    Re: NBA 2k13 Impressions Thread

personally i think this game would perfect if they:
    1. fixed the shooting timing on HOF (it's ridiculously late)
    2. gave us an option for isomotion with (LT + left stick) like 2k11 and 2k12.

option 1 is obviously patch-able while option is probably not. just gonna have to wait for 2k14 to get the old isomotion back and it sucks (if it aint broke dont fix it)

I love the game but respect people that don't. To each his own.
$50. gamestop was gonna give me 20 lol. i really hope they fix controls. with the control stick, icon passing, speed burst, shooting, there is way too much going on on the right side of the controller, while l1 and l2 aren't used on the left. hope the y kill the control stick next year, and bring back crew.

I mean, seems like the inside presence of big men or other players can't affect the opponent attacks, so we have easy layup with 2 or 3 defenders around, off boards of 1 man vs 4 men, etc.

I think instead that the presence of big men under the basket or on the way to the rim should do what it naturally do: intimidate making them feel his weight!

Maybe a roster update could address or limitate this instead of waiting for a patch.....
I started on All-Star and felt interior defense wasn't very strong, so I went to Superstar (unplayable for me last year), upped the defensive awareness for hum/cpu to 63 and lowered inside shot success to taste - problem solved. Doesn't require a patch or even a roster update

you can reverse the iso motion contols in the advanced control settings.
I have th shot stick set up to shoot first and left trigger plus right stick to do isomotion. its not with the lt and left stick but it is another option.

I thought the same thing, The problem is that the AI exploits weak defense. Im starting to slow the AI controlled teams down a bit.
ITs as if they need a get back on defense slider or soemthing.
Its not that the dumbed the game down, everything just happens quicker and makes all the defensive and offensive adjustments almost irrelevant.

Actually, it happens when CPU receives a defensive rebound, they go all out on the break.

Here is a quote from youalreadyknow, one of the roster makers for the sim rosters last year.

It doesn't matter if the CPU has numbers or not, they won't execute a play.

They run the floor looking to do nothing but score or find a shooter. That's the problem.

I thought that this would be similar to 2K12 where Coach Profiles could fix this, but unfortunately it's not.

I've said it already, but the "correct" shot release timing is just way too late. you have to release the ball on your way down to get a green release - strange. Most NBA players release the ball relatively quickly when shooting, but in 2k13 it feels like you have to hold it for an eternity before letting the shot go. fairly minor, but it just takes me out of the game when i have to release the ball so late for the game to consider it a good release.

yeah, 2k could reduce a lot of complaints if they just put out better instructions. a lot of complaints stem from people just not knowing how certain things work...there are pretty basic things every year they they just fail to mention in the instructions or tutorials.

That's the thing. The AI is running when it sees the opportunity. Your job as a user is to minimize those opportunities. How much crap would you be giving VC if they didn't run when they could? You can't have it both ways. Do YOUR part to slow the game down. I was playing a dude online that said the same thing about the CPU after I started running in him. I told him to stop focusing on trying to get offensive rebounds OVER transition defense. He was trying to use the offensive rebound issues to his advantage. The other issue was that he was always trying to attack the paint with his wing players. You know, the guys normally responsible for anchoring the defense in transition...

Now there is one thing that is different that people should note - hustle rating of your players. If you have players with low hustle, they don't get back on defense very well. Something to note...

I love all the emotion, reactions and signature celebrations 2K captured this year! They add so much to the game. It's noticeable that they now can have other players react independantly as well which is even better.

Problem is, now i want more!!! I think they could actually subtlly increase the frequency of of many of the ones they have, and also could have more players reacting or celebrating at the same time. I've thought of some to possibly add (some may very well be in there already):

-Have a player barking or talking to the official after a call during a free throw.
-Have a player or captain put an arm around official to plead their case.
-Player continuing to shake his head at call after foul during free throws (seen them throw hands up after call and shake head, but it would be nice to see the frustration sustained, maybe even next time down court! Think Cousins or Rasheed!)
-Hand daps or high fives between players after a made hoop, as they retreat on D.
-A wink after a big hoop.
-Point to passer after nice dime. (I think it's in there, but not too often, would be nice for PG or whoever to nod in approval)
-Player or teammate nodding head after basket.
-Players high fiving fans on way thru tunnel or throwing wristbands to fans
                            -the "good game" butt smack.
                            -a non-jumping chest bump.
-players pumping up crowd in 4th quarter of tight game.
-player(s) looking to coach for instructions.
