Could you really imagine someone at EA saying something like that? Saying "Hey we can take it easy guys, Pared is still doing the slider thing" lol
Name one sports game in the last 2 years that you have not touched one single slider.

I'm hoping that I don't have to adjust certain ratings down to a scale like last year defensively but if so I'm very confident that this will be a very good basketball game. The additions that EA made with the Superstar's and Playbooks being incorporated into the gameplay more is all I wanted last year.

Understand the sliders and what they effect and you can creat a monster game out of Live in the oppsite direction of the review. So, those those things I'm not worried about simply because there's a solution to the problems. I'm more worried about not having enough time to play all these games after spending the CASH.......
      awesome!

i used your sliders last year and will wait for you to release this year's sliders before i buy the game.

don't keep me waiting too long! lol...

        2K floating...
-players taking off for layups flat footed creates a floaty look, especially when they don't set their feet back on the ground before taking off.
-ball physics (sorry, they don't deserve to be called physics) are floaty and like a vacuum on the dribble moves, sucking from one position or one hand to another.
-the funny looking automatic between the legs dribble (done by every player from PG to C) looks like the players feet are not touching the ground
-the ball and players feet in certain moves don't look to be on the ground
-the whole look of the game in motion doesn't seem like Earth's gravity.
        -dunks... need I say more.

But hey, I am not saying Live is any better with it's sliding but both games have bad points.

While on the Live sliding thing, please give me at least two examples (naming animations/situations) where the sliding affects/is at it's worst. I hated it over the years but would like to know where other's do...

-edit...Geez, are you talking about SLIDING/SKATING? Or using sliders? LMAO!
I agree with those statements if your talking about 2k5. But for 2k6 i see a ton of improvement. The physics are the best i've yet seen, the dribbling between the legs is gone. The layups dont look floaty. And the dunks are much improved in my book.

The live sliding thing is really about the speed at which the players move side to side. Lateral movement should be a lot slower than forward movement, but in live it is not. Its probably faster to go side to side. And the sliding prevents stop on a dime movement which is essential for a true basketball simulation. I mean i dont doubt the sliders make the game a realistic experience, I just wouldn't be able to overlook the constant shot adjustments after contact and the sliding.

I have a question for you. Does the sliding throw off your defense when you are guarding the computer or human ballhandler??

As fun as live is.. It's far from a sim.. No player momentum when a player stops suddenly.. You can go just as fast running side ways, circling etc.. bumping players out of bounds.. The invisiable force field.. The ice skating. All this helps to ruin the game.. & there is no ice skating slider to fix this issue... Yes, 2k has problems too.. But the gameplay issues aren't game killers in my opnion.. & I know EA hasn't addressed the above problems I mentioned in 06..

I am bringing up 2K's floating simply because those mentioning the sliding are refusing to admit 2K in the last 1 or 2 versions and the 2K6 video's has started to have floaty animations. If you or anyone else doesn't see it, then fine, I am not worrying either way.
Are you sure you where not smoking anything that day? Because I have played close to 500 games in NBA 2K5 and did not see anything like that. I did noticed that players rated 99 in "jumps" or something tend to hang on the air longer whether or not they are dunking or doing a lay-up. But then, a rate of 99 in jumps is a Jordan rate in jump, and we all know he is called the royal airness.

The only thing close to floating in 2k5 is when going for a dunk the player tends to stay in the air a few seconds giving defenders ample time to swat the ball..

I think that ANYONE anti-slider is a doofus...just my opinion. Hell, if you even change the difficulty, you're simply adjusting global sliders. So anyone who feels the game should be played "out of the box" should be playing ONLY on the crappy default level right?

4 million+ gamers can't be expected to all play the same style and pace...so sliders allow one to fine tune their own experience. Errr...and thats a bad thing?

It's just insane that a person would not notice the general floatiness in 2k games. it in the hoops games and in their last baseball effort. It's in NFL 2k5 too, but the game is so excellent, you hardly hear about it.

Sliding side-to-side in Live is there as well. But using the sliders to slow down game speed helps with the sliding problem both in terms of gameplay and aesthetics.

But seriously I'm not even sweaten it simply because the things i wanted in Live last year have been added this year. I enjoyed the game last year after tweaking it and based on Admirals feedback in these thread and others I'm fully confident that i can get sliders to produce great results for this years game aswell.

The blocks are going to still be there regardless of sliders. That's why I had to create Sliders and then let guy's know about the global edits I made throughout the league on all players block ratings. The game became so much better once I put all players on scale from 0-50 with Ben Wallace being the highest last year.
