Re: Season play is basically useless...
I don't think the game sucks. One aspect is broken, and really should be fixed in this version.Comment

Re: Season play is basically useless...
Fully agree with everything you stated. I for one, am greatly disappointed in both game developers (EA and 2K) in that they created all this hype surrounding "DNA" and "Living Rosters", leading gamers (speaking for myself here) to believe these regularly updated rosters/statistics would be incorporated into an active dynasty/season.My favorite part of sports gaming (baseball, football, basketball, hockey, etc…) is playing the dynasty/season mode as I could care less about playing a "pick-up game". I hope that next year's Live installment will come through with the capability I was expecting this year.
BTW, I am currently playing 2K9 (PS3) but was thinking about picking up Live as well (not so sure now though?). Gladly welcome recommendations (pros & cons). Thanks
In order to have "Living Rosters" and the "Live 365" rosters they'd would have to have a Season mode that only allows you to play the games that your team has up played in real life to date. This way there's no trades that the CPU would initiate and injuries only happen like they would in real life. Thus you'd be stuck playing a Season Mode in real time with what's going on in the NBA. That could be cool though, but it's the only way to bring in Current Rosters to a season mode.
Again, there's no way to bring in these kind of roster changes to a franchise mode since that mode is totally own it's own completely outside of what's going on in the real world.Last edited by DXZeke; 12-07-2008, 01:45 AM.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: Season play is basically useless...
"but basic functions that have worked in previous versions of a game should work"
Totally agree here, Mate - This issue affects one of the fundamental aspects of a Dynasty Mode. Never mind, at least we can rest assured that the 'casualties' are sporting the correct Headbands & Sneakers as they sit on the IR for months on end.
A truly disappointing side of an otherwise cracking game.Comment

Re: Season play is basically useless...
The holy grail for me would be to forget NBA players, forget trying to make sure headbands and hair styles were correct, in favor of gameplay that played more like real professional basketball.
Forget player DNA to update guys to their current status in the NBA. Give me player DNA so realistic players could be designed, so I could design someone who really played like a superstar, or a star, or a journeyman, or a stiff.Comment

We know gameplay is a priority and we have alot of resources working on gameplay. Other areas in the game need to be built as well, so we put resources towards that.
We have a majority working on gameplay (which Beluba can talk about), but that doesn't mean we aren't doing other things because we have people who aren't gameplay designers to do that stuff.
Making sure headbands and hairstyles are correct is not hindering the execution on gameplay improvement. Two completely different things, people, ideas and work.
If there's one thing that all of you learn with us being here, I'd love it to be that you know there are different sides and parts to making a game complete for ship and that it's a long, hard process. We know gameplay is the priority. I get that until it's up to the standards that all of you want, this will keep coming up, but know that we get it.Follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/stephensonmc

Re: Season play is basically useless...
I just love how Madden and Live come out and after about a month or so a "bug" is discovered by the public that affects the game in a huge way.
Yet the response is the same from the developers
"Sorry...cant fix it, buy next years game and we promise it will be fixed in that one."
That is utter BS!!!!!
What about the testing process???? Didnt the game get quality tested?????
It is sooo irritating to hear this every year from EA....
$60.00 for a game that is NOT finished!!!!
Total BS....
If you buy a TV or a car or a DVD player and something about it doesn't work, you return it for a refund...PERIOD!!!
EA...I want my money back...PM me please!!Comment

Re: Season play is basically useless...
StephonsonMC, can you comment on the testing process for these games? I'm not here to cuss at your or scream, but I am (and many other poeple are too) very curious about the Testing that goes on.
When the patch gets done and NOW Free Throws are virtually unmissable, and there's still no AI Fastbreaking to speak of, it really makes you scratch your head. Are you telling me Playtesters didn't even notice these things?
Is it NOT an easy thing to fix these things? (That's a serious question, I am NOT a programmer so I admit to total ignorance about this stuff) I mean, isn't it just a matter of adjusting some numbers or something?
Thanks.
This is a common thing that people think with game development that isn't true.

while i dont disagree to a point, this isnt the same team working on 2010 and truthfully when they asked for input on what we'd like to see fixed in the patch
Noone said anything about the fastbreaks. You can find more harping about the blocking than fastbreaks. Use Tomba's advice and edit the fastbreak awareness to 60 (which seems to be higher for some PF's than guards) and the hustle rating to 80. He seems to find a happy medium there, i havent tested it yet but he says it works.... give it a shot.Comment
