    Re: IGN Reviews Live 360

Hard to tell...IGN basketball reviews have missed the mark so many times.

LIVE 03 was terrible...but they loved it.

Inside Drive 03 was great...and they hammered it.

I just wish an in depth review would concentrate on actual basketball issues. I want to know if play sets and rebounding work, if teams play like their real selves etc etc...

Ya IGN Loves EA . Now they never liked Inside Drive. I could care less about the All Star weekend crap. I already have the game so I'm gonna give it a fair shake..

They never talked much about the actually gamepley, just crying about the features being gone, terrible cameras(EA promised 20 cams for this game, and IGN said there were 4!! WTF??), and that the game has a slow pace.

Useless review IMO. I didn't tell me about the things I really need know like the actual gameplay. They only talked about Freestyle superstar being gone and that's why the gameplay suffered. No mention of fast breaks, offensive boards, defense, etc.

          9.0 Presentation
Playable loading screen is the highlight of the game. Unfortunately, the game eventually loads.
          8.5 Graphics
Amazing player models who drip sweat. It's the closest you can get to watching Jason Kidd take a shower.
          9.0 Sound
The crowd comes alive after big plays, and the team of Kerr and Marv call a nice game.
          6.0 Gameplay
Think Live 2005 with better player models. The loss of Superstar moves really takes the game back a notch.
          3.0 Lasting Appeal
No All-Star Weekend, no Dynasty mode, no Superstar moves, limited online play and gameplay far less appealing than its competitor, NBA 2K6. There's not much here to keep you coming back for more.

You can tell they based a lot of this review off the things that were missing. To me, these thing don't matter much if any at all. I'll hope Gamespot has a better review. If they hammer the game because it plays bad, fine, then I'll know not to pick it up, but inform the readers of the actual things that pertain to the game of BASKETBALL, not just saying it sucks cause ASW is gone or dynasty is gone.

IGN is just ******** in my opinion after reading that review. What the hell were they thinking. I understand that there are features missing, but it doesn't kill the game. If they talked about the gameplay than it's a different story.

I played the game today at EB in Cincy, OH everyone was in AWE!!! about the game. I played it twice today, I really don't know how they came to this conclusion. I am totally shocked with this review. As mentioned above, they must have rated it on the missing features. I thought the game to be at least an 8/10. Nothing flashy, but really solid, not real arcadish in my opinion, and once Playmaker gets his tweaks in there is no telling what this game can become. The graphics are real life scary, I been playing games since the first nintendo and I would have never thought we would ever get to where we are in the gaming industry. Just my 2 cents

I totally disagree with you on that. Look at the current gen review. IMO the 360 version looks and PROBABLY plays better than the current gen but it received a 9.0. He nevers talks about how the game plays...he just harps on the game about missing all-star weekend...that's it.

I have the game coming from Gamefly and I'll try it. IMO I think alot of people are whining about missing features that I never ever utilize such as the owner mode on Madden, dunk contest on Live, etc. Madden and Live BOTH LOOK NEXT GEN and that's all that I was expecting. I never thought once in my mind that many of the additions of the current gens would be in the initial batch of next gen games.

                    That's just how I feel...

I was over on the 2K6 forum and people were saying that Live will get a higher score even though in the review it says "it's still the best basketball on the 360." But I'll download the free demo when I get my 360 and see for myself.

Live looks a lot better than Madden to me. And yeah, Jon Robinson's review for IGN sucked. He didn't seem like he knew that much about what he was talking about and was harping on only the features.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

Wow, I didn't expect that...well actually I did due to the lack of features, but honestly the only one that will be missed is Dynasty. And even that...well let's jsut say I miss the simpler days, I don't want to set concession prices and micromanage my franchise, I prefer Dynasty mode like in MVP where you're given a set budget, and you make your teams personnel decisions. That being said, I think I'll pass on Live 360, need multiple seasons...and no budget in season mode is totally inexcuseable.
