I agree. Kobe vs Bird made absolutely no sense and to be honest, Duncan vs Harden doesn't make much sense either. Maybe they're going for the player you think of first when you think of that team. But that still doesn't make any sense because Harden hasn't even completed 2 years with the Rockets yet. He doesn't deserve to be the player representing the Rockets, that's for sure.

I have no idea why they don't make up these match-ups to actually resemble real 'rivalries'. Everyone knows last time it should have been Magic vs Bird and this time it should have been Robinson vs Olajuwon or if they wanted to go for a more recent look, Duncan vs McGrady/Yao.

Yea, the two Spurs legendary are way better than Yao so I agree, it would make sense for the two legends to be relatively the same in terms of stats.

Because you guys are thinking of the rewards solely for the NBA fan value, and not for how they improve the game.

There are 11 Legendary centers. And they all just got stat increases.

There are 6 Legendary SG, including both Jordans, plus Rivals Kobe (only 20 exist) makes 7.

How does adding Hakeem over Harden help the game?

I admit, Hakeem was the "more deserving" option as a player. But I bet Harden would help a higher percentage of teams.

Moreover... if Hakeem is the Rival, then the only Houston legends are Yao and Howard. So with Hakeem as Rival, if Houston wins you get 2 centers. With Harden as Rival, the Legend is a C and you can improve 2 positions at once instead of strengthening your bench at the second deepest position.

I assume that's why we see Harden and not Hakeem.

True. But now that would mean they'd have to do Celtics/Lakers again but with Magic vs Bird. I don't think we'll see that in a long time obviously due to it being the last event. So why not just have Magic vs Bird in the first place.
But whatever, lol. Just a game, like you said.

i'm curious how it will be when we get the bulls. I would wish it was a Jordan rivals card, and a jordans pro legendary.. but they might make only one of them jordan and the other one pippen. Maybe pippen epic, Rose rivals clash, Jordan legendary/legendary pro?

NWGameDad has already hinted at a Jordan Rivals in a past post so I assume that will be the "ultimate" prize when the Bulls come, and prob the most active Rivals week.

That's another thing I suspect.

NWGD said Spurs vs Rockets... the entire forum instantly said "I pick Rockets, gimme Hakeem". So to ensure teams are more divided evenly... no Hakeem.

You still have Karl Malone and the old Pistons teams in the early 90's. So lots of ways to incorporate Jordan into this.

I know NWGameDad said they're going to do Bulls/Heat but if it's Jordan vs LeBron, James won't win and I'd assume they want LeBron in an event where they'd know he would win.

There are very true rivalries, sure... but this one in particular DOES have some history, and the difference between doing it justice, and doing it how they did, really requires MINIMAL additional work.

Just google "spurs rockets rivalry", and the 1995 Western Conference Finals are pretty much all that's gonna come up. Robinson and Olajuwon are both already in the game, so I'm assuming (possibly mistakenly so) licensing wouldn't be an issue.

Is it a huge deal? Not at all. It just would be a nice touch for Rivalry mode to adhere to the actual rivalry if possible.

I get the impression that there isn't anyone at Cat Daddy that's actually all that into basketball. It seems like they were commissioned to do the app just because they're good mobile devs. That's fine by me. I don't hold that as some huge knock against them, but little touches do go a long way in the overall enjoyment of the game.

Bulls/Heat is a funny case to me.

Jordan only faced The Heat in meaningless early playoff rounds, if I'm not mistaken. The TRUE Bulls/Heat rivalry has more to do with Joakim Noah than Michael Jordan. And even on the other side, Wade hates the Bulls more than Lebron does.

A Rivals Clash featuring Rose vs. James has way more to do with their rivalry than any other match I can think of.

BUT, that being the case, even though they never played, obviously, Jordan vs Lebron IS a rivalry, and it'd be interesting to see it play out. I wouldn't be so sure Jordan's Bulls would win.

If you're Cat Daddy though, where do you go from there? After Jordan v Lebron, what do you do next week? Knicks vs Nets? Who cares..

There shouldn't be Jordan vs LeBron. LeBron's biggest rivalry, I would say has been the celtics. Him and pierce had great battles but I don't think they would ever do pierce rival even though I would support it.
