It shouldn't matter who anyone plays...if the game is supposed to be a sim...then the expectation is that it will perform as a sim....Cheesers don't concern or bother me...If the game was a true sim cheesy gameplay would not be rewarded...Again...I don't try to judge or dictate the way someone plays...My expectation is that the game holds cheesers accountable for those gameplay actions that are the opposite of sim.

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
I;d disagree...I think SLIDERS say that more than simulation...Simulation is pretty much an absolute defined concept in most sports genres. Sliders pretty much tailor the game to the way one person wants toplay. I don't do sliders and I don't ave anything against them but if developers could actually come through and provide a real simulation experience...sliders would not be necessary.Comment

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
If it REALLY upsets you that much, don't you have the option to just stop buying and playing the game? This isn't a question just the OP, but to everyone that is constantly complaining about the state of online play, over and over again.
Honestly the only solution I can think of is to just suck it up and deal with the way it is, or just stop playing the game.Comment

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
Real life isn't perfect - players use performance enhancing drugs, refs miss calls, players do any/everything to gain an edge against an opponent, etc. No different than a random opponent is going to do online; they're playing to win. As 23 said, cheesing/cheating is never going to be completely eliminated - you're always going to run up against someone willing to do any and everything to win by any means necessary. And you online-only guys (only the ones that complain incessantly that is) will continue to complain, thinking falsely thinking a videogame can be this idealistic perfect representation they think the game can be.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
The game is a joke, the basic gameplay is terrible, and yet... here you are playing it. And for whatever reason you think your opinion/sensibilities are the ones that 2K should be listening to.

its funny how I've never seen so many people eager to just say...accept it...don't play it...but the same people saying accept it or don't play online will cry all day long about other sports game...Hypocritical?...double standard???...I dunno...you decide.
2K can't be happy with the way this game performs online...People who play online deserve better and even if you don't play online you should want the game to play well in all modes.. Guys saying don't play online or online is not important is a statment coming from a closed mind. its 2013...people want to interact with others online...everything we do in this world now is about interaction.
What would most of you say if the problem was switched an online played great and offline was terrible?...I couldn't imagime saying something absurd like..."Games are meant to be played H2H and against others...don't play the cpu then"...smhComment

See, I never liked the grade. It's not in depth, I want to know what I did to CAUSE the grade/what I need to do to IMPROVE it. To me, right now, it's just a letter, no real report on what it is or how to improve it or it truly being accurate.

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
And of course, that's the thing you'll hide behind - "the game is supposed to be a sim". YOUR interpretation of a sim of course. By most accounts the game skews far more sim than it does arcade, despite the vast majority of the game's fanbase being casual fans. If anything it would make far better financial sense to cater the game to them. They don't, but that's not enough for you.
No matter what 2K does, it's never going to be enough for you because the game is never going to be perfect - and there will always be people out there willing to exploit flaws.
Now that being said...I doubt very much that it is possible for Kirk Heinrich to come down court dribble around the perimeter back n forth while not passing, scooch up to his hot spot and hit 39% of his 3's while taking 18 of them on a regular basis. Maybe thats possible once or twice but a steady diet of it...I think not...But maybe for you thats realistic. This sort of gameplay is no different from the days when you could play Madden, hike the ball and turn and sprint backwards 30 yds and complete passes...If people didn't call that garbage it it woild still be in the game...Or lets take it a step further...what if you could routinely complete 1 outta 4 long bombs in a football game and thats all people did?...would that be acceptable..or would you want the develoers to fix that sort of gameplay?...I guess not...you'd probably say...Only playthe cpu or friends...smh
I'm assuming that your one of those 2K can do no wrong and I will defend it till the end...Thats cool...Don't take my complaint personal...The online part of this game is not good...2k is still a great game...they just need to improve online play. I aint even mad or upset...Just telling it like it is hoping that 2k will hear people that are concerned about online play.Last edited by dat swag; 10-26-2013, 09:02 PM.Comment

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
I never said 2K can do no wrong; as I said the game is flawed and will always be flawed. But as long as you refuse to accept that, you're always going to allow yourself to get frustrated playing someone that doesn't play the game the way you want them to play it imo.HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
Im just a bit more simplistic in my approach to gaming...I play online and I think in this day and age developers should be able to make a game that plays like a simulation right outta the box...I'm not looking to tailor the game to my style or legislate the way people play...If the game is supposed to be a sim...Then all I'm asking is for it to perform as advertised.
If you bought a luxuary sedan and it was touted as the smoothest ride on the market...You then wouldn't expect to have to buy certain tires or make umteen modificatios to do what its already been advertised to do...would you?
If its a sim...just play like a sim. thats all...no more no less.Comment

Re: Most idiotic online game ever
Playing offline is not an option for many of us...I never play vs the cpu other than some practice or freestyle mode. These games and all of our tech devices these days are made to interact with others. No offense to anyone but sitting around playing a cpu and staring at franchise stats and allthat is not my idea of a good time.
I like to play h2h and online because I em=njoy the competition. I don't even care about winning or losing. I just want the game to respect basic principles of fundamental hoops...Not reward boneheady arcade-ish gameplay.
THE problem with this game is that it ewards arcade play online and all but discourages fundamental realistic hoops. Its a terrible game online when you meet up with a player who decides that he won't run plays or do anyting other than dribble around the perimeter with Kirk Heinrich and pop CONTESTED threes possession after possession. Then to make matters worse when a shot is missed the rebounding logic is all screwed up because the offensive team gets their own rebound over and over for more 3's....its really disgusting and makes this game Unplayable for uys who want realistic online hoop.
I don't even care if a guy plays cheesy...I just don't think the game should cater or reward that style of play...SMHComment

Most idiotic online game ever
Kirk may not wiggle back and forth and then shoot from his most comfortable spot on the floor, you are right, but he could. And if he did, he would probably hit 39% from the spot. That's the meaning of simulation. The game isn't designed to mimic the actions of real basketball, it's supposed to simulate the principles of the environment in which the game is played. I really feel they have done an amazing job of it honestly. 2K has given us, the users, the freedom and control to interpret that environment however we choose.
The moment you start taking away the freedom to choose your experience is the moment we are forced to see the game the way one person thinks the game ought to be played. Variety is what makes the game fun. The way Memphis is the grind house, and the Lakers are show time. When Layola Marymount was putting points on the board back in the days of Hank Gathers (R.I.P.) and Bo Kimble, no one in the world screamed "Cheesers!" They developed strategies to slow them down and simply got in better shape to face them. As a basketball coach and trainer, I have learned that there is no one way to play the game. Not as a coach, not as a player, not as a specific position, not in any capacity. So you got cheesed, I can guarantee you for almost every thing you consider cheesy, I can find a real life situation that will make it ok, at least once.
