Can you answer me a question regarding collisions Beluba

In Live 08 you would go up for a dunk or whatever and the defender or guy standing there would be mauled out of the way instead of the impact affecting both players in a sense, has this been changed or modified in any way. I didnt like that too much.

I saw it again in one of the vids where Lamar Odom was practically knocked silly out of bounds on someone's dunk backpeddling into the backboard stand.

We spent a lot of time cleaning up layup collisions. My main beef was that defenders got "sucked" into the air and cheated the shooter out of a clean dunk or layup way too often. Or on the flip side of that, got knocked out of the way like bowling pins as you're describing.

This year you'll see much more believable interaction when guys attack the rim... basically more neutral outcomes and contested shots where there's not a clear cut winner. It's definitely more realistic and makes for some great highlight moments. Guys can still get bounced when they run in front of a dunker, but it happens much less frequently. Also, we drastically reduced the frequency of offensive foul calls in these situations, which helped improve game flow.

I can live with that. Im sure it wasn't easy finding a balance, but left to the way it was its kinda hard to get excited on dunks and things when I see something like that happens, it feels cheap, and im not one to bemoan getting an easy bucket.

Thanks for answering, I appreciate it... along with hoping the players falling to the floor on shots and layups dont happen too often in an over the top manner.

          thanks so much

if it's doable in the engine, it is such a huge variable for a lot of us out there who loved it ever since ID. I actually have loved the concept ever since NCAA Basketball with Mode 7 graphics on SNES. It really is organic and shows off those pretty visuals like no other camera. BB is a perfect platform for that camera, although I heard a Live 09 SP mention how he likes cameras that are farther away. Options are nice. ... here's hoping it makes it for '10.

          thanks again for responding.

one thing that I want added into any basketball game is that when Dunks like these happen I want the same type of emphasis put on them. I want the announcers to get excited I want the players on the floor to react to it not just the ones on the bench and I want it replayed if there is a timeout called. Plays like the ones you showed are what makes basketball so exciting. I know 2k did this to some extent but I would like to have it in live as well.

True multi-player dunk collision scenarios didn't make it into this year's game but you will see guys getting banged on from time to time. So my answer is, yes, you will be able to re-create some of these moments in Live '09 but we do have plans to further enhance our collisions sytems going forward to get even more incredible dunk on situations.

In that video you see the manual defender move off of the PG Gibson who's a known 3 pt. shooter. He'll take that shot everytime in the real NBA if he's left open like that.

2.) We have different ways to play 1 on 1 defense this year. You can choose to engage the offensive player, or play off of him. If you engage and get into a jostle and the cpu wins that jostle and blows by you, he'll drive to the lane. He's just beaten you. The offensive gameplan is triggered if you're playing solid defense and don't make a mistake the minute the PG brings the ball up the court.
                      Maybe it's just me but-
                      1. Gibson is a spot up shooter- catch and shoot. He rarely creates his own shot. What's in the video totally goes against the whole "DNA" logic.

                      2. Can any of you guys release a CPU vs CPU video to prove this point? I fail to believe that one slip on your controller on defense causes the PG to go Michael Jordan on you. Sounds like a programming issue to me.

The true logic AND DNA should force the PG to run the offense first, unless it's say a Steve Nash.

What happened to the old Primacy ratings? Why is LeBron just a bystander in the Cavs offense? We've seen the same exact thing with Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant.

I did not like what was shown with the PG shooting everytime. That video made gibson look like isiah thomas. I hope for a cpu vs cpu video as well or someone playing the game that shows the teams running the offense.

I really like the pick and roll and the nba 365. But Im not a fan of the simplified plays and the animations in general. Some are very nice but there are a lot that seem to just look a little weird. Its WAY better then last year but the dribbling animations and the net animations and some of the dunks and layups are not to the comps level yet. But Live has its strengths as well but I think you guys havent caught up yet.

They say that player dna will play a big role in the CPU's tendencies. But from that look, thats a total croc. Lebron touched the ball maybe 3-4 times in 6 minutes or so of gameplay. Boobie Gibson took like 4 shots on 5 possesions. Lebron didn't even attempt a shot. Who are they trying to fool.

looks cool, I'll wait on the purchase and see if 2k offer trophies and if it does I will go that route.

you can already do the pick and roll stuff in 2k with the lead passing feature.

Yall really trippin on the super pg stuff. I saw realistic ball being played. Back off...J.....Tight D out to far...take to hoop. Fundamentals. Two, its obvious he wanted the pg to shoot early so he could get the ball back to show off pick and roll playcalling.
