WOW, I don't know how old some of you guys are...But some people sound like this game or gaming on the whole is their whole life. Who cares if the TO's are messed up. Its still a good "Past time", and still the best NBA game out..Some people here sound like they are crying. "I'll never buy this game again, boo hoo" stop crying, get a life...Its only a game. I made a complaint about the roster updates. But damn that was a complaint, not a petty cry. The game sells for a certain price..If something is wrong just remember you pay for what you get, and this year you still got a lot for $20.

This is not towards everyone complaining. Just to those saying they will never play the game again or buy it, return it for refund etc.

Everyone has a right to complain. Different people have different priorities. Just because you don't feel it's a big issue doesn't mean it isn't. And for certain people, they are just fed up with the way Visual Concepts is going about their development of these sports games. The lack of timeouts isn't the only thing that's frustrating them, it's a symptom of a much larger problem with Visual Concepts. Hence, there are people out there who choose not to support their games until Visual Concepts changes their business practices.

But someone as immature as yourself would never understand that, I guess.

I feel you zig. Sure, everybody has a right to complain, and I hope we all do, so that we get a better product next year. But I could care less if someone says "I'll never buy another VC game" because that is not the point. If the game sucked, and had all these problems, I would have just chucked it or traded in for something else. The point is the game is hot, but has these bugs, which makes it even worse because you want to play the game, but you know that is has problems. I'm not complaining because I bought a game from VC that was crappy, I'm complaining 'cuz its so good, but it has a gamekilling flaw, IMO. That's all; I can't wait for 2k6 (hopefully they'll get it right next time).

Great post! I'm sure you're not the first person to admit this, but you are the first one that I have seen. Aside from the obviously different menu layout and the recruiting features and attempt at making free throw shooting a better experience, CH2K5 is essentially a toned-down NBA2K5 with the same ol' stupid AI and scriptedness.

I remember Intellivision's first baseball game, where the ball was just a dot, all your fielders were controlled as one unit, and the ball didn't even leave the ground. But it was all we had, and we knew the technology sucked.

Then as things got more advanced, and we began to see what was really possible - sure we started asking for more. If you buy only 2 sports games a year, that's $100 a year (before Sega rockbottomed their **** games). Buy them all including Nascar and Soccer - you're right around $500 a year. Take 10 years, and you've spent damn near enough to put a downpayment on a house on **** that never seems to work right.

I mean, they can make online games such as FFXI, EQ, etc - and they play GREAT, and as they are supposed to. If there's an issue it's fixed nearly immediately. How is it that companies like Square and Black Isle, etc - can put out such amazing titles - yet they've had engines for NFL2K, Madden, NBA2K, Live and so many more for YEARS and they can't even fix small bugs.

It's annoying. Playstation 2 games can be patched nearly as easily as XBox if you have online. Look at Socom 2 - it's gone through a few patches, all it does is save it to the memory card. And I know MANY gamers who have the HDD. If you can release a roster update, how come you can't release a small patch?

As I said, it's getting really annoying.
So very well put, jayjackson! You're obviously a seasoned gamer, and companies like Sega, VC, etc. could take a cue from us seasoned gamers. But, they don't....the reason we never get these simple, yet game-realism-killing bugs fixed is because the game companies feel the average sports gamer is some 12 year old on Ritalin, who isn't going to play the gamer longer than five to ten minutes, and never even give it a second thought as to why the computer isn't calling timeouts. Admittedl, when I was a teenager and playing Coach K, I too never asked myself "why isn't the computer calling timeouts???". So, I think there is something fishy going on here. Seriously, are all the developers and testers for VC and like companies non-sports nuts? Do they just sit on Slashdot and hack their Linux boxens when they're not programming or designing sports games? I'd think not. I'm waiting in dying pain for the day when someone with far more power than I starts up a class action suit or something along the lines of commercial litigation against these gaming communities, to the affect that we can get refunds on our games (and not have to wait months for the refunds like you do on Best Buy rebates, LOL) if these games aren't truely improved each version.

Speaking of commercial litigation, my wife and I had to threaten pursuance of commercial litigation against the local phone company (Southeast Telephone) in order to get them to come out (they sent a BellSouth technician, so the two might be connected) and replace the "box" outside our home, where the telephone connection goes into the home. We'd been waiting since July, with poor service (dropped connections), and heard every excuse on the planet -- "our technicians have gone down to Florida to help out with hurricane victims" -- until...we threatened action if they weren't out at the house by 12pm the next day. They got here at 8:30am, so threatening legal action is unfortunately the only way to get companies to put out quality products these days. I can think of other methods of invoking action, but they aren't so nice :-) Should we perhaps go after the game development companies in this manner???

wow what a thread, Here is what I found out at E3 after talking a a lot of the developers. I heard from quite a few of them that the OS forums are one of the first places the game makers go after release to "see what bugs are in their game". So im sure this and any other issues that are beaten to death here will be addressed next year.
