Re: NBA Live 2010 GamePlay Wishlist...

Can you guys please get rid of the pressing the button mulitple times quick inbound pass. It doesn't matter if I press the button more that once after it goes thru the hoop. When my player takes it out, I only want him to inbound the ball when I hit the button at that time. Not because I pressed the button 2 seconds ago. That causes a ton a turnovers online because the opposition knows where the guard will be and just stands in front of him and the inbounder everytime. And if I do happen to get as close to the inbounder as I can to get the ball so they wont still it. No way should they be able to hit the steal button and the ball magically pops into there hands for a steal. Something really has to be done for these guys that consisently full court press all game long.

Fatigue Fatigue, Fatigue. Think NBA JAM turbo button, once I run around full speed constantly all the time, I slow down, my speed gets slower. This will eliminate alot of stuff that goes on with this cheese stuff. Not that im saying implement the little turbo thing at the bottom of the player cause I'm not. I'm just saying fatigue (getting TIRED) not subbing needs to be a FACTOR.

Come on guys, this is "NEXT GEN" I expect alot more.

Clean up the baseline area. Too easy for dudes to just take ANY towards the baseline and just hit the square button. Either a foul or 2pts 97.9% of the time. The baseline is the most difficult area to score in. In organize ball your taught to force the guy with the ball to the baseline because the out of bounds line is another defender. Clean it up.

Re: NBA Live 2010 GamePlay Wishlist...

I'm posting my wishlist here again.

          HoosierDaddy's NBA LIVE 2010 Wishlist

          - Ball physics: They need to be more realistic. The ball hitting the rim, the players dribbling on free throws, the interaction between the ball and the hand/court isn't fluid. Even the loading screen icon of the ball, should rotate realistically, not the choppy rotation that's there currently.

          - Close basket shooting should be improved. Appropriate shots in proximity to the rim. Up & under move is a classic example.

          - Blocks in general need fixed. There's a select few that look good, it's nearly impossible to recover after you're beat on a play and pull off a block from behind, especially with a good shot blocker. Too many occasions where you jump to block the shot and the defender is nowhere near the jump shooter... if the defender has to sprint to contest the shot, give us that animation!

          - Putback/Tip-in dunks is a necessity. Would revolutionize the offensive rebounding game, pretty much non-existant.

          - Rebounding moves. Sink, swim, Spin, block-out, tap ball (Dennis Rodman-esque), all with the right analog. Up,Down,Left,Right) After the rebound, ability to control where the ball is being held. Above head (Up), swinging elbows (left - right in succession), cover ball (down)

          - Diving for the ball must be included. Too many times I see numerous players standing around watching the ball go out of bounds. Double-tap of the Steal button and you attempt to save the ball.

          - Ability to alter shot in mid-air close to the basket and avoid block. (Similar to 2k's "shot modifier) Pressing of trigger button or double-tap of shoot button. Will add a new dimension to layups/dunks. Protect the ball from a block by switching hands, up-and-under the other side of the rim/basket, double pump, etc...

          - Definitely need on-the-fly substitutions, strategy, etc...You're still unable to sub while opponent is shooting a free throw. Has anyone else noticed during different times of the game how the menu changes? For example, sometimes it's fastbreak/crash boards other times it's double teams, etc.. We should have the ability to alter ALL options ALL the time.

          - Fix the jumpshots so we feel that flick/snap to release the shot. Holding the shoot button too long should result in a travel, not just a missed shot.

          - Pre/Half/Post game interviews or overlays with player of the game, key stats, key matchup, etc... Get rid of the practice gym when game is loading. Would much rather see key stats/players matchups.

          - Air ball glitch, where the defender grabs the ball out of the air next to the basket, should be a goaltend. Last year it was always a goaltend, this year I've yet to see one called. Find a happy medium.

          - Expand on the triple threat moves. Users should be rewarded by utilizing these and blowing past a defender to the basket. Rarely happens, usually results in defender bumping the offensive player.

          - Realistic dunks have been fixed from '08 to '09; but I still see too many unrealistic dunks with bigger players. Chris Mihm with tomahawk one handers underneath the basket, etc... Utilize the strengths of big men, flashy dunkers, and adapt their dunks accordingly. (Flashy dunks, power dunks, etc...)

          - Some layup animations have a floaty aspect to them. I can see why you'd want to use these when a big defender is near the basket; but many times big men are tossing up high arching layups next to the basket and the angles of the ball going off the backboard on layups are awkward.

          - Dunks/Layups with the off-hand/non-dominant hand. This still happens too much. There's a select few players who have the ability to do so. (Carter, Iverson, Kobe, Lebron, etc..) Big men rarely use their off-hand (Boozer, Kaman, Gasol, etc..) Again, this is where shot modifer could come in handy. Specific players should have the ability to change hands, others have to double-pump, force an awkward shot. The non-dominant hand dunks just need to be removed altogether for 90% of the players.

          - Minor button delay. Block and Steal buttons occasionally. Especially when you're trying to steal a ball in the passing lane. The defender sticks his arm out after the ball has already made it to the recipient. Need more passing lane steals with animations. A few of the existing animations stop after you make the steal when they should be in stride going for the fast break.

          - If any of you have ever played Smackdown vs Raw, and you can argue with the ref, by hitting triangle, on a pinfall count..what about adding some type of arguing a call for certain foul situations, etc... Arguing, waving emphatically that you don't agree with the call, etc.. It'd obviously be a cut-scene animation; but I think it'd add to the realism. Each of the face buttons can determine the severity of the mannerism. Disagree, argue, walk away - stuff like that...Rasheed Wallace, for example, is more prone to getting a quick T as opposed to someone like Chris Paul.

          - Bring back NBA Superstar Moves (Playmaker, Highflyer, etc..) I loved how these looked for the most part. Especially with high flyers and big men like Tyrus Thomas, Stromile Swift, etc.. Made the game feel much more realistic, and left a presence for a dominant big man who could jump. It had too much of an arcadey feel, however. If you could implement some of these features and scale back the arcade feel and not make them so unstoppable it'd be great. It's very rewarding to be able to stop some of these casual layups and dunk attempts with a known shot-blocker.

          - Basic fluidity and realistic movement of players. The players still have a "gumby" feel to them. The jumpshots are too fast, the steals animations are too slow, etc.. These have been drastically improved from 08 to 09, so I expect even better for 2010.

          - Ability to alter signature shots, signature dribbles, free throw routines, etc.. ALL of this should be editable by us.

            Hey HoosierDaddy,

Could you clarify this a bit for us? What do you mean? Are you saying that when a shot is put up, it doesn't rotate at all in the air? Or if it comes off of the rim, it doesn't rotate, but just stays still?

I actually have video to show you. Upon further inspection - it's actually the interaction of the ball and the hand/rim or the ball hitting the court. that throws off the whole animation.

              <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DdtytQnlhf4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DdtytQnlhf4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

As you can see there it's Luke Ridnour and he takes about 7 steps without the ball touching the court. This happens almost every time down the court.

              <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u-gVLP30tGg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u-gVLP30tGg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

This video is of Devin Harris, it's basically the same thing, watch the dribbling animation. I hope this helps...I'd be more than willing to provide videos for any of the other things I posted. Thanks!

                Thanks for this Hoosier.

We'd like to know specifically about your complaints on "rotation" of the ball. I have one of our software engineers reading this as we speak too.

                Thanks buddy.

The rotation of the ball isn't the issue, after I looked closer into the detail. It's the way the ball leaves the hand of the player on most occasions. That and the way the ball comes off the rim and "sucks" into the rebounders hands.

I think I've said it before, but I would like the ability to choose when I want to dunk or layup. Maybe you could implement something like what 2k has, where dunks will only be attempted if the turbo/sprint button is held.

You should definetly work on the ball physics and animations when it comes to rebounding. In 2k9 the interaction between the ball and the hands are spot on and in live the ball just sucks into the hands.

Please fix the shooting animations. Players should shoot at the top of their release. The players barely jump of the ground.
More animations with user control in mind ala 2k but more user input not the cpu.

Neutral court crowd reactions would be nice.

It's kinda weird to have the USA team boo'd when they are the away team in FIBA mode considering there should be no homecourt advantage.

This would also apply to the all-star game.
