lol yeah I know. Just feels wrong seeing him as a Rare. It's kinda like how Kendrick Perkins is only a Rare when he should have an MVP card with Shaqtin' as the title.

To help understand why some of the cards fall where they are. The RttC selections follow a single team's progression through the Playoffs and their ultimate win of the Championship ring. In 2009, the teams face by the Lakers are the ones you face below the Kobe card. Since the Playoffs don't have enough series to cover all 9 cards, we go into the regular season of the top team (Lakers in this case) and look at their major divisional rivals.

In 2009, the Magic faced the Lakers in the Finals. So, the 2nd to last card is a Magic card. Looking at who was a Star level player in 2009, Rashard Lewis was definitely up there that year. He had a great regular season and post season.

Going down deeper into the cards, Monta is a Rare because that year he just wasn't that good. It was one of his early (or maybe his first) years in the league and just didn't hit his stride yet. That card needed to be Rare too based on the position in the RttC lineup.

That SR J-Rich looks nice. Always liked him as a player, mainly because of the dunk contests lol

              Rashard Lewis 2008-2009
              17.7 PPG, 5.7 REB, 2.6 Assists, 1 Steals, 0.6 Blocks

              Dwight Howard 2008-2009
20.6 PPG, 13.8 REB (Career High), 1.8 Assists, 0.9 Steals, 2.8 Blocks (Career High)

              Monta Ellis 2008-2009
              19 PPG, 4.3 REB, 3.7 Assists, 1.6 Steals, 0.3 Blocks

Contradictory much? Monta had similar if not better stats than Rashard that year....

He only played 25 games that season so a Rare is fine even with that Average. The guy above him is J-Rich who average 16 5 2 while playing 58 games. Then above J-Rich are players that played Kobe's Lakers in the Playoffs

Not to mention, he was probably their best player on that Warriors team, but that's none of my business haha.

Keep in mind, that Dubs team was trash haha.

Ewing was the last Star so they didn't want a Center again. They just went with the next best player and Rashard statistically had a better series than Hedo. He scored 0.6 points less but the rest of his stats were better overall.

Gamedad already explained the reasoning and people are still not pleased. Yeah Monta had great stats but Dubs weren't a Playoff team that year its ROAD to the Championship so its not based on stats its based on the ROAD the Lakers took that year plus like I said on my other post Monta only PLAYED 25 games that year, the only guy above his is J-Rich who average 16ppg 5rpg 2ast while playing 58 games then the guys above J-Rich are guys who played Kobe in the Playoffs

Difference is Monta has a Star card and the Magic made the Finals, while Warriors didn't even make the Playoffs. Its RttC for a reason.

If you noticed, the rewards in RttC are all from the Lakers' division first, then the teams they played in the Playoffs and then the Magic in the Finals, so stats really don't matter.

Ok but everybody is forgetting that DWIGHT averaged 15 and 15 in the finals... How do you not give him a star card... Smh

It could have been worded much better if that were the case..."he wasn't that good" vs. "The Warriors were not a good team during that year" are two different statements...that's all. Sorry if I'm nitpicking.

Maybe because he already has an RC card from that exact year, so CD went with the next best player.
