While it does look like you are in for a fun year those are two players that are almost complete opposites of the philosophy of the Spurs haha.

Also while I was in the game I haven't seen a single 3 Point shot.

Is there anyway to sort of change your teammates tendencies so that they at least shoot the wide open 3's (make or miss) to spread the floor a bit? I mean Kyrie, Waiters and Miles are not bad 3 Pt. Shooters, they just never let it fly.

So is there any way to tell them to just shoot it when they're open?

And on another note, in our last game we were down 3 with 4 seconds to go in the game. How in the world is the AI so dumb to inbound it to Varejao who takes it inside and misses a 15 ft Jumper? I mean what the heck?
I think i speak for most players when i say there should be a "call for Shot button" but theres not. If you want threes do what i do, wait till the final seconds of the shot clock (risky, although i can get dwade to knock em down and he's worse on the 3 than irving) or you can always go yourself.

I have the same problems playing for miami where lebron and wade refuse to shoot threes, acquiring michael redd has helped somewhat as i chase Stockton's season assist record (going at 18.5 per game 2 games in with 10 at the half in game 3)

I scored 82 points on the Knicks and we still lost 128-124.

20 seconds left, Melo gets the ball from kid and decides to shoot a running/fadeaway 3 pointer which he missed. Chandler gets the rebound () and that was it. I could have made the basket to win since it was a 2 point difference.

          Painful.

Re: Official NBA 2K13 MyCareer thread

            Finally got this game yesterday.

Started my career as a PG 3PT Specialist ''Jevon Dudley'' .

Posted stats of 14pts, 9 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals in the rookie showcase, although i did a lot of screening for scores so ended up with a 'B' grade.

Got interviewed by the Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks, and went 14th in the draft to the Bucks.

First few games and I've hardly had any minutes, but I'm not complaining - I'm terrible at this game (mainly defensively). I track my guy all over and usually he doesnt do a lot of scoring on me, but i cannot get the ball from him.

I'm a bit og a noob when it comes to Basketball (Hockey fan mainly), and don't fully understand the sport (yet).

Can anyone give me some useful hints/tips on how to play as a PG? (And somebody PLEASE tell me when to attempt a 'steal' - I'm always getting reach in fouls).

Great game though, presentation is fantastic.

            Thanks guys.

Glad you joined us all. First, about the fouls: the devs increased the difficulty of getting steals. That is why you are having little success. Unless your steal attribute is 95+ and others such as hands are high as well, I'd stick to the passing lanes - this will allow you to get some steals without the fouls. The passing lanes are determined by the "angles" that connect the players who are passing the ball to each other. Just like in hockey, the name of the game here is intercepting the ball as it is being passed to the man you are covering.

If you have not turned on Plays and enabled them to show on the floor, then you will want to do this in your settings. This will show blue and grey lines and arrows on the floor. The blues are for primary play options and the greys are for secondary. The flashing circle is where it wants you to stand to start the play. The solid blue line with an arrow pointing is where you are supposed to move towards, and if the line is dashed it is indicating that it wants you to pass the ball to the player it is pointing at.

You may have both the option to pass or to hold on the ball yourself to begin a play, and the play will branch out from your decision.

DaCzar has done Utube Videos on different plays ... if you scroll down in the homepage topics, you'll find one linked. I'd watch a couple of these vids, because he breaks the plays down step by step and shows you what to expect with each one.

You can also go into practice mode and practice different plays; that helps a lot as well.

Here are some basic beginner pointers for a PG player:

1: Think of yourself as the "Conductor" of the team. You are the one that establishes the pace of your teams playing (how fast you execute a play). Go too fast and your teammates will be out of position or unable to get open... go too slow and the other team may be set and ready for you on their side of the court. Once you understand playcalling, this gets easier.

2: You are a 3pt specialist - this means you should stay on the perimeter (outside) near the 3-pt line. This does not mean you stand still, but you should always be looking to provide an outlet for your inside (usually big) players. Just like in hockey, you will want to move the ball around, from side to side a lot. Learn how to do a touch-pass. A pass is faster then running, so with a touch pass you can take advantage of an out of position defender much easier.

3: Playing Defense is the same as in hockey as well. The main difference is there is no "goalie", so you are going to play as if the net was empty and the other team was on a power play. Try to always stay between your man and the basket and the ball as well. If the person you are guarding is advancing up the court on one of the sides, shade him towards the out of bounds line. If he is on the baseline (the line at the back of the court), try to trap him against it, so he can't move. If he is in the center of the court, shade him towards one of the sides (this is done by using the right analog).

4: If momentum is on their side, you have to deal with it. if you do not, you will suffer and even lose the game because of it. To deal with momentum, use time outs, set up a dunk, or get to the free throw line and make free throws.

Use the "scrimmaging" mode to practice both offense and defense. You'll be happy you spent the time learning your teammates.

Lastly, if you have specific questions, ask them here - the OS community is great, and they will try to help you - even if they may not always agree with you on opinions. Also, feel free to pm me if you want. I'd be happy to help; although I am not the best of players too.

Does anybody have tips for getting blocks? I'm a 6'5" athletic pg with 99 vert and 50 block. The only milestones I'm really missing are the 3blocks/3steals and a 5x5 game

Also idk what the deal is with charlotte but in the last two season my teams are 0-4 against them even though they are garbage and both my teams have the best record in the league. Now that I'm looking closer in games that are simmed we always lose to the trash teams like bobcats suns magic and kings but the beat the heat lakers clippers and mavericks...weird.

Got swept by the Jazz in the conference finals(tanked the last game, because i just didnt bother to play it) and now in the off-season. Seriously considering offers from 2 teams. Rockets let Lin leave(presumably to be able to get me.Interestingly enough they have 4 centers already, Blatche ovr 76, Kaman ovr 68, Varejao 62 and some rookie under 60), the starting line-up would hopefully be:

                              C: Me
                              PF: Patterson
                              SF: Parsons
                              SG: Harden
                              PG: Paul

And the Heat obviously, anyone who has played as a center for them, could tell me how much of the ball you actually get. The Heat still have the Big 3 and have added Lance Stephenson and David West to their team.

Both teams have offered me a role as a starter and that they need me. The other teams, who have made an offer are: Trail Blazers,Nets,Bobcats,Grizzlies,Hornets,Raptors,Kin gs,Celtics,Spurs,Pacers and T-Wolves

Leaning towards the Rockets, but any advice would be welcome.

I started an athletic Ben McLemore MyCareer and I had 16 points with 8 assists in the Rookie Showcase. The Elites lost in 2OT. I was interviewed by the Mavericks, 76ers, and the Magic. I would've played with the Mavs but I was passed by and picked by the Magic and am excited to play for them.
