How Do You All Feel About The Auto Post Up?

Just want to get opinions here. I have already said how I feel. I just want to know if you like it or dislike it.

    UPDATED 9/17
Ok, after playing the crap out of this demo I have come to 3 conclusions. The first 2 points are from a user standpoint and the last is about the cpu.

    USER
    1. After playing I have mastered posting up in the paint. Why, because bodies are bunched up and it's easy to be bodied up against a defender to initiate that contact for the post up. Posting up in the lane is no problem for me. The only concern is the moves you can do in the paint appear to be limted...

    2. Posting up outside the lane is a somewhat of a problem. I can still do it but here's my observation. Because I am outside the lane the chance of me being bodied up by the defender decreases. Since there is no post up button, if I do not have that body to body contact I cannot post up. The problem with that is (for the sim heads/people who really watch ball) that many players initiate the post position before any contact. Meaning, for example, Kobe will turn around into the position and he would initiate contact w/the defender instead of the defender having to body him up first. Outside of the paint, getting into the post position depends on defender contact instead of me choosing to do it and the defender reacts to me. The way it is now, I have to search for a defender to come in contact with in order to "activate" the post up move. You should be able to play w/your back to the basket when you want to. Whether it's to initiate a post move that leads to a shot or just to post to get a better position or to protect the rock. I just don't like it.

But that being said, I have gotten the hang of it for the most part...

    CPU
Which leads me to the cpu play and why this game, at this point (maybe could be fixed w/sliders) does not play like real basketball...

***This also ties in with the lack of a defensive stance button. So when playing defense the user can't body up the cpu. This leads to no auto post up by the cpu i.e. no fadeaways or other moves off the post position outside of the paint.***

    3. Outside of the paint I have yet and I mean not once seen the cpu initiate a post up position. My guess, is that because of the auto post up needed to be activated by contact and there is really no way for the user to do that on defense, the cpu cannot do it. Maybe I am doing something wrong on defense, but it just takes away from the realism aspect of the game. I mean the only thing that differentiates Kobe from Fisher is that Kobe shoots and scores more. So everyone has turned into a straight up jump shooter and slasher. No fadeaways at all. I mean fadeways off the post position are such a huge part of Kobe's game but they are not in this game. Artest and Odom (more so Artest) do alot of their moves off of a post position but not here, Artest all he does is shoot jumpers on me. Again, maybe I am doing something wrong or maybe sliders can fix this. But my definition of a sim, is not having all cpu players outside of the paint only shoot straight jumpers and drive the lane w/out ever having their back to the basket.

    Just my observation.

It was like that last year too....

But it is even harder to post up this year. I hope I can get the hang of it.

i prefer the control at the moment. we'll see after a few good weeks with the game though. but control is never a good thing.

i don't like the idea of auto post up - like the other poster said, you should be able to post up with guards and small forwards if you want to rather than the game deciding when you can and can't post up.

I hate it in the combine, and I imagine I'll hate it in Live too. This has got to go.

to post up you have to slightly push the left stick into the defender. Beluba said that and it works perfectly for me. I can backdown people far away from the basket and drain fade aways with Kobe.
I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.

I haven't had enough time with the game, but in short I don't like the auto post up.

I'd be interested in hearing a better breakdown of how to control it though.

When I do have a big posting up, I want to know how to throw fakes without picking up my dribble.

the only reason it was removed was because we had more important features planned with the other buttons -- and we basically ran out. if anyone has any suggestions for a manual backdown, i'm all ears. I have an idea for next year's game, but it will require a more significant overhaul of the control scheme that would be out of scope for a patch.

I don't think there needs to be a designated button for the alley-oop, but I can't really say since I haven't played the demo.

I absolutely hate it! Why get rid of the right/left stick click? I say turn Left trigger into post up on offense and BOX OUT/STRAFE on defense. Who needs that lame thing on the left trigger currently.

It kills me that there is no box out/strafe button. Some say the Y button but the Y button always makes my guy block and not box out.

Then if I need to get better at it then it's something I have to do. I tried the slight tap and to me a slight tap does not flow right when you are trying to do moves on the right stick. But practice more I shall do.

But the problem I still have is because of the way user defense is played, I do not see the cpu use the post position/post up play outside of the paint. It's just disappointing to see Kobe just be a slasher and straight up jump shooter when the back to basket part of his game is huge.

On the user end I have to get better but on the cpu end, at least in the games I have played, it's still a problem. Because (I am not sure how to put this), if I am not in the right position while playing defense then there is no posting up by the cpu player (again mostly talking about outside of the paint). Again, if I need practice or I'm doing something wrong please tell me.
