That's what I figured was happening in the video, the guy playing defense applied way to much pressure at times. Same thing happens in 2K8 when you apply pressure on the ballhandler and end up getting beat.

One question though will the CPU always use the PG to initiate the offense or will they use other positions too?

Glad to see that cleared up.

As far as the 1 on 1 defense goes, if I choose to man-up tight on an offensive player and "guess right" what happens? Will he continue to try and beat me off the dribble? Will he turn the ball over?

And can terrible defenders still be beat even if they play good tight man D?

They pass the ball. Try locking a pg up and then pressing "b" to call for a double-team. Good way to force a bad pg into a turnover.

ABSOLUTELY! That's the risk you take by playing "tight D"

Pressure or no pressure. It should not be so easy for us to take them out of their offense by just pressuring him. At some point he has got to get the offense going or they will loose.

Its a slippery slope though cause you want him to react to you. but you want him to have enough intelligence to know Okay its time to get back to what we want to do.

Its just like when your playing full court d and get beat. The man who beats you doesn't always try to score because he has an offense to run. Hopefully they find a good balance.

I am very interested to know where the line is between the dna data that dictates their actions and their ratings...

Hey stephensonmc...I was wondering when is the demo coming out? What teams can we play as in the demo? Is the demo going to let us do some drills in the practice gym? Is Tony Parker the only we can use in the practice gym? How many mins and quarters will be allowed to play?

I actually meant to say if the terrible defender is in tight man D and he correctly predicts which way the offensive guy is going can he still be beat?

I think I saw something like this in the vid when Sczerbiak was D'ing up on Wade but I want to be sure that that was the quick-strike defense system in play there.

i noticed two great improvements for this year's game:
                          1. the dunks and layups are WAAAAAAAAYYYYY better than last years version
                          2. they added 24 FIBA teams so i can sim the Beijing Olympics

the game's lookin good, i was contemplating to get last years game but i went with 2k8. this may be the year i that i buy both games
                          * p.s.: did yall see kobe's j? it looks PERFECT!!!!

I agree, KDRE_OS. I think that the presentation is better, the gameplay seems to be smoother and looks more fun, especially liking how Signature Play Calling is working. And even the graphics look a bit more polished.

I am definitely getting the game this year. Man, I can't wait to play.

                              I like it

I had both games last year and was one of the very few on here bold enough to post that i had it and liked it . 2K8 was sublime though, a work of art but Live 08 was fun in its own way. I have a post on here somewhere last year saying that the 08 effort appeared to me, that they were poised for 09 to be something special (read: at least compete with 2k in game play and animations as it already surpasses it in graphics).

Looks like it's made a lot of progress. I love the consistency between all their sports titles with regard to menus and features and scope of the quality that they go for. owning Ea sports games now feels like you have some solid products.

I pitched the Drive cam to the prez guys as the default camera for OTP. I'll bring it up again for Live '10 and see if we can make it one of the camera options.
