Re: OK enough complaining..who will get NBA 2K14?
I will most likely be buying the game but it will be based off what I see prior to release. I hope this thread and others give 2K some reason to swing the gameplay towards the sim side or give us better options to do so. Developers, LD2K read these boards so they know our issues on how things on the "sim" side are. I think they need two engines a casual switch and a sim switch and that would cater to all of the fans. I have in my head what 2K will improve based off what I see and what I read here
1. Blocking dunks, blocking in general
2. Contact, contact in the paint
3. Roster /ratings roster update strategy for league not just cherry picking players
4. Rebounding
5. Accesory/sneaker updates
6. Signature style/package, dribbling, layups, sizeups etc.Last edited by stillfeelme; 05-05-2013, 10:27 AM.Comment

Re: OK enough complaining..who will get NBA 2K14?
So out of the box, the game could definitely be more challenging and complex than 2k13, but for ranked online (which is a playground for children, anyway) they could simply raise dunk/vertical/ballhandling and lower contact and defense.
That way fans more interested in highlight reels can spin dunk for days while maintaining the framework of a serious representation of real life basketball.
I think the approach of making the game more complex and simplifying certain aspects for online gaming mass appeal is much easier to do than the opposite way, which is in some sense an issue with 2k12/13. We'll see...
They've given Leftos a job opportunity, which is promising for more serious basketball fans. So people at 2k appear to disagree with the "You're all just haters, 2k13 is perfect"-club, since much of Leftos effort was devoted to fixing issues some blind fanboys won't even acknowledge at least according to some stuff written in this thread.Comment

Agree with the contact in the paint. If I remember I think the demo had more of a sim feel.
Blocks and rebs I think are way overblown complaints. Adjust your camera angle, box out, and play positional defense instead of jumping for everything. I'm actually a friggn beast on the boards with my big man. At worst, slight tweaks. Curious if these are the only reasons some think the game isn't "sim"? Like yall gotta be more specific. As for me I think this game represents basketball pretty well aside from the overpowered zone D and glitch shots.
Is someone foolish to make this a midnight purchase? Hell nah. 2k has earned that by releasing good games year after year. Anything short of a really dumb dumb move -- like randomly getting rid of Association -- and this is a release-day buy.Last edited by Ramboooo; 05-06-2013, 04:01 AM.Comment

Re: OK enough complaining..who will get NBA 2K14?
The game has started declining since 2k12. 2k9 was great, 2k10 was an improvement, 2k11 was an even greater improvement. 2k12 was alright, they tried to make the game more realistic with live ball physics. This is were the defense started getting worse, most likely because they wanted to show off all the new dribble moves they put in place. Also, with no Live, they needed to grab some of the casual crowd.
2k13 was their attempt to grab the casual crowd almost completely. The game is almost 100% offensively oriented. Unrealistic dunks, unnecessary dribble moves, spin layups/dunks always work. Etc

Re: OK enough complaining..who will get NBA 2K14?
I still have 2K basketball games (from NBA 2K to 2K7, but last generation system). But, the problem is that I haven't play them since 2K8 (with CP3 on the gaming cover box) As for NBA 2K13, I don't know why gamers dislike the game. I might rent NBA 2K14 when it comes out.Comment

Don't understand why people need to continue to argue back and forth about the game. It plays a great game of basketball in many aspects and I love all the animations, yet has flaws in certain areas that need to be addressed.
2K13 is an improvement over 2K12, but missed the mark in removing the D-League and the skill level tiers. They also botched the pre-release bonus all-star weekend events that need to be greatly improved. I'm definitely buying 2K14 on release day and hoping the issues I have are recitified, while I can't wait to see what Visual Concepts does with next-generation technology.
