Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
I can't help but agree whole heartedly you guys are overreacting big time. The 365 feature - while a huge selling point - won't prevent you from enjoying the game if you play a used or rented copy. The basic gameplay itself will not change. The only thing that changes is the daily updated rosters. That's it. If you rent the game - are you telling me you can't enjoy it because players X's tendencies from last night game hasn't been uploaded?
It's really not that big a deal people. If the gameplay is great or it sucks - the 365 feature won't make the make a bit of difference to that fact. It's simply not an essential feature - at all - for enjoyment of the game. Besides - y'all know somebody will simply download rosters every so often in the Rosters Forum for people without updates to take advantage of. Don't sweat the small stuff guys.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
Yeah, I thought about getting it used, but not if I can't access all of the features. But what do you expect? This is from the company that made Xbox 360 users for Madden NFL 07 pay for alternate jerseys AND makes you buy an extra game to get Create-A-Play in Madden NFL 08 or 09 (the other game being Head Coach).
I appreciate the designer coming on the boards to clear this up, but at the same time, I am convinced very little. So T-Mobile sponsors the feature, but then it is decided that they can only cover the costs of people who buy it new? Is this to increase the total of new copies sold, deterring people who see a $40 "used" tag? If they still need to spend $20 on the feature, then it's basically if you'd rather have a new game or a used one.
So a "possibly-rent" has become a "cannot-afford-to-possibly-play" for me. I'm just glad I don't also have to pay to use the servers.
Edit: Glenn33, I understand your point exactly. We may overreact, but then again, people were intrigued by this. If you're trying to sell NBA Live, pushing its gameplay is probably not the way to do it. You need features, but more than that, they make you pay for the features they promote? Gaming is pricy enough.Last edited by Shinyhubcaps; 10-02-2008, 11:37 PM.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
Listen you ****in idiot! It is absolutely free! Unless you rent, or borrow, or buy a used copy! I don't see what everyone is so upset about? Why the hell would you buy this game used? It will already be 3 months into the season when the price goes down. And if you know you are gonna get knocked $20 bucks if you buy it used, why wouldn you buy it new? Absolute morons!
I get all of my games for half price same day used or not but they don't come with the extra stuff so that's why I'm mad and forget Live 09 I was going to buy it but not nowComment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
Is there going to be a restriction on SHARING roster files? Say someone uploads the latest DNA file....can't you just download the file and transfer it to your 360 or PS3?
This might be a way around paying $20 for those who purchase the game USED.
Just a thought.Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
They aren't charging for anything extra but Epic is including a code in new versions of Gears 2 that gives people extra maps and those maps won't be put up for sale. So you basically have to buy the game new or you won't be able to play on 5 maps.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
left4dead, it'll be interesting to see how this handled. I do know we can cycle through past dates on the team select screen, which leaves me thinking that we wont have seperate 365 game saves on our harddrives or any other visual place. it would be hellish to cycle through the dates and wait as the game loads the file, so im thinking its not done the traditional way.
then again, when changes are made by us with created players or rotations, that DOES have to be saved into a visible location which seems like it can very well be shared. It would be terrible if we couldnt share some rosters because of the "paid" content. someone would have to start one and keep it up to date for the rental people im guessingComment

I never was attacking 2K so get your facts straight buddy...I was simply asking a question...Then you come and make assumptions and try to make it seem like I was attacking them...Please if you know the answer than post it, if you don't know the answer, don't post and save the both of us time...And I'll post my question again...Do you have to have a Gold Membership to get the 2K insider...Comment

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
I swear some kats on here hate EA so much, they can do nothing right! Even when they are trying to make money.
It's business enough said.
If this was the competition, you guys wouldn't be so hard on them and start a thread like this. Ya'll would give them a pass and be like, they need the money. We should support them to keep them in business, etc.
But honestly, its not what EA is doing. It is your personal hatred for them in the first place. And people seek things like this to hound them about.
Live 09 is looking decent, 2k is looking decent, even NBA 09 is looking to be a fun game.
We have three games this season to enjoy for all their individual reasons. Let's end all the bias crap and finally support each company if we can. If not, support the one you always have.
BB season looks a lot better this year. A 3 way competition.
Videos coming soon of all 3. Peace.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

Re: DNA is $19.99 on PSN
the saddest thing about all of this is, unlike the 5 "free" bonus maps for gears 2, i doubt they advertised that to the mass consumers. Here you can go to the nbalive website and see "made fresh daily" banners and graphics. heck, theres a commerical i remember seeing mention that. now out of nowhere or in little writing someplace, itll cost $20 bucks to nonbuyers? its just really not an act that should be defended in any regard.Comment
