Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread
The game is a very good outing. There are a lot of really good things done in Live 10 but when compared to the competition it lacks depth. But it was clear this yr is about gameplay and getting back to the fundamentals of bball. Knowing that, this game was a success. The way they shadow dble hot players and make it near impossible to dunk all day is fantastic. No longer can I use Wade to get everything done. I actually have to use the freestyle passing to get him open or assist pass to other players which is fun to do.
Next yr I hope they make everything feel precise and crisp as well as expand on what was already built (Inevitable actually). The frame work is incredible. I could see (if not sent via patch); More dunk packages, More freethrow routines, More ref and player interaction with all ref signals recorded, and More gameplay modes. The gameplay has its flaws but it is a very good basketball centered game. I can not stress that enough. Fun to control. Next yr may def be the year, esp with O.S's help. I will play some more and probably blog about what I dream to see in NBA Live 11 in due time. All in all Good Job EA, could get better but good job. This game is approx. 2 steps behind the comp. The Comp saved itself with all those gameplay modes and features. This is def a battle confusing the best of us.Comment

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread
Ok just played my 3rd online game, the 2nd one dude quit in the first quarter (trying to running around crazy looking to score easy, not gonna happen). The 3rd game was a blast, guy picked Memphis as Iverson was killing me (you really do gotta recognize who your guarding and play him accordingly). It was a close 1st quarter only to have me pull away in the second. I had him down like 16 in the 3rd quarter as he came back to pull within 4 going into the 4th.
Mayo is a beast!!!! Started lighting me up with him. But eventually went to forcing things with Iverson which really cost him the game as I pulled away in the 4th to win by 12. He was 12-15 from the FT line as I was getting fouls called on me left and right. But he shot 31.8% from the field to my 51.8
Epic games man. You really can take advantage of your mismatches so be looking for them yourself. I love the physical contact animations from fighting for position, to fighting around screens, the interaction with layups and dunks, you don't fall everytime sometimes you just stumble, the hustle plays, the tip rebounds, the put back rebounds. I mean every game truly is a difference experience. Each game is fresh and you never know what to expect.
I also saw a couple dunks and drive in layups that I've never seen before not even in the demo. A little tip as well which I'm sure has been mentioned before but really understand where you are on the court and when you drive make sure you push the L stick to that corresponding side to avoid contact. So if your pass the ball up the court (basket going in ----> that direction) for a fast break and your on the left side of the court driving while dribbling with your left hand, make sure to push the L stick to the left to avoid the contact and lay it in with your left hand.
Defensively, if you notice somebody driving a lot or getting by your man because he just doesn't have the ability to stay with them BAG OFF OF HIM. Do not crowd him, force him to be a jump shooter or send the double if your in the right position.
Wow....that's all I can say.Last edited by bls; 10-05-2009, 07:34 PM.Comment

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread
Appreciate the response. However, the gameplay your game provides may actually allow me to keep on playing and go all 82 games.
On another note, I haven't seen too much on the Spurs; were you guys able to add anything arena specific for them or any little details I should look out for when playing as or against them?Comment

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread
Finally got the game and after 3 full games I am pretty impressed. It does feel 'tighter' than the demo and I really feel like the LA court in the demo / one camera in the demo didn't do the graphics justice. It looks great, some of the courts look sensational.
The gameplay is very nice. Having played the Draft Combine non stop, when you play LIVE you definitely notice the way the fundamentals aren't done so well...rebounding and fast breaks are very, very limited in LIVE 10 in terms of animations. Having played the DEMO a lot, I've not seen anything in a few games of the retail version to suggest there's anything better. I am yet to see the CPU run a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 fast break on me...and I have my team set to crash boards. There just doesn't seem to be any real fastbreak logic.
However...the immersion is awesome and the playbooks are very, very good. I've already gone through 4 or 5 teams just looking at the different play options. Outstanding.
If they'd have got the fastbreaking right...this could have been a knock out game. As it is, it's very good and a massive...massive...step forward.

On the pick and roll, the "picker" needs to stay longer on picking before dropping down towards the basket. Ahhh figured out have to hold the B button longer.Last edited by DGuinta1; 10-05-2009, 07:48 PM.NFL - Dallas Cowboys, MLB - NY Yankees

You can control that by holding the B button (or Circle) and if you want the guy to pop out from the pick just press RB (or R1).Comment

Steph, I'm finally in dynasty mode siming a season and it's very playable, but man the sim stats are pretty spot on accept for league leaders in scoring, it's really bad. Could you guys some how patch this for the scoring leaders. I mean really, everything else really looks good. The scoring leader thing is killing me.N.Y Mets
