What did you guys think of 2K's info today?

Be honest, I can take it
I really liked what I heard about create a draft class, summer league, and d-league. If these are all integrated well into association mode, then it should the most in-depth franchise mode of any sports game to-date. I'd have a hard time playing any kind of franchise mode with all game-generated rookies. The whole appeal of the mode to me is playing out multiple years of basketball and seeing how real-life future NBA players turn out in the game.

That being said, the screenshots are very much inferior to Live's. I need to see both in action before really having a true opinion, b/c what good is an in-depth franchise mode if the game does not play well.

I was impressed with what I heard from 2K on a lot of there info, mainly how much detail they have added to there CAP feature and what you can do with a CAP (I'm a big fan of CAPs so it really interests me.) There presentation from there screens looks nice. The part about them adding a ton more animations still leaves me skeptical about a lot of things, it's nice to have a bunch of newly added animations but if these new animations don't allow you to move freely with you player and causes you to get stuck in pre-determined situations what's the point? I like to see a lot of animations in a game but I don't want it to feel as if I have no control over what I want to do in X,Y,Z situations. They changed there controls a bit to make it easier but I would have to play it myself to determine what I think on that. Overall I like the info they presented, they seemed to have stepped it up a bit IMO, but there is still questions (much like every game until there released.)

Having too many animations can be a bad thing - it may look good, but when you're playing the game everything can feel too canned and feels like your player is just getting "sucked" to certain areas so that the game can display a certain animation. It's like stumbleweed said - in 2k you can't hardly move your player without triggering some unwanted canned animation.

This is especially a problem when dribbling. The Czar pointed this out in his 4th video, showing how 2k's players will keep moving on their own even when you don't want them to, but Live players actually stop and move responsively.

Live's dribbling and control system was much better than 2k's, which is why I'm worried about how Live has changed the dribbling controls this year. I'm afraid it's going to be too hard to execute the moves you want (like 2k's broken isomotions system).
Well said, 2k plays the game for you that's the difference between it and live

Why didn't you guys change the free throw game in Live 10?

Sounds like they just added stuff Live already had with the 82 games thing (I guess that's what the 4 teams that don't use Synergy use?) and the commentary stuff that's been talked about for Live 10.

I don't care for player creation 'cept NCAA football where I make a couple of great players and toss them on a crappy team so that part doesn't mean anything to me.

New animations are nice but it sounds like the game is still going to feel 5 years old wich is why I decided to be more intrested in Live this year anyway.

In my opinion, I think that the NBA 2K9 that was released was really 2K8.5, and this years 2K10 is the perfection of last years game with some new features

The dleague and summer league stuff is nice, but if its not real life players, then that'll suck badly.

I have a question for you guys. It seems like 2k's big announcement was the "my player" mode. Did yall upgrade "be a pro" to where we can actually control our created player throughout a season and more? And do yall have another big announcement that has yet to be revealed?

I haven't brought Live in years and I'm in love with what yall are doing with the game. Even if we know everything there is to know, I'm fine with it because its still more than what 2k has to offer, (excluding gameplay because we have yet to see live gameplay). I'm just curious if yall are holding onto anything that will make us go "WOW".
Exactly the My Player mode looks good. I like that you can go online with your CAP and play against other CAP's. Hopefully the online works lol. They basically took NHL 09 hockey league but did it for basketball minus the league. Every since NHL 09 I have been wanting this in a bball game. Hopefully "NBA Live" Already thought of this and just hasnt annouced it yet.

Re: Ask The Developers a Question

My question is on player differentiation.

Is there any difference from player to player for example an athletic player like LBJ who can jump out the gym vs. a fundamentally sound player like Kobe who can just about do anything on the court?

Or the flashy pg such as CP3 who can keep you are your toes every step of the way

vs the more fundamental one like Billups who know exactly pass to make in every situation

or the truly speedy ones like Tony Parker who are just dangerous because of their speed alone.

Even the big man, are players like Shaq and KG intimidating on the court, are athletes like Dwight and Amare hard to guard when out of position or in transition?

Do guys like Artest really D their man up or do players Birdman wreak havoc of because their ability to get their hands on the ball?

This is one area that Live 09 lacked in and something 2K9 had but couldn't implement properly because of its lack of player control.

I think that if you guys have players separated like this the game will be great, even if you don't have "sig" animations for everyone and only generic basketball animations instead. If you guys can manage to keep that same amount of control you had in Live 09 and combine with player differentiation the hardcore gamers will still enjoy it.

And next year would be the year where "sig" animations could be a focal point. Because if you guys are taking steps like the ones stated above people will really enjoy Live in the coming years.

                              1. Will all or most of the nba players have their free throw routine in live 10?

                              2. In live 09 there was a sportcenter top 10 nominee thingy that popped up from time to time. Will this be expanded upon so that we can actually see the top 10, 5 or 3 plays at the end of a game?
