Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN

I'm pretty sure some type of warning will come up for those users that already have the DNA license that prevents them from re buying it. If it doesn't then what EA is doing will be totally wrong imo.

Though I have a feeling a person who rented or bought the game used wouldn't buy this thing just because they saw it for download. I'm sure they would hold off on buying it because it would be a waste of 20$ if they just returned the game the very next day.

Honestly I feel that anyone that just buys this thing just because they saw it online is just wasting their own money anyway. I think it will be more justified if they buy it and know what they are going to get with it, rather then just doing it off impulse.

Now this doesn't mean I think what EA is doing is right because that 20$ price tag is way to expensive. 5-10$ seems like a more fair price but hey theres nothing I can do about that.

You ONLY pay the $20 fee IF you purchase Live 09 where the code was already activated. I'm sure there will be some used copies floating around where the code won't be used/activated.

Its called sarcasm!! I think this is ******** either way and it no way effects my decision to buy or not buy live as I am a 2k kinda guy.

While I do think $20 is extreme. $10 would have been sufficient.

But a bunch of you are overreacting, since I'm in corporate business. I'll just lay it down in business English.

EA makes their numbers and money off of retail copies sold new!!!

When lamestop and other companies sell used copies 100% of the profits goes to lamestop and EA doesn't make a dime.

Regardless on how much money as a whole EA has, you can't blame the NBA team for wanting to get something out of providing us with the Synergy technology stuff.

When you buy used your paying 5 dollars less than a new copyl! Which is a rip off and stupid! Why not just spend the extra five and get it new!!! Problem solved 365 is free.

When you buy it off a buddy, its way cheaper than $60, so spend the $20 on 365! Dumb move again. Why not just get it retail EA gets paid. And argument over.

Fact is if other companies, Ebay, lamestop, blockbuster etc Are going to profit from paying some young sap $15 to $25 bucks for their game. And they resale it for $55 Who's really ripping you off.

EA will still be providing their service, they are just trying to profit off the biggest piece of the pie. It's business and they still have to make money.

Don't be jumping down Steph or Beluba or whoever else works for EA for trying to pay off Synergy and T-mobile etc for all the fees they are getting for marketing and usage of name, etc.

That's business and everyone has to make bread to keep the business moving forward.
T-Mobile paid EA to promote the feature. They are already making money off of the feature because of the Tmobile sponsorship.

This is just a money grab by EA and its pathetic. They are trying to single handedly neuter the used game market for this game. Who is going to pay 45 or 50 bucks for a used copy of Live when they have to pay an extra 20 in order to use all the features. What this guarantees is that if you buy Live, you wont be able to sell the game for more than 40 bucks no matter where you go.

Steph, Beluba or Peter Moore cant tell me that this service cost 20 bucks per person. Its BS that they are using this as a way to charge more money for a game.

Seems like EA's figured a way to attempt to cut out places like Gamestop. But also regular gamers that want to sell or even give their copy of the game away for free (if they chose to) - it sort of forces you to buy the game new, if the feature is that important. And regardless how it's put, EA has a history of trying to nickel and dime consumers - one that they smartly got away from, but guess the mindset is ever present with them. It all just seems really petty and unnecessary, much like the pay for alternate uniforms issue was with Madden a few years ago

I swear some kats on here hate EA so much, they can do nothing right! Even when they are trying to make money.

                    It's business enough said.

If this was the competition, you guys wouldn't be so hard on them and start a thread like this. Ya'll would give them a pass and be like, they need the money. We should support them to keep them in business, etc.

But honestly, its not what EA is doing. It is your personal hatred for them in the first place. And people seek things like this to hound them about.

Live 09 is looking decent, 2k is looking decent, even NBA 09 is looking to be a fun game.

We have three games this season to enjoy for all their individual reasons. Let's end all the bias crap and finally support each company if we can. If not, support the one you always have.

BB season looks a lot better this year. A 3 way competition.

Videos coming soon of all 3. Peace.

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN

Well, I had planned on renting Live, but not sure now. May rent to see if I like the gameplay I guess. So since I have to buy a new copy if I want Live 365 updates, can someone explain exactly what modes this can be used in? I have read it can only be used in exhibition and online games, but not dynasty or season modes. What modes can it be used in? If it's only online and exhibition games then I will probably still just rent.

That brings up another question. If it works in online games; what would happen if I played against someone that rented the game and didn't pay for live 365 while I bought the game new?

Renting brings up another point also... rent the game=$10 if you like it and wanna buy it=$60 and then you have to buy the live 365 feature=$20. thats $90 dollars right there. Taxes for all that will add up to about $95

I would hope someone that rented it and wanted to keep it would just take the rental back and then buy a new copy, therefore wouldn't have to buy the 20 dollar live 365 updates.

Please don't tell me you're an accountant?

                            Renting a game = around $5.00

If you like it....you can buy it NEW for around $60.00

                            365 feature = FREE

                            Total = $65.00

Where did you get $95.00 from?

Geez it has nothing to do with "hatred". And the competition you're talking about isn't doing anything like this, nor have they done anything like this to date so there's no need to try to paint EA as being picked on. I was just saying it seems like a pretty petty thing for them to do, especially given the fact that this is the first time their next gen game looks somewhat playable out of the box. I was just speaking to people that legitimately want to sell or buy their game at a reasonable cost, or even give the game away to a family member or friend

i love to read all the complaints. Both companies will have their fanboys. I will buy my copy of NBA Live 09 on tuesday and be happy with my free code for NBA Live 365. Its free if you purchase the game new. Thats all that matters to me! I personally kind of like the fact that this screws with Gamestop and their way overpriced used copies of games. Oh well....keep up the complaining. Its fun to read.
