I actually had some suspicions of bots from the previous rivals (forcing top 10 or top 25 to spend hot streaks) but found out they were in this forum.

I don't really believe in bots being this high up in rankings, but SuperGhian could be a possibility. He's not on the forum and he's finished top 10 in the last two events. Although I highly doubt it.

Back from my trip and can type out a longer response to all the Season comments...


1. I have said this before, but if you're encountering very long Season start times, please send us an in game Feedback message. We need to look at your deck and figure out why it is taking so long.


2. The Seasons with bots are mainly ones with higher end decks in them. This forum is biased with a lot of avid players that have very good decks. Hence why you guys encounter more of the bots than normal. We had to make a choice between continuing to add "trucks" to a Season in order to matchmake everyone, or to take the high end folks and stick them with bots to give the other players a chance to be in competitive Seasons. It's not a great option, but until we have enough players in the high end to match make every few hours with comparable people it was the less problematic solution. I hear the feedback though, and when I go in Monday we will be looking at the data to see whether it is resulting in better matches or not. If not, we will flip back to the old system and hit the drawing board again.


3. Season rewards - Before we touch Season rewards we wanted to get matchmaking improved. Touching a lot of things in a system like this will not give us the right understanding of why it improved, or not. We have discussed ways to improve the Season rewards that will work for low end and high end decks. Until we get matchmaking the way we like though, we're not going to implement the solutions. It is definitely high on our list of things to do for an update. It will not be in the next update we release though. That update is focused on other improvements (and if you own the console game you'll be really happy).


4. Keep in mind when Seasons show players with much lower stats, it is quite possible they are attempting to game the matchmaker. The last guy that posted an opponent with 300-500 per stat just screams, "I'll beat the matchmaker by putting all Commons," while the guy has Rare+ cards in his Collection. That doesn't mean the matchmaker is failing, it simply means it is working to prevent this type of gaming the system. The other part in "trucks" appearing in your Season still is probably related to players acquiring good cards after their Season has started and subbing them in. A completely valid strategy, and why we allow Sub Ins to begin with. If someone drafts or purchases a new card that is better, it is in their best interest to sub it in and improve their Season. Finally, training can have the same effect in increasing their numbers. Although the matchmaker does take into account the training potential of good cards, when someone does train you will see their numbers jump in a Season for "no good reason". There is a good reason, they trained.


5. 1st Round Playoff Reward - It is still set at a Pro card. If you get different rewards please snap a screenshot and post it in the bug forum please. We have discussed changing this reward, you should always be getting the best reward in a Season from winning, but we were planning on changing it when we do the Season reward overhaul mentioned above.

Has any one heard anything about what he said in number 3 where he talks about if you own the console game you will be happy.

You can't calculate average points from the entire event and expect the same for the last hour. As you can see with the server issues/a lot were playing and streaking fast that last hour.
Someone posted a few pages back that there were a bunch of people tied for the 2000 spot (5-6 people with exact 3880 point total). The difference on points are slim at that tier. So with one 5 pt game you can jump 5-10 spots. If they hot streak/they jump much faster. I assume majority/everyone near the bubble hot streaking in the last hour. It's mathematically possible to earn 1000 pts in an hour streaking. Although at that tier I expect them to be gaining less (500 pts/hour).

i didn't expect people keep going at 25 pts/hour in the last hour. i expected 10 times that value, and for that i was prepared.

so, are you saying that hundreds of people on a tier where nobody gives a **** (AUTOCENSORED) made 500 points in 1 hour? the same people who earned 3400 in the previous 138 hours????

sorry but i can't believe it.


PS: in the last rivals event the rate pts/hour didn't change a lot in the last hour for the same tier. i understand the rodman-factor, but it's not enough to explain what i've seen.

Pretty sure he is just another dude who isn't on these forums. Cisco isn't either as far as I know although he entered in his stats on the user draft spreadsheet, maybe through Facebook group or he reads but doesn't post.

Haha yea i hear you bro. Im sure it was tough for everyone but I know that card was mine I was beating those same guys for the whole six days we were all going back and forth. At the end of the day I feel robbed, i'm still debating on playing but I'm just trying to figure out how to recover from this tragic event in my short life .



Thanks bro! Really appreciate that, maybe a miracle will happen? Lol. I just cant get over the fact that when I goto my card collection there isn't a rivals Jordan sitting pretty at the top. Thats what is haunting me the most and why its hard to continue. Lol

I have at least one friend who was in that grinding group that moved into the top 2000 in the last hour or so. So who knows. A lot of those people were probably previously in the top 2000 and though they were safe like you and then saw oh crap there's people moving time to grind. And clearly you cared about the epic pro. So I don't get where you mean nobody cares. Epic pro is probably the first spot most people are actually getting an upgrade.

I was out for a long weekend, not sure I can catch up on all the posts here, but it seems like there is talk of bots in the Rivals games. I can assure you there are ZERO bots in Rivals. There is no need for it. It's a community based game mode that allows everyone to compete against each other (regardless of deck strength too), so there is no need for bots. The conspiracy theorists will of course insist I am lying, something I have never done to you guys ever. There just is no need for bots, you guys create WAY more competition than we ever could with bots in the Rivals Event. For this event we simply had more people playing than ever before. A fraction of those people even know about these forums. Including avid players that ended up at the top of the leaderboard this week.


The only problem we're really seeing with the event were the network problems near the end. It was "fair" in that everyone was encountering the same problems at least, but completely agree that it was not a fun experience for those last few hours. We are increasing our server capacity for the next event which should alleviate the issues.


Ok lots to catch up on. I am hoping to post a bigger update later this week on our plans for our next Update and what we're doing for Seasons in the future. I'll be back.

I understand your frustrations.
I actually have 2 friends that I told them to purchase 10$ for hot streaks to make the cut. Told them it was more worth it to spend 10$ for a guaranteed Rodman epic pro than spend on a $20 epic pack that might give you a miserable epic.
But I get your point, not sure how many would do that.

I just want to say sorry guys if I started up something on the board. I just wanted to express how I felt about the situation and I know people who may have gotten the card or it didn't happen to might be like oh he's crying about it but just imagine u sitting there trying to tap your life away because you know you're minutes away from your first rival card and at that, its MJ! and then all of a sudden your game is just stopped and you can't do anything about it but sit there and hope you get your rank that you worked for, for 6 days. I can see if it was my fault and I didn't grind enough but it's different when there's an actual error with the game and I KNOW I had the spot! I mean if you could ask any of the guys who were in that tier with me they'd say I was def there with them the whole time and we all were walking away with MJ cards, all I needed was a couple more minutes to clinch the spot because each game I was going up like 4 ranks that's how close we all were. So one or two more games I would've for sure been like 115 at the finish line. Nonetheless sure it is what it is and hey I didn't get the card, I even messaged cat daddy letting them know that I'm not furious and I'm not even expecting a Jordan card but just to try their best to make sure it doesn't happen to anymore users in the future that faithfully play their game, work hard, dedicate tons of time and spend money on it.

Thanks to everyone whose had my back and supported this issue! I really appreciate that, I hope you guys enjoy your prizes that you all grinded for and deserved!(I'm def not mad at that!) I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys get for the next rivals. I'm sticking around on the boards, just probably won't be playing. Thanks again guys!

I can sympathize with you more than most here can bro. I was in top 50 for literally 99.9% of the event and ended up in 51st place mainly cause I couldn't log in more than 2 games that final 30 mins of play. I wasn't asleep at the wheel, was just staring at a screen with "waiting for network."

Lol so frustrating missing out on 2 Legendaries cause of that....but part of the roller coaster ride of the enjoyment in this game. Just hoping for better updates to the game, that'd be more than enough compensation for the frustrating end to Rivals 3

Hey man, that is a true bummer. You had to play a lot of games to get doubles of all those highly rated rare cards. But, don't give up. After you play this game for a couple months (and a couple of Rivals events later), you'll have upgraded your lineup so much that you'll be sporting Pro Epics and Rivals cards and these blue Rare cards will be nearly obsolete.

I know you'll never make this mistake again. Just think about the poor dudes that learned this from improperly combining epics or legendaries. (some poor guy from a couple pages back did this to his brand new Pro Rodman...ouch)

So while in theory people were level I'm not sure how much it was in reality. Some people seemed to be luckier on their connections to the servers than others.

One of my friends who was grinding away pretty hard said he didn't experience major issues until about 15 minutes before the end. Other people seemed to have more significant or prolonged issues. So while in theory people were level I'm not sure how much it was in reality. Some people seemed to be luckier on their connections to the servers than others.

Mine didnt completely crash until 7 minutes left so yeah, the effects of server were not universal. I wonder if it affected people on the reward lines more than others since we see Twista at #1 and people going for 25, 50, 125 cutoff having problems but me at 13 didnt really kick in until the end.
