Re: Ask The Developers a Question
hey Marcus is the allstar game venue gonna change from year to year in dynasty mode?
Is there gonna be an improved championship celebration at least 2 mins long?
Do you think yall have added enough animations for every situation so that the game does not get stale after a month?
I would think that the celebrations are amped up this year since they worked on presentation. But you never know... so im glad you asked. Can you guys confirm that we'll get a better ending when we win it all? One of my guys that plays NHL 09 said they have a 3 minute championship celebration, which includes skating around with the stanley cup and a team picture. I myself havent seen it but I may youtube it nowYeah so in summation I don't know who you racing I'm already at the finish line with the flag waving, c'mon!Comment

Only 1:50 but not bad"I still have yet to accomplish what I've been trying to do from Day 1.”

Re: Ask The Developers a Question
What I've always wanted to know is if you guys are "allowed" to play the competitions game?
Like in the years where the competition clearly had the better game, did you still play Live?

Re: Ask The Developers a Question
steph,
Please have a blog about how synergy differs from 82games
Also will you have tutorials on dribble and post moves?
On 2k10:
Adding 9000 animations to cover broken gameplay turns me off. It's just even more random actions that you never wanted to do with your player.
The NBA jam turbo meter is a horrible idea to stop turbo cheesers.Comment

Re: Ask The Developers a Question
I'm with stumbleweed - I'm not impressed by 2k's "tons of animations." I just want the game to have quick, responsive controls and I want my player to react properly rather than having some animation take over and control the game for me. Having too many animations can be a bad thing - it may look good, but when you're playing the game everything can feel too canned and feels like your player is just getting "sucked" to certain areas so that the game can display a certain animation. It's like stumbleweed said - in 2k you can't hardly move your player without triggering some unwanted canned animation.
This is especially a problem when dribbling. The Czar pointed this out in his 4th video, showing how 2k's players will keep moving on their own even when you don't want them to, but Live players actually stop and move responsively.
Live's dribbling and control system was much better than 2k's, which is why I'm worried about how Live has changed the dribbling controls this year. I'm afraid it's going to be too hard to execute the moves you want (like 2k's broken isomotions system).Last edited by blues rocker; 08-06-2009, 12:57 PM.Comment

Re: Ask The Developers a Question
Hey this is for Marcus..(please respond)
I don't post here alot but I do want to say to you all at EA Sports...you guys have to understand that what we see is what we judge...I can't articulate alot of the terminology that you are used to hearing, but I can tell you what I don't see..and me being a ball player myself, the little things are what either makes or breaks your game or 2k's game, first off features are important but no where near as important as gameplay....!!!
when I dribble I want to be able to dribble in any direction, high dribble or low dribble, the momemtum needs to feel natural and the response needs to feel authentic not robotic.
When I shoot I want to be able to fake, lean, shoot into the guy or fade and it feel genuine and not canned. Also when I go to the hole, depending on what the defense gives me I may feel the need to either change the shot or pass off at the last second, you guys do not give us that ability..(thus far) so we are left with whatever move we started with most times...(that is not realistic b-ball)
when I pass the ball I need to have the ability to fake a pass, I may not want to pass to the guy I intended to pass to because the defense may have close the window of opportunity I had when I fisrt saw the open man...(we need this...!!greatly)
when playing defense, I need to feel like I am holding my ground against the man I'm defending, (so kind of vibration would greatly help) and if I am going to the rack, I want to feel like I can feel the presence of the defense coming at me...if possible
also blocks are a key thing in any game (just as important as dunks really..) can we hear the blocks at a reasonable volume..it makes for a great smack talking moment..really..lol (little things)
intros, haltime shows, pop up stats add so much depth to the game, crowd response, coach instructions and if you guys are gonna spend so much time showing time outs...at least put some audible instructions telling the team what to improve upon and or who to try to shut down, (relative to game being played)
sorry for being long winded but I dont post here that much so I have alot more to say, but will you at least repsond to what you think is relevant in my remarks features are great but what gets my money is realism, please stop having objects pass through the players and how about crowd realism also under the hoop, if the ball or playier goes out of bounds, can they reat realistically to the situation instead of just the normal (non reaction)...how do you guys feel about it? thanksJambroComment

Re: Ask The Developers a Question
As a lot have stated, the news is good and I expected 2K to fix holes in gameplay and build on the solid game they already have. Nothing they announced really knocked me off my seat, but all good.
I buy both games every year because it gives me different experiences and I'm a basketball nut. For me, other than a more fluid and more realistic gameplay experience from 2K, the difference for me that really has me playing 2K more is the player differentiation. There are so many players that I have tweaked to look more like themselves when it comes to their shooting form, etc. I've had so many games where I'm like "yo, that's Kobe, Lebron, etc." to how they played and killed like they do in real life. Live, though a solid basketball game, players feel very similar to each other, but hopefully that changes this year.
Both games do a lot of things well and there are things that are still lacking from both also. I'm hoping both titles can finally get teams to "really" play like themselves and take advantage of their strengths.
Good work though Steph. It's nice to take that developmental journey with a company to game we all love.Comment
