I just decided to keep playing, despite my humiliating, ego crushing defeats. These sliders are really addicting, and make me want to keep going and try to win.
Good job, man. I just extended my losing streak to 0-4, losing to the Pistons. I love how I've been improving in each game, though. Offensively, I focused on getting good looks with ALL of my players, rather than leaning heavily on LeBron and Wade. That worked out really well, allowing me to better exploit mismatches.

Now, I need to focus on defense. I lost last night because I let them shoot 53% from the field and they pulled away in the 4th quarter (lost by 9). Part of the problem was that I tried to defend the PG position all night, even though I had trouble staying in front of them (which has been a problem since moving up to All-Star). No more of that. Starting next game, I'll guard the least offensive threat and let my teammates handle the other guys.

Boston is coming to town next, and I'm already game-planning in my mind. Can't wait to get back to it. I know my first win is coming soon!

if u want to win, u have to play on-ball defense most of the time.

The stats with these are perfect for me, but i can´t seem to win because in the 3rd quarter, ALWAYS in the 3rd quarter, the cpu just KILLS me!!!

I call timeout´s, im focused, i don´t panic, but they ALWAYS go on a streak in the 3rd...

However, in the end... the stats are good. I usually concede only between 44 and 47 field goal percentage (mine is around the same), but in the end... i lose by 8 or 10...

Im with the Pacers though, so, not THAT great of a team...

Same here. I have to scratch, fight and claw to stay with the CPU in the 1st half. I've actually put together some nice 3rd Quarter runs lately and I've been playing really good ball in the 4th quarter. I think my late-game advantage comes from managing my subs; I make sure I rest my starters and don't bring them back in until they have a full 5 bars of energy.

My team normally performs decently in the 1st half. It's usually in the 2nd half that my players suddenly forget all about this "basketball" thing I'm making them play.

Would these sliders work with custom rosters? The CPU has been too generic for me, using the 2K ones. I'm not seeing much of a difference between each team's offense and defense.

I think these sliders work with any rosters... I don't use one set when creating them, but tested them on all kinds.

I played a crazy game last night before bed... 91-92 season rosters... I pick two random teams... I was the Bulls (me) at the Trail Blazers (cpu). They jumped out to a 12 point lead and I thought "great...here we go again..." But I pulled back and only trailed by 3 after 1. Then I got it going (well, actually Jordan did) and I outscored them 35 to 19 in the 2nd and I was leading by 23 after 3 quarters. Then the excitement began and Portland got to within 6 pts before I closed it out. I won 108-98. Jordan finished with 36 and Pippen had 24 and filled the stat sheet in other areas. I kept running Pippen off those baseline picks and had a lot of options to either score or pass...

The variety is amazing to me, and I haven't tweaked a thing. Shooting percentages are spot-on and the stats across the board are near perfect.

Is anyone having trouble with 3-pointers?

I'm not taking dumb ones, either, the only ones I take are pretty wide open ones... but I've gotten a couple of games where I only shoot 20ish percent. =/

Nope, but then again I'm running a lot of games with the Nuggets right now and they have 4-5 guys that can shoot from 3. So, the first thing would be to look at the team you are using. If it's a team like OKC, you aren't going to hit a lot of 3's as outside of Harden (Durant can hit some and Cook is OK off the bench), they don't shoot a lot of 3's.

Dan... Could you post what tweaks you've made to the slider set? I'd appreciate it... I want to make a comparison to yours and give them a shot (especially your CPU shooting updates, which is what I believe you've changed). Thanks!!

Those are for the CPU. That's all I've changed from your set. It's only a 1-point increase in each category, but it's really helped dial in those CPU shooting percentages.

Thanks, Dan! I plugged those in and ran a test game with a couple teams I've completed from my newest 93-94 rosters. I was Utah at home vs. the Lakers (cpu). I lost by 12... But, the cpu shot 47% against me, so I REALLY like these changes.

My problem is that I shot a terrible percentage. What I'm learning is that you have to run plays or this game will punish you. I did a lot of freelance crap (I was in a bit of a hurry because I had to head out with some work-related stuff) and got punished for it.

                              Thanks for sharing those!

No problem. I had my butt handed to me in 2 games today. First game was using your 92-93 roster set; I was Orlando, taking on the Suns.

Barkely was a BEAST in the game (no doubt he was the MVP that year and I like that you've got him looking trim like he did that season) and outside of Shaq, I didn't get much in the way of offense and lost 106-90. Shooting percentages were 47% for Phx. and 43% for Orl.

Second game was in my Nuggets Association. Dallas put the screws to me and it was one of those games where I couldn't buy a bucket. I shot 36% for the game and lost by 28.

I usually run a lot of plays, but will also freelance with pick-and-rolls or just pass the ball around and try and find a slasher to attack the rim. Usually I do OK with that strategy, but the ball sometimes just doesn't drop.
