for a) yeah that was just a momentarily lapse, i can see the flawed logic in what i said. However, for b) i still stand by what i posted, because this is the same thing people said for 2k12, for 2k11, for 2k10 etc. And yet come October, you see alot of those same people who have bought that year's version.

Yeah, you're probably right...on the other hand, with the new console generation being released soon, some people might be hesitant to spend big money on new stuff. At least I am.
I simply won't care about fancy HD graphics and next gen talk if we're for example still not able to turn off the stupid AI catch up scripting that completely destroys FIFA/PES/NBA2k gameplay against the CPU.

Most people will probably spend any kind of money to play the next half-a**ed Call of Duty or Assasin's Creed cash cow installment, but I won't. Maybe I'm getting too old for this, lol.

Lol, yeah hopefully next gen they actually add some depth to association, better balance online etc, but even if it is pretty much 2k13 with updated rosters, i will still buy it. Because until EA comes back and offers some competition, 2k is our only option for basketball games.

So my point is, i'm sure many of the people who have said in this thread that they won't buy 2k unless there is major changes, will in fact still buy it even it is pretty much the game from the year before.

Some people do make the threat, and still buy the game every year. However, they could have bought the game under the impression that game was fixed from the previous year. Personally, I have bought the game every year since NBA 2K3. I never really had any genuine complaints about the game, but I'm mostly an online gamer and the other modes were rarely appealing to me.

For the past two years, I felt like that I was tricked into buying NBA 2K12 and NBA 2K13. To me, NBA 2K11 was greatest basketball of all times, and I blindly bought NBA 2K12. Now, how the HELL it went from the G.O.A.T. in NBA 2K11 to arguably the worse in NBA 2K12 is beyond me. That was ONLY year where I bought the previous year's version to continue playing. I played mostly NBA 2K11 until they turned off the servers, then I cautiously started playing NBA 2K12.

I bought NBA 2K13, because I felt that there no way in HELL it could be worse than NBA 2K12. Although I was mostly right, I feel that NBA 2K13 is a very polished OFFENSIVE-oriented game. Defensively...this game is garbage. I will admit that they made some great strides with their "under the hood" tweaks defensively, but why should I wait 6 months for them improve the basic fundamentals of a basketball game?

This might be the first year I don't buy 2k immediately, which is shocking because I'm almost constantly checking OS to see new info but not this year I won't. This has by far been the most frustrating 2k game I have ever played in my life ! No exaggeration

-gameplay feels scripted
-anybody can pick an elite team and just be great without knowing anything about NBA basketball smh
-too offensive powered smh
-up and under move is unguardble and you can do it with any player lol also that runnig hook shot is automatic with any player
-it seems like the leaning shot are more automatic than actual spot up shots
-Defense is non existent in this game unless its the cpu

those are the main reasons I'm not buying the next one this year unless I see that Defense can actually be played this year and offensive isn't the main focus and so easy then maybe I'll be a 2k fan again but 2k13 was a major disappoint to me.

It felt like a straight up NBA Jam/NBA streets type game especially with the lack of shooting fouls and all the dunk on and 3's smh nothing about the game felt like NBA basketball to me. You have to really take your time and find the right sliders and settings just to get a close to sim experience and that's only against the cpu which I don't like to play

I could play 2k11 and choose the 76ers or even the Bobcats and beat all the top teams because it felt like actual basketball IQ was respected in that game not saying that 2k11 was perfect but its easily the best 2k to date imo. Playing with a terrible team in 2k this year against a top team is almost a guaranteed loss and not because your not good enough to beat them but because 2k won't allow you to beat them as crazy as that sounds

I could go on and on in even more detail about the problems with 2k13 but I don't want to ramble any longer

Whether you want to believe it or not, 2k doesn't make this game for sim players anymore fellas

I see nothing wrong with it fundamentally or AI wise but I really know nothing about basketball.

I must say one thing though. The interaction between players just doesn't look right. Like last night I was watching the Hou vs OKC game and noticed some things I never see in games like when the person will run around the 3 pt line trying to get open, him and the defender were leaning and constantly pushing against each other. And in the paint, you never see like more than one defender guarding the ball handler driving the basket. Only one does and the other just stands there.

The gameplay is fantastic but it just isn't "real" enough in physics and such. But that's any video game so I can't really knock it too much.

I didn't start playing until 2K12 and just picked up 2K13 a couple days ago. I see improvements and I also see things that I don't really like. Like they just abandoned association mode and went all over the online modes. It felt like I was playing an EA Sports game rather than 2K Sports.

I'm getting it for sure. Maybe not on day 1, but the 1st week. I'm enjoying 2k13. Hopefully they can fix the sliding, pass/catch logic, footplanting, and overall movement.

I think 2K deserves way more credit than yall are giving them. They didn't go from NBA Live's little brother to King of the Court by not doing something consistently right. Every year a new, impactful feature(s) is added to the game. And you can't claim they don't listen to the fans. Just check out the wishlist thread from the last few yrs and you'll see a lot of those have been put in the game. I do think they should go back and pop in 2K8 and 2K11 to see what made those games so fun -- good contact animation and gameplay balance. And bringing crew back would put it over the top.

I think 2K deserves way more credit than yall are giving them. They didn't go from NBA Live's little brother to King of the Court by not doing something consistently right. Every year a new, impactful feature(s) is added to the game. And you can't claim they don't listen to the fans. Just check out the wishlist thread from the last few yrs and you'll see a lot of those have been put in the game. I do think they should go back and pop in 2K8 and 2K11 to see what made those games so fun -- good contact animation and gameplay balance. And bringing crew back would put it over the top.

I can't say that its a "must buy " based on recent versions of the game until we all see a game that resembles the demo they put out in september. 2k has become predictable in a bad way lately so many aren't gonna go insane waiting on new release like we used to . But 2k.change all that by delivering what they promise. A sim game representing the nba.

gona download it like i did for 2k12,2k13 and didnt regret it i think this year it would be difficult for 2k to convice players to buy their product they need something strong a new game engine maby idk

The basic idea is cool...but with the way they're implemented, it has turned online into even more of an arcade dunkfest and some of the concepts underlying stuff like artificial 4th quarter boosts for superstars feel like the game should be called Skip Bayless Ball 2k13 instead...

Is the payoff really worth it? Now every big man stiff can pull off AND1 moves. Also, with the addition of the ankle breaker gimmick, all you have to do is mindless iso move spamming until scripted breakdown animations make any defensive effort useless.

A matter of taste really. I understand why people like it...On the other hand, aren't all the players already on classic teams? So with some jersey templates, we could create the Dream Team anyway and 2k could use the money for more retro NBA teams. Either way, it's hardly a stellar achievement to add one team to a game.

Never played it, not interested in 99 rated guards dunking all over the place. But it's a nice feature I guess.

Association improvements

Lol, what? Which improvements? Generated defensive big men with 3pt tendencies higher than prime Kobe? 10 players rated >75 OVR in most draft classes, turning every team in the 96 Bulls after a few years of playing?
Broken playcalling logic for generated PGs?

All I see is a half-a**ed franchise mode with flaws that have been there all the way back to 2k3...

So yeah, more wristbands and shoes won't cut it, at least for me. Pretty much everything they've added was more style than substance, and I'm not spending money on that.

You know what I find hilarious? Overly vocal people that have nothing but complaints about 2K, supposedly "hardcore", want sim, sim, and more SIM - such as yourself - but openly admit you hope EA releases an NBA game because "you DO want to get that". Despite that game's quality when they did try to release it, despite the fact that they haven't shown so much as a feature list, a screenshot - even shown that they intend to release a NBA game in the first place. 2K has to "step up", but you'll buy a Live game sight unseen. Completely laughable. And of course you leave yourself wiggle room with saying maybe you won't wait to get 2k14. Wishy-washiness at it's finest.

The adage, "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" comes to mind when I think of many of you that complain incessantly.

All I can say is I'm definitely going to revisit this thread when 2K starts releasing information, and the game releases. Because I feel many of the complainers are being disingenuous. As for me, I'll be standing in that long line waiting to get the game at midnight release.
