I'm not at my console, but is that one of those DNA/Synergy data points? ("Tendency to back down in high post/15-20ft range") If not, something to think about in the future...

Correct me if I'm wrong, I recall VC does this occasionally as well (sorry I didn't watch much Nets bball last year )...

Don't get me wrong I think Live plays a great game of ball. The offensive controls are the best I have ever played with. I just think the post up position (not the down low post game) is lacking and they did not give the user enough tools on defense to counter all the offensive weaponry at our disposal.

I agree with many things that you have said. But the defensive tools thing has me baffled. What is it that you want to be able to do. You can consistently put your self in the position to contest and call for help. Defenders have been given more opportunities for strips and tips. What is it that you need to do. Good offense HAS more tools then even good defense.

For me, the lack of a defensive stance/ defensive lock button is what throws it off balance. For pretty much every camera view ( except for a top down view) there are areas on the court where, due to depth perception, you think you are in front of your guy and you are really not. Like i usually play on the "high" 2K camera angle (i dont know what its called in live) to minimize this, but on this view in the demo, i can see kobe coming down the lane and i think im in front of him and im actually off to the side and he runs right past me. The defensive stance buttons typically prevented this from happening.

And thats without using any of any of the insane dribble controls...

You should and use the def assist button when you feel lost (RB) it can help you get back into proper position sometimes.

I get what your saying though Ill but because for me its a perception thing, I don't get too mad because I know in the full game it shouldn't be a prob anymore.

The help d is great and the steals and tips are too (although too many but maybe sliders can adjust that). My problem is just like there is no post up button their is no body up button. I mean I hate having the cpu decide for me when I want to body up. It just feels like they are taking too much control away from the user.

I feel you on the post up thing for sure. At least mike is looking into and taking suggestions for it, which is incredible. I've used your sliders a few times on 2k so it's all love baby.

Beluba, couldn't you incorporate alley-oops with the free style passing some how? Maybe if it were a combination of L2+X, that would free up the triangle button.

I have no problem with calling a post up play for one of my bigs, if I want to post up with my guards I'll call Iso and go to work on the block, I really don't need a button to do any of that.

That's not what I'm talking about..that part I know works. I edited my original post to update my findings.

If you are protecting the ball and you make contact with your man, it should be an automatic post type encounter. Same if you already downlow, and in contact.

Being able to protect the ball could also help even as far out as the 3pt line, if you are waiting for something to develop but don't want to get caught with the ball hanging out in front of your defender.

Not having a post up button is hurting, because I'm getting stripped in a lot of mismatches because I can't protect the ball. I have to make the ball vulnerable to the quicker player before I can post up.
Damn you Born...that was exactly what I was thinking, lol. 2K7 or 8 had a protected walk by holding the LT. This would be a nice solution. What is LT used for right now? I don't remember...

I don't mind it though as-is. Once you get the hang of feathering the stick towards the defender, it works pretty consistently, and looks a little more realistic than being vacuumed into postup position cause Live's solution makes the player turn around and ease backwards a few steps before the contact. Biz is right tho...the CPU doesn't seem to post at all with wing guys. Maybe in the final build.

Can't you just call a play for the person you want to post up with? I'm not understanding the problem.

It's not that. It's just that they removed the post up button and made it contextual instead of user controlled. My first post of the thread should explain everything.

I think the bigger problem is that CPU wings don't post up. That's a big part of kobes game and I haven't seen him do it yet.
