So here's the disconnect:
You improve your deck. Sure. But everyone else improves their deck just as much, if not more. It's a rising tide. You didn't really get anywhere.
You say you don't really care, and you just wanna have better cards. Cool.. for most of us, that isn't the point. Better cards are there, to be able to continue to get us better cards. Your better cards aren't gonna do that. In order to have a deck that will work for you to get better cards, you're now gonna need the BEST cards (just like we always needed), and those best cards are still gonna be really hard or expensive to get. Creating a whole new tier, just rendered the work/spending that already went into this, obsolete.
But back to your motivation. I can't knock you for having whatever motivation you have. I personally, don't share it. The point of improving, is to have a better deck, relative to the other players. If it was just about having players I like, I'd just do a Google Image Search for them. I'd see their likeness on my tablet's screen, and that image search would be just as likely to help me win, as the Tim Duncan Rivals card, into which I was duped into throwing a week of my life.
