This game is straight garbage, I've tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, I've tried to defend it, but I can't do it anymore. Player movement is horrible. AI reaction to the ball sucks. Contact, unless initiated by the CPU, is pretty much non-existent. Offensive spacing, which was said to have been fixed, is not. Offensive rebounding sucks. Defense does not matter against most CPU players. AI is still stupid. Suction is still here. Button responsiveness sucks. The patch made this game so much worse, I can't delete the patch, because I need it to be online to earn VC when I play MC.

You need to drop the CPU girlfriend and get with a live opponent, this game is great when played right. Some slider adjustment to the core gameplay is needed but its a damn fine game.

Exactly playing the CPU and quick matches isnt the way to go. You have to play sim opponents online in 12 HOF sim games.

The game really shines and lays its best when you play a human oppent online who knows what there actually doing.

Got the game Thursday and I've been tinkering around online ever since. MyTeam is definitely a nice change in pace from all of the superstar cheese and I never really thought I'd have so much fun with a bunch of scrubs.

On the other hand, quick matches are awful. Of course, everyone will choose the Heat for obvious reasons, but it really does seem like James and Wade are unstoppable. I remember one point where I had Noah and Boozer right up in James's face in the paint and he still somehow managed to make the layup with contact. I feel like they make contact layups too often.

What's even worse is that the AI defense is pitiful. For some odd reason, my defensive settings keep resetting itself so that all players are set to sag off and auto on double teams. I have to keep changing it every timeout. Ingame, I do my best to stop cheesing by playing either a 2-3 or 1-3-1 zone and I usually play the point. The game does not reward you at all for good defense, because I once had Nate Robinson initiate the contact animation with LeBron as he brought the ball up, played good on ball D against him, and then he slipped by for an OPEN layup with NO help defense inside. AT ALL. For some reason, it's like the AI is scared of defending the paint. Even if I set it to lock down the paint, it rarely ever seems to work for me. Because of that, I've dropped two games against Heat players where I've had to play from behind. In the last game I played, I was down 17 at the half and made my way to within 1 in the 4th quarter with a little over a minute left. Of course, the paint defense failed on me and I ended up somehow giving up 6 unanswered before the game ended.

One more thing, I'm finding directional passing is terrible. I will admit that I don't really like using icon passing during a heated play, but passes are literally thrown cross-court when I'm trying to pass to the cutter only a few feet over. It's really weird. Maybe it's the input lag.

Other than that, the game is still fun. Maybe I should stick to MyTeam for now.

When I first got the game and started playing the cpu I regretted my purchase. Then I tried Mkmarshes sliders in the sliders section. It makes the game way better. With his sliders it's my second favorite sports sim, second to mlb the show 12. If your unhappy try his sliders; makes the game completely better imo.

This game is an unbalanced mess...i dont even know where to start...the presentation of this game leads you to believe it is well developed and will be an awesome bball game...but after really diving into the actaully basketball mechanics of this game it is completely unbalanced and unplayable...

tell me how a team with garbage players can sink 7for7 jumpers on you...players that are not known to hit jumpshots consistently are hitting them as if they are Jordan or Ray Allen....this isnt basketball its a big CHEAT.

The cpu runs fast breaks as if thats the only thing they know how to do..and if you try and defend it tthe cpu will just continue on as if you are not there holding your ground.

I dont know what all the fuss about this game is..the game totally lacks BASIC basketball mechanics...this is a mess.....*dont with rant*

NO matter what slider set I use...or switching back to default options..the inability to draw contact with the CPU make this game unplayable. unresponsive controls also prove this game is farrrr from being anything close to sports game of the year....just my opinion

The fact that the game can only shine in certain situations and only in the right hands is...problematic. Not really what you shoot for when putting out a top-tier product.

Ever since I started to realize the **** interior defense of this game it has slowly turned this game into a complete piece of ****.

Robbed of 60 dollars for the second year in a row AGAIN.

Seriously, this is the worst thing ive ever seen in the 2k franchise. Hell, maybe im saying this because im extremely p----ed off right now, but still, how can 2k miss such a glitch. Yes this offensive rebound issue is a "COMEBACK GLITCH"....you cant fool me 2k!!!....these OVER THE TOP rebounds are a undercover way for you to sneak the AI into a comeback during the game.

The only reason im complaining today was because i finally started my season and for the first time i used two different teams. Chris himphies is not the REBOUND GOD!!!! Why the hell did 2k not see this....this is the worst

and no patch can ever cover up this flaw 2k. They should not get sports game of the year. The glitch is major. This will not get covered up. wow

this game is getting way too sluggish and frustrating.. sloppy basketball and bull**** rebounding. When hawks get blown out at home by the kings you know this game isn't right. I cant manually steal the ball ever ITS ALWAYS REACH IN FOUL. Anyway, why are there so many reach in fouls in the first place, this is ****ing bs. ****ing live better come back so they can make these guys work harder because certainly they aren't doing their jobs. fire them all replace with skilled people that know something about basketball. stupid mike wang doesnt know ****.

Man today was my worst experience playng this game. For some reason the AI is now unstoppable and not even realistic anymore. NOT EVEN REALISTIC!!!! Something happened to where the freakin nets are this ULTIMATE TEAM!!!..............im done for a while i think.

Also it only gets worst when you play back to back games. Now i see what many were talking about. This game is a cheat and the comeback glitch killssssssssssssss the nba expereince.


IM DONE for a while....and maybe thats a good thing. #$%^ 2k


2k games are never consistent. Since 2008 the gameplay is never consistent.

Last I checked, the title says "Impressions Thread" and not Rage Thread.

Game has its flaws but I'm not seeing a lot of the issues some of you guys are mentioning. I must have gotten a different copy.

I see a lot of the issues that people are stating. Also, this is the impressions thread, so the impression can be positive or negative. Depends on the player's subjective impression.

I do agree with you that there's probably too much rage in this thread, but I think that speaks to the quality of the game this year. A lot of people are just unsatisfied. The thing about every 2K game is, it draws you in with the bells and whistles and everyone is satisfied for a month or two. Then when the "honeymoon period" is over, you realise that when you take the fancy stuff away, the game has BIG flaws.

I'm enjoying it this year and even though I see the issues I'm also having a lot of fun. So I won't rage about it. But I do notice that the last 2 years have been on a decline since 2K11. That was the last brilliant 2K title.

I don't know if this is right or not, but I feel like 2K wants to leave you "wanting more" so that you buy the game next year. Whilst I do agree that is a popular and very effective marketing strategy, I don't think 2K needs to conduct itself this way. They HAVE a quality product. And they have NO competition. People will buy it every year JUST based on these 2 facts alone. This company (and game) was built from community support, as it was the underdog against LIVE when it first came out.

By now they should have realised that they don't need to do any "gimmicks" to get us to buy the game. They should just focus on releasing the best quality product every year that they can. If they keep going down this route I'm afraid that I think it will cause the reverse effect and make many loyal 2K fans stop buying the next editions. I already see some big players don't seem to be playing the game anymore since the last couple of years (hint: edotd - a big 2K favourite amongst OS'ers).

well today i had the best game ive ever played. This game the (AI) nets did not go ape s----t on me. Not many cheats, but the rebounds were still crazy fake. They (AI nets) played normal this time around and i had a great all around game. Starting to notice that when you play back to back games the engine seems to start messing up.....every time i play the game when i first turn it on, then the game plays great...

just weird....2k always keeps my head turning.
