    This is what's crazy.

When players skate and it's not a hockey game, you'd think the problem would be addressed.
Really, you would think EA would fix this 5 years later...

A NON REALISTIC bball game... and it still gets a 9.0/10.0?

Using the Outside Stopper steal moves, I was able to force 20 steals on Superstar difficulty as Stephon Marbury during a game with five minute quarters -- so while the Superstar moves add the realism of individuality to the court, don't expect to play any realistic type of basketball game here.

Now we all know we're EA's motivations are at. Casual guys... nothing wrong with that. but i wont take a word of what they have to say as the "truth" because from my perspective it could be very very wrong

^^^^ just what I was thinking... after the first page and thinking about player evolution, I was thinking about not pre-ordering 2k6 and maybe renting both and/or buying Live...

Speaking of self alley-oops, if there's one drawback to the Superstar abilities, it's the fact that the superstar players dominate a little too much. Take for instance the NBA record for steals in a game. Kendall Gill (basketball player turned boxer) and Larry Kenon hold the record with 11. Using the Outside Stopper steal moves, I was able to force 20 steals on Superstar difficulty as Stephon Marbury during a game with five minute quarters -- so while the Superstar moves add the realism of individuality to the court, don't expect to play any realistic type of basketball game here. Sure, you can call plays and players act more realistically than in the past, but this is far from a basketball simulation. As a videogame, it's extremely fun and addicting, especially playing two-players, but if you're looking for a true sim, you're looking in the wrong place. There are way too many blocks, way too many steals to mirror anything close to a real game. There are also times at the end of contests where the computer will have a player like LeBron, but you wind up watching Eric Snow take all the shots. To its credit, the AI does call more plays against you, their clock management in terms of timeouts and intentional fouls at the end of games is great, and you can see players running around screens, even pushing off from defenders in hopes of getting the ball. But in the end, while the game is as close to a sim as the Live series has ever been, it's still far from the days of Inside Drive in terms of pacing and that true-to-life NBA feel.
That settles it, though I dont know that 2k is a sim game either. [rant] Also seems like a good amount of those things can be fixed with sliders, but as a 2k fan ive always been willing to mess with that game's sliders but confused by lives sliders. Just the fatigue starting off at zero has always turned me off from making my own sliders. [/end rant]

well, most of the complaints such as too many STEALS, BLOCKS, too many missed DUNKs, layups mmmmmmmmmmmight be fixed with sliders.. sadly, we're kind of left hanging because there was no mention of "tweaking" those sliders from Jon. So its either wait a week while everyone else plays, or buy.

What can;t be fixed with sliders is when a eric snow type player is taking all the big shots... thats not cool. thats like the only true negative in my book. the others , right now, are "possible fixes" and thus non worries

i don't want to say pay off but pay off. the game is really geared to much toward gimmicks and the still didn't fix core gameplay issues such as skating. And even ign see's the dunking and lay up problem. Sound's like a rental to me.

That news may not bode well for basketball sims.

If you check out gamespot's NBA 2K6 page, scroll down to "updates from the web" where they show scores that other web magazines and real magazines have announced their scores.

Only one mag has announced its score for NBA 2K6, and that's PSM. They gave it a 7.5 out of 10. That's pretty crazy- since PSM is USUALLY easily impressed by most sports games.

NBA 2K6 is a 3D simulation that lets you play as a professional basketball player both on and off the court. Build a player and take him through training camps, competitions and NBA games.

I'm getting the game tomorrow....so ill let you guys know if thats a problem after i change the sliders.

Also keep in mind that admiral and court vision (two of the hardest baskeball critics at OS) never mentioned this

If you read what psm actually said you will realize they weren't looking into getting into the evolution of basketball in 2k but the stylized superstars that live has. If they were real players they'd know a good game when the saw one. And it seems as if they had an older version anyway.

I can tell you right now that guy never even thought to touch the Sliders. EA always wants to showcase big plays in NBA Live at DEFAULT Level. I can't waite to get my hands on this game simply because I know how the sliders work in Live from Game speed all the way down to On Ball Physical Defense.

I'm hoping that I don't have to adjust certain ratings down to a scale like last year defensively but if so I'm very confident that this will be a very good basketball game. The additions that EA made with the Superstar's and Playbooks being incorporated into the gameplay more is all I wanted last year.

Understand the sliders and what they effect and you can creat a monster game out of Live in the oppsite direction of the review. So, those those things I'm not worried about simply because there's a solution to the problems. I'm more worried about not having enough time to play all these games after spending the CASH.......

I'm a NBA2k guy always, but I though to give LIVE a shot this year too, but not now, I know how that skating is and It drives me crazy , it's sad that EA can't fix such a simple problem like this, and I mean simple. Sliders will not fix the skating issue.
