could get ugly

This is sorta true and sorta false.

KG when he first came to the Celtics did cover up his team mates mistakes but he ALSO made his team mates better defensive players by raising their intensity and effort and signalling them for the proper rotations on defense. So 2K's effect for defensive anchor is sort of justified.

perhaps it delivers the pass into the receiver's shooting pocket, which will allow a much more streamlined transition from reception to shot release.

isn't the belief that kg transformed the culture of the celtics into a defensive team based on his motor, effort and communication? didn't tyson chandler do that this past season? aren't they two of the examples used for the skill?
