I've been in-between on how I feel about the game so far, but now that the patch is out I have to say that i'm really underwhelmed.
This game is an absolute mess on the defensive side. I know it's geared more towards the casual fan, who might get more enjoyment out of throwing down dunks but I always felt that there was nothing more satisfying than playing perfect defense and getting a stop. There's almost no way to do that with 2K13. The constant morphing through user-controlled defenders, the horrible team mate AI, balls going through players hands and bodies, ridiculous rebounding, defenders sliding, no contact on dunks and layups....it's a huge list of problems that makes defense the least enjoyable part of any 2K game i've ever played.
Even in 2K12, when the CPU scored on me, I could chalk it up to the offense executing better or myself failing on defense. With this game, half the time i'm scored on it's because my defender slid or I had a block but my hand went through the ball...pick one of the problems listed, they all happen numerous times each game. I check the replays and marvel at how they could release this game with so many issues and consider it a finished product. The patch did very little to correct any of those issues; if they could have been fixed i'm sure they would have, but this game was flawed from release.
I gave it a chance, it's just bad this year.
