I agree, lets see how it works first before griping about it. It could be a good thing. Im thinking maybe we'll be able to use the L stick to manipulate our shot or they could implement holding down a trigger with pressing x to control layups. There are a bunch of different things they could do. But I dont believe it will be anything like 2k9. You see Mike Wang didnt work on 2k9, I believe his last game was 2k8. 2k8 was not as nearly herky jerky as this year 2k9. And you also notice in 2k8 how the post moves were fluid and how in 2k9 they are stiff and slow and not as reponsive......why? because Mike Wang didnt make the game. So I say be patient and wait to see how its going to work. They will explain and you know they will put out a demo showing us the new controls. To be honest If they can make this fluid with one button and still give us some kind of other function with the other 3 face buttons on the controller then thats a good thing because well have more options as to what we can do on the offensive side of the ball, maybe they'll bring back the dropstep hopstep button or give us a "fight for position button". Live's previous controls were outdated to me, they have been the same for over 5 years now. So the innovation is a good thing. IMO I like having more buttons to do more things. It makes the game stay fresh cus there is always some kinda move that you can learn and master. With a dunk lay-up button its kinda basic and takes no "user" skill to master, the only skill in that is to guess which button to use when close to the basket. And they said they are adding thousands of new animations, we'll need more buttons to use to what they are putting in.

Anyways....I cant see how you can judge at this point. You know absolutely nothing about the one button system and how it works. Everyone has to just relax and wait for weekly blog or something to clear this up.Comment

A shotstick would be my number 1 choice, but this is a major step in the right direction.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

I'm pretty surprised to see that there's an issue here. There was an overwhelming response to us last year that people hated the two button shot system.Follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/stephensonmc

I loved the two-button system-- it's especially good when you're driving but see a shot blocker and wanna stop for the short jumper.Comment

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
Im totally for the SINGLE button Shot system...the game should use a combination of proximity to the basket and length of time holding down the SHOT Button to determine Dunk vs Layup...I light tap near the basket should activate Layup drive....versus, a HELD down button activating a slam dunk attempt. It feels more natural and lifelike to incorporate it that way
But most importantly, for this game to succeed, at least 2 things need to be well implemented:
-Player variety, individuality and strong demonstration of distinct styles and attributes allowing the player to harness different strengths and downplay certain weaknesses in the players and teams
-Secondly, The animation system needs to be more fluid...AND consistent with its framerate and fluid motion. In previous years, Live has been improving on the lifelike fluid motions and better tying them into player control input but there still are many problems under the boards and on certain motion captures in which the Mo Cap goes from a butter smooth lifelike rendition to cartoon/robot like pop tarts popping out of a toaster. Bring us more fluid natural like motions and inputs and smooth out the rough edges...especially under the boards and rebounds
-Also Franchise system must be deep and absorbing with the ability to jump in and play ANY team's game if the player wants to...Not just his own Franchise teamComment

Re: Bad News: '10 to only have 1 shot button for layups, dunks, jumpshots
two button system is flawed in so many ways. the dribbling with the right stick is horrible as well. you dont even have to know the moves and it allowed Yao ming to do countless crossovers !!!Comment
