I have to correct myself. I DO occasionally play random folks. The last dude I played tried to cheese. All I did was just made sure that EVERY shot he took, there was a hand in his face. Forget steals. Forget blocks. Just contest EVERY shot. Dude, I swear, it works FAR more than it does not. Why? Because when cheesers have less success then they are used to, they flip out, panick, and go away from their gameplan. It's REALLY funny (and very gratifying) to beat those people. And they have nothing to say when it's over. You beat them, and they can't figure out how? I'm giggling just thinking about that game. Dude went up by 16 in the first quarter. And I slowly took over. Maybe that was the same dude that was parroting about comeback logic. (I'm going to regret that, am I?)

The ability to reach out and try for a steal any time I want is definitely simulation IMO...Live 10 took that ability away from us and got major backlash for it....

Is a completely different story...do we want this to be dependent on the NBA league average, or should it be contextual? What if it's contextual and the ball handler is sloppy, we make the right decision and we steal the ball 10 times...is that still simulation? Or have we broken that code since that's way above league average for a single player in a game?

How do you contest? Do you tap RS during the shot or do you just mash it down early (which seems to take an entire second to come up)?

Speaking of cheesers, that is exactly what my friend does. Once he goes on a bad run, he'll start gunning with Harden from the left wing and corner over and over and over again, missing them all, even with a defender in his grill. It's quite interesting to see when it happens.

Meanwhile he usually takes semi-okay to slightly-cheesy shots most of the game and works his somewhat cheesy inside out game. I know I just need to get him to freak and collect rebounds.

In fairness...I also agree that its close. alot closer than most sports game...i guess most of my angst came after the recent patch...I played a game and for once I saw someone miss 3's and I had hope tht they fixed the online gameplay issues...But my hopes were dashed quickly when i played 33-4 successive games and the same old problems popped up again...

I appreciate what 2k does and I look forward to the future of their product. Hopefully they can get it right online

Should the user be tasked with protecting the ball properly. Or should be that an intrinsic of the game itself? This is a BIG question. Why? One of the problems with the game is that the dribbler doesn't protect the ball properly. So you see an exposed ball, and you hit steal. I mean, it's RIGHT there. So, does the user have to ALWAYS do a series of actions just to protect the ball? I'd hate having to manage that all the time. However, as with the steal animations, the game "automatically" protects for you. Some people feel that takes control away. THIS is where the desires of the SIM and CASUAL audience diverge. And it sucks, because both sides are equally valid. But THIS is a big part of the issues with onball steals.

            Food for thought...

IMO thats a narrowminded view of where gaming is in this day and age

Lets be CLEAR...I make a choice to prefer ONLINE play...I have an expectation that a sim game that promotes NBA simulation will come close to simulation in all modes. I don't want to talk to a dev...I do want them to hear what consumers have been complaining about for a long time though. The deficiencies in online are not a mystery or secret. They have been the same every year since at least 2009.

It don't even make sense to say online is less important than offline while we are communicating ONLINE...LOL...When you find a dev that agrees with you be sure to have him share those thoughts and I'll never post another complaint. Real talk.

You can choose to play online all day, and knowing what you'll get against randoms doesn't allow you the freedom to call people trolls or narrowminded when its not lining up to you agenda.

As BB said, you wouldn't even be here if you didn't lose and I have no doubts about that.

If you can't find and refuse to use a better way to get over to the people who make the game about whats going on then don't expect anybody to feel sorry for you when your ego is beat to mashed potatos by some random on the internet.

..and you can disagree til you're blue in the face, but the core game is absolutely the most important thing. If online is not working there is still a game to be played that works very well. All of the things that make this game at the core starts with the game at its most basic, which is definitely not online.

Im not against technology, I think i've made my points clear enough for you to understand, but it doesn't matter because it seems like you just want to rant. Whatever other solutions at your disposal is "not an option" so im not exactly sure why even come here looking for sympathy. Your one experience doesn't make this game any less sim, wherever that might be on the imaginary scale.

I'm kind of curious about that myself. I think the cheesy part is that in some cases, we should just spam until we get a steal, rather than poke the ball loose with good timing. Overall, 2K14 is a bit on the cheesy, spammy side, but I'm not sure it's the worst its ever been. I haven't encountered anything completely disproportionate to reality... yet.

I pretty much an itchy RS thumb. Sometimes, I get beat, but swapping to the help defender is huge. Most of the time, they are in good position to help. Sometimes I'm late, but if you get the hands up before he releases the ball, you're OK. It's better than nothing. I play off a step and rely on hands up giving me the shot contest.

Yea, once cheesers find a strategy, they unlearn everything else. The KEY to beating a cheeser is to take that favorite cheese away. The game is a cakewalk after that. Even if you have to play not-sim for a few minutes, it's worth it.

With all due respect...I can't get past the part when you ASSUME...I care about losing or winning...Let me spell that part out for you since you seem to ASSUME I have a reason to not be honest...I don't care about winning or losing...I only care about the experience of playing a game that resembles simulation...Doesn't have to be perfect simulation either. Anymore questions?...Have I made that crystal clear for ya...hope so...Have a good one.

I don't think either situation is wrong if you will. There should be consequences for both, a sloppy ball handler and a guy who is constantly lunging for the ball.. I guess its a pick and choose depending on what is being done in a particular year but in most cases the offense was always the recipient of most of the outcomes.

I think that you wouldnt have been here had you won that game tonight that made you go on a rant, thats what I think, im not assuming anything.
Otherwise you would've been on here complaining like this long ago.

This has nothing to do with your desire to win or lose, that makes me no difference. If you care about a better experience then play people you know or someone who cares to not do what that other user did, but since you excused that as not an option, then we must conclude that you dont give a rats behind about other available options that might better suit your wants.

here is the part where we agree to disagree...You believe that people should only play people who play like them...Thats fine and a good option. While I don't disagree with you...I also believe that a simulation game should allow me to play anyone I want and even if they cheese...so what....So lets just leave it at that. We think differently and have different expectations. Period.

BTW..Its kinda strange to keep assuming I lost a game...Just kind of a weird thing to just randomly keep saying unless you meant to follow it up with a LOL.
