Re: NBA 2K14 Official MyCAREER Thread

    Hey Guys,

Quick question.. just created my guy, but I have to start it all over tonight. Is there anything I should avoid? What settings should I use? I just saw something about the All Star Weekend glitch?

And, is this mode worth playing? or is it a headache like the past few years?

What quarter length do you guys play? In 2k13 I could never find an ideal length because when I did become the starter finally, the coach NEVER took me out of the game no matter how low my stamina was.

Also some say anything other than playing PG is a headache, is that true? I noticed some of that when I made a Center that was 7"2 with decent rebounding ratings and I still couldn't grab more than 5-6 rebounds a game. (Maybe I just sucked at manual rebounding)

I play on Superstar Default 8 mins Quarters. The scores would avg around 90-100 each game. However, until I was a starter, I played 12 min quarters.

So I assume we can't edit our sock length?

My GM just traded Kevin Love for Blake Griffin. Straight man for man trade.

            Think about this.

I don't even want to continue this play-through now.

More kicked balls in this game than Fifa 14. Can't believe I wasted $60 on this junk. This game better be enjoyable on PS4.

                I'm sorry for your loss.

I can't continue with the 'Wolves, the schedule glitch happened to me and I'd rather not skip all the way to the playoffs(28 games), especially while averaging 31 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 7.1 apg, 3.6 bpg and 2.0 spg through 54 games. At least no until I get a dev yes or no on a patch.

I would honestly stop playing if that happened to me.

What an amazing mode this would be if we could load are own draft class, the generated suck so bad it's embarrassing to play against/with them, no variety they are mostly slashers which sucks as well.

Has anyone had any luck joining The Park? I'm still getting this message

I have no idea what to do and I've already started a MyPlayer, it's a bit frustrating

Can someone give me a good release to use?

I have gone through several, but still find myself bricking wide-open A+ release shots with my SF (94 3pt w/ boost)

It's extremely annoying that I am barely shooting 40% from three when I only take the wide open ones.

Otherwise I am doing fine, it could be that I am playing on HOF/Sim but my other stats are good:

                        29.9 pts - 10.3 rbs - 7.4 ast - 1.6 stl - 3.1 blk

And i'm leading the leauge in fg% at 65%

But I can't make the open threes. Even with level 3 dead-eye (despite the fact I'm wide open most of the time anyway)

Again: All my releases are 100% Excellent A+ or A shots. What gives?

No, I don't expect to make all my shots, and there is a lot more realism this year in terms of makes/misses.

But when I am selective and work to get good position for my shots, I should be rewarded more often than not.

If I was shooting crazy fading shots or contested shots early in the shot clock, I would understand the misses more.

                          I have a theory.

It's pretty easy to get open on this game if you're attributes are right. I'm assuming by what you said that you are playing solid offense as a shooter so you're getting a lot of open looks. Too many open looks for the 2K algorithm's liking, lol. They simply can't let you make 8 3's in a row. I've had great shooters get like 8 open looks a quarter and just can't make more than 3 in a row. And the wide open ones hurt the most cause the 90s should almost guarantee those.

                          Dang, I'm becoming an OS'er.

Oh, I know this. I know that if I've made two shots in a row with someone- in any game mode.. it's really unlikely I'll make the third shot.

It's the opposite of what should happen.. so what I tend to do is pass the ball to someone else or try to attack the basket instead of take another jumper.

Like you said, 2k just doesn't want that to happen so it forces a miss most times.

So, my guy's on the Hawks, I became a starter in my 9th game and I'm averaging 20 and 7 in 9 games, but I requested a trade after game 6 since our team is seriously awful, even with Millsap and Horford. So my question to you guys is, do you think its more worth it to get good stats and be a star right away on a garbage team or to work your way up with a playoff squad?

After a heartbreaking loss to the Thunder in a 3-2 series losing at home, the Pelicans were crushed. However my spirits were lifted when the GM listened to my off season suggestion and signed Kobe Bryant (he was on the Warriors the year before). No idea how long Kobe has left given it's my third and contract year but I'm making it my mission to get him his 6th ring. Eric Gordon will probably be shipped at some point if I can have it happen but a back up backcourt of Jrue and Gorden is insane along with Kobe and I starting.

I had planned to sim my third season entirely and just foul out key games but this added storyline boosted my interest.

Three years in and I'm an 81 overall and still able to take over games when I need to. I'd say working your way up on a playoff squad is more fun to me because you can do less work with more talent. Plus when your contract comes up, you might be tempted to want to build your own legacy as the star and by then have the stats to do it.
