I like to play h2h and online because I em=njoy the competition. I don't even care about winning or losing. I just want the game to respect basic principles of fundamental hoops...Not reward boneheady arcade-ish gameplay.

THE problem with this game is that it ewards arcade play online and all but discourages fundamental realistic hoops. Its a terrible game online when you meet up with a player who decides that he won't run plays or do anyting other than dribble around the perimeter with Kirk Heinrich and pop CONTESTED threes possession after possession. Then to make matters worse when a shot is missed the rebounding logic is all screwed up because the offensive team gets their own rebound over and over for more 3's....its really disgusting and makes this game Unplayable for uys who want realistic online hoop.

I don't even care if a guy plays cheesy...I just don't think the game should cater or reward that style of play...SMH
You DO have the option, you choose not to use it.

This is so true; I hate playing online due to the stupidity of lots of random players, but when I do I play friends that I know don't play like idiots. I play in leagues with people I know from school, my neighborhood and the military; that way I'm not playing the same group of friends everyday and I can get different styles to play against.

These are my opinions based off of my perspective. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but if you disagree, we can still agree to disagree agreeably and not fight about it.

This is quite an amazing statement. Really? Offline doesn't just mean against the CPU. Find a friend! OR, find a friend and play them online. Sounds to me like the OP, who, of course, plays "perfect" basketball, lost. Starts pitching a fit on the forums to get the parrots going.

        Basically a non-event.

One, I think the post you're referring to meant NBA2K being one of the more sim sports titles out period.

But to your post, NBA2K being the only basketball title available actually says a lot. NBA2K hasn't benefited from having an exclusive license to make NBA games. In a completely open market they've put out a product so good that no one's chosen to release a competing product to go against it for several years running. And still some of you online-only people choose to fault the game instead of looking at yourselves and your choice of opponent.

If you jumped on a real court and chose to play a random guy you have no rules governing how hard the guy may/may not play - expecting him to magically know to play to your sensibilities is silly. It's funny to see some of these online complaints - someone complains their opponent was able to hit every three they through up, but they couldn't hit anything = game's fault. Someone got 15 more offensive rebounds than I did = game's fault. Then worse, come online and complain it's the game's fault. There was a guy last week blaming the game for any/everything but when he posted video and everyone told him he wasn't playing very realistically, his feelings got hurt and he dropped off the forums. Not everyone chooses to play the game the game the same way. You want to play randoms, you should be willing to accept that.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Stop playing randoms plain and simple. You'll never stop a cheeser from cheesing no matter what.

I think this online stuff is the worst thing that's ever happened to this game.

You online guys will NEVER stop complaining for said reason no matter what it is.

I can't stand 2k catering to this kind of stuff and the CPU AI fundamental base of the game taking a beating because of it. Online is not and should not be the #1 priority over the core game.

Bottom line, you have options both online and offline you choose not to take advantage of then its just too bad.

NBA 2k has never been an online only game anyway.

I have friends who do play legit...But in this day and age we should be at the point where you can just play the game and have a great experience even when your opponent attempts to cheese...I'm not concerned about people cheesing because I'm not the type to think I can legislate the way someone else enjoys the game..The only beef I have is when a game that is supposed to be a sim rewards players who play the exact opposite of sim.

The responsibility is not on the gamer...its on 2k to tighten up gameplay. The gameplay online from stability issues to basic gameplay is terrible. So I have to laugh when people go goo goo ga ga over this game...Its a joke.

Look, most of my experiences with the 2K series have been online and I ran online franchise leagues for many years. I feel your pain but the factor that people need to consider accepting is, you can't control what other people do and how they play. You can find people who match your playing style in general but there will always be a few fundamental differences that typically seem to matter most in crucial situations. Those are the times that generate controller throwing moments and angry outbursts that involve the word "cheeser" or some variation of the idea.

I'm not against interacting with others online and do enjoy it myself from time to time. The thing I think is ironic is that people get so mad about how the game plays but don't want to put in the time to create an experience to resemble their perfect idea of what the game should feel and play like. Now I'm not saying this to or about anyone, especially not the OP. I'm just saying you have to know that it's a video game so when you are playing against someone who bends and plays 2K "like a video game" it still provides them with the experience they were looking for. When someone who knows basketball plays it as a simulation, it still provides them with the experience "they" were looking for. You really can't get mad because someone who is an arcade style player, is good at being an arcade style player.

What I mean by "create an experience to resemble their perfect idea of how the game should feel or play", I'm talking about the cpu and slider adjustments. You have complete control over that. If you want a true simulation experience, the cpu is programmed to provide exactly what you are looking for. Heck, they even pipe in real life player data to make the players mirror the abilities and tendencies of their real life counterparts. So if you are looking for technical simulation style play, you can't get any better gameplay-wise than playing offline. Now, if you are looking for head to head match ups with a human, you simply have to accept that everyone has their own idea of how the game should be played and that sometimes doesn't sync in user vs user online games and can actually basically break the programming balance and make the game rather unplayable at times.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just adding to your perspective from mine. You don't have to agree with it, or change your mind about anything but just accept the possibility that there is an alternate interpretation of how things are and you make the choice of which one you accept as the truth.
Im just a bit more simplistic in my approach to gaming...I play online and I think in this day and age developers should be able to make a game that plays like a simulation right outta the box...I'm not looking to tailor the game to my style or legislate the way people play...If the game is supposed to be a sim...Then all I'm asking is for it to perform as advertised.

If you bought a luxuary sedan and it was touted as the smoothest ride on the market...You then wouldn't expect to have to buy certain tires or make umteen modificatios to do what its already been advertised to do...would you?

If its a sim...just play like a sim. thats all...no more no less.

2K needs to fix it regardless of whether people change the way they play or not. People play quick match because there's someone to play all the time, you don't have to wait until one of your friends is on. It really doesn't matter whether your opponent is playing sim or not in that sense, because if they're not, you should be blowing them out every single time.

Although I don't disagree that playing smart and sim ultimately rewards you, it still seems your shooters can miss wide open shots A+ release way too often. I counted a time where I missed 8 consecutive wide open jumpers (B+ or higher and most were A's), while my opponent was hitting bad shots. It happens, whether you like to think it doesn't or not is irrelevant.

I also don't see why some of you guys jump on people telling them to play offline. It is an option, but so is playing online. It'd be like you guys complaining the sliders aren't working properly for offline and I comment to go "play online". That isn't really an answer or solution.

I, for one, cannot stand playing offline. I don't have people to come over and play offline either. I don't know what kind of solution that is. This is 2013 and online gaming/competition should be a big part of every game, especially sports titles. Telling someone to play offline, because you prefer it is kind of silly.

I know where the OP is coming from, but my advice to him is not to make threads like this as they never go well. Regardless, if you don't care about winning/losing people will always call you a cry baby even if you actually won the game or you win nearly every time.

I know these type of threads are kind of silly, but it is pointless to attack someone or act like they are cheesy or just have bad sportsmanship. It just turns into big arguments over nothing.

I would like to think that is the reason, but I've had games where Durant and Curry miss wide open jumpers all game off plays or kick outs. Yet my opponent can go down and knock down contested 3's with 70 or under players. This doesn't happen often enough for me to make a big deal out of it, but I know it can be annoying when playing online where people zone you.

Terrible analogy bro...Why?...because 2K is touted as a simulation. lets be clear here...I don't care if someone hits 30 outta 30 3's as long as they are doing it in a manner that makes sense and represents simulation gameplay. 30 outta 30 is oviobusly my use of an absurd example but its not about the shots just going in...Its the circumstances that surround the shots being effective...the way people hit 3's online is simply not representative of how it is in the real NBA...Then on top of that factor in the idiotic circumstances such as 5-6 consecutive rebounds that go back to the same team for 3 after 3 after 3...Its a hot mess online and it doesn't matter who you play or how thy play most of the time.
