And if you have the money that EA has, its no big deal to buy the rights and then not utilize it fully.

I understood that they bout it from ESPN and not 2k sports... its exactly what you are saying about attacking 2k sports without doing anything or raising the bar for themselves. this is getting really sad on EA's side.

I agree. These graphics look underwhelming.

        Re: IGN's New Interview

Player movement is the foundation that will drive Gameplay. In the past, the 'arcadey' feel was often a result of the 'water bug' style of player movement where there was no penalty for moving in any direction at any time which created unrealistic moments. For example, if you pass the ball into the post and the defense comes to double and you then kick the ball out to the perimeter, the defense could easily recover back to the perimeter shooter unfairly and ruin a perfectly good basketball play. Our new movement system will now reward a good play like this because the defender will move like an actual human in this situation and adhere to the laws of momentum. These types of interactions also open up the mid-range game so the "arcadey" days of overusing dunks and 3-point shots are behind us.
I will believe this when I see it. Also I hope some of the new ratings they added are tendencies.

Why are the skin tones completely different from the VC pics? I want to think that these pics are from an earlier build, lol. The player momentum sounds fantastic though, if it actually works.

Yea everything Ive seen EA do with ESPN has sucked. Sh1t was a waste of time and money. All the things Ive seen EA do with ESPN has nothing to do with the actual in game presentation like it should. If not in game, @ least give us a pre-game or post-game show.

Its starting to look like I'm the only one still excited about this game. There were a ton of small things I read about in this interview that im excited about. The new commentary, momentum, the fact that Marv Albert will call out created player's names this year, the new ratings.

No way brother... I'm absolutely stoked for this title. The player rotations, the momentum, the commentary... everything. This is probably my most anticipated title so far right now. I can't wait to see how they deliver. I can't wait to see the new camera angles. Hopefully the graphics will rival the first VC pic that was released though, instead of these that look washed out.

I am excited as well. I think this game will be really good. I can't wait to try both titles this year. Ya some of the player model features suck, but if the gameplay is good that stuff doesn't matter to me.

graphically, i thought the game looked good last year and i think it can only get better in 2007. Seeing that they've discussed the inclusion of franchise mode, my biggest wish/hope for 2007 is that they improve the player movement and the camera angles, if those 2 things are fixed, this will be a great game.

The game definatly sounds interesting and has sparked my interest, but I've learned to approach Live with caution.

I am too. Especially saying the players can't all do the same thing, and when you go on a run, your star player begins to do things noone else in the game can do.I think this game will be solid. If they've eliminated the sliding, worked on the rebounding, and it really does open up the midrange game like they say.

What people dont give EA credit for is, basketball wise, they do alot of things right. Around the basket animations, not the best but the best out there collision detection, fastbreaks feel like you really have control of them, etc..

If its all they say, I can see this game holding alot of my time as well.

This game sounds good and I bet I will end up buying 2 NBA games this year but I don't understand the point of Freestyle Superstar. Lebron James doesn't randomally choose to be a playmaker or high flyer when he plays.

No but he can be both. I'd say the more options the better. Thats the thing about basketball. There are so many things that can happen, in games, the more cusomization and options the better.

                                Re: IGN's New Interview

I'll have to read over it again, but it talked about you being in some kind of zone. They have a name for it.

They said he'd be like that until the other team started playing well again (of course that could happen pretty fast).

Schirner: It's all about getting 'In the Zone' with momentum this year. We're keeping an internal momentum meter running that tracks things like scoring runs, turnovers and successful superstar moves and it will eventually trigger the 'In the Zone' feature (shown in the new Player HUD) when a team has enough momentum. We want to reward those teams that get full momentum and allow the team's Superstars to shine and put on a show for the crowd. So, Level 3 Superstars will be able to pull off some special moves while they're 'In the Zone'. Imagine being T-Mac on a fastbreak while you're In the Zone and pulling off the Dee Brown-esque eyes-covered dunk and have the crowd go crazy and the bench jump to their feet. Or, being AI slicing through traffic and doing the MJ-esque hand-switch lay-up from the Bulls vs. Lakers finals. Having momentum means you have the opportunity to have the Superstars shine and give the fans a show. And obviously, if the other team starts playing well and you start missing some shots you will lose the 'In the Zone' ability.
