Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

I put it on all-star in my first game that was a mistake I got raped by LeBron and Co. I was the Grizzlies. Brought it back down to pro and blew a lead vs. the Pistons to lose by four. Iguodala is a best in this game, too much fun to play with. I gotta get use to everything but this is taking me back to the old days of Live when I first started playing NBA games. When I lose it's not frustrating like in the other game because I'm not losing due to BS. Be back later gonna go play some more.

Just wondering if the Magic and Thunder jersey numbers have been changed? They were wrong in the demo (Magic) and in early photos (Thunder). Thanks a lot.

        lol

man heres the ultimate praise for Live 10

we have been playing back and forth my copy of live and my friends 2k10.
i did a replica game on both.

        wolves - suns in phoenix

after both, she said, would u be mad if i said i liked 2k better?
i said, do u want to stay together?

anyways, we did one quarter each of two other replica games.

she broke down and admitted. the other were too glossy and looked too phony and canned.

basically we all agreed, 2k looks like what u see on tv and plays like a videogame.
live looks like a videogame, but plays like what u see on tv

thats the best wya i can sum it up

the glitz and glamour wore off and it became about how real the game was playing.

my buddy said he was in dynasty and was winning a blow out game, he paused to take a shower and let cpu play cpu to finish the game,,he said there is no option in controller select to put it back to cpu vs cpu. Big Bummer, I often put a blow out game back to cpu vs cpu to finish while I do something else. This may have convinced me to buy 2k instead. Why in the HeII did they remove that?

Before I start I'd like to point out I've booted up the game 3 times and have only got the demo group in the hangar. Once to put in the DNA code, once when installing it and now to play a game.

            Post as I play...

            7 minute quaters,Kings @ Thunder (me)

Don't have the Kings gold jersery.

Nice mention of the rookie battle with Harden and Evans after having inserted them into the starting line ups.
Don't like how the commentary gets cut off when you pause.
Can see the screens in the arena during a timeout.
Loving the fouls. I did bump the slider up a bit though.

            22-19 Kings after 1
They shot 76.9% and 66.7% for me. Better take those sliders down.
Didn't get a chance for quater subs.

OOO gettin' some nice stuff for the highlight thread.
I'll try raising the hands in post slider see if this stops that steal every time but that might be for something else.

34-32 Kings after 2 for sure gonna need more than 7 minutes.
            Kings 53.6% overall but 57.1% from 3
            Thunder 51.9%
Wasn't as many fouls there. Don't think there were any at all in the 2nd actually.
Hands in post thing doesn't seem to help.

            46-44 Kings after 3

            This game is intense.
Any way to see how many time outs you've got left?
Evans has hardly played for the Kings, pretty much only the first few minutes because I had him as a starter.
This really got the game of runs deal down. Kings haven't scored in about 2:10 and I've got a 5 point lead now.
A ticker came up with how many time outs we both have.
63-61 34 seconds left,Westbrook misses and then they start fouling after Kristic gets the rebound. They still had 1 to give though so it was Kristic going to the line. Got it to Westbrook.
Crowd yelling de-fense! during the timeout after the FTs. Normal season atomsphere too.
They missed, got the rebound and put it in. 4.5 left.

            65-63 final for the Thunder.
            Gonna need at least 10 minutes,probably 12.

            Thunder 44.1%,41.7% from 3 (though most of those were open),8/9 from the line,31 reb,16 ast,3 blk,2 steals,9 turnovers,5 fouls,11 fastbreak points

            Westbrook with 16 pts,5 reb,1 ast
            Harden 15 pts,4 ast
            10 more from Sef
Nenad didn't get any points but he did snag 12 boards

            Kings 44.4%,44.4% from 3 as well,3/4 from the line,26 reb,17 ast,5 blk,5 steals,6 turnovers,6 fouls,2 fast break points

            Martin with 19 pts,5 rebs,3 ast
            Udrih 12 pts,7 ast
            Nocioni 11 pts,3 rebs

Nice replays, there's even one just listed as emotion.
            Gotta up these highlights now.
Probably one of the best games of basketball I've played.
You my friend, have just been Liverized!

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

                THE TORCH HAS BEEN PASSED!

Graphically NBA Live 10 is so far beyond 2K it's not even worth mentioning. And gameplay? Wow.... just wow. Maybe I'm not supposed to compare, but I have to, as do many of us. This game just feels like the NBA. The individuality of each player is exceptional and they absolutely will own you like they do in real life. My guy is OJ Mayo and I played against him.... bad move. Dropped Js all night long. If you leave a guy open he will take the open jumper. Guys move and respond to where they're supposed to be and defensive controls are out of this world.

On the subject of defense, the retail version seems MUCH tighter than the demo. Not sure if it's true, but control is very smooth and you feel like you are both at the mercy of the computer and also still can at least corral a star player or speedster a certain direction.

Dynastics stats are horrible and are my biggest complaint. I pray this is somehow improved with a little tweaking (basically minutes are too even... that's it.... starters don't get enough clock to get enough stats). Other than that, SENSATIONAL. I've never seen a jump this great from one year to the next. Bravo!

I will say I don't like hangar, however. I really really enjoy just popping in Live and shooting around with a player of my choice... which granted, was usually Mayo or Rose, but still, why take it out? I would think a TON of people just threw in live and shot around to waste time, improve your game, try out a player, etc. Now we need to load a dynasty up, choose a team, etc, to try out what Ben Gordon might feel like. I don't know what the hangar is supposed to bring... but gimme back my choice of players... wtf?

Still... simply stunning game through and through. Oh, and everybody, ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS ON YOUR SCREEN. There's a reason there's a setting in the game to do it.... really. It's night and day...........

Wow. Thank you NBA Live team. Thank you.

                  more impressions..

the people complaining about rebounding are people who don't box out, because most bball video games you can just run to the position where the ball comes off the rim and jump. not this game, you actually have to box out and get position early

the people complaining about blocking don't know how to get in the proper position defensively and time it, or on offense try to attack the rim at the wrong angles and end up getting swatted. i'll give you that one of the blocking animations is strange, once in awhile you'll see that 'phantom block', but 95% of the animations are on point and very rewarding to those who use position and good timing to attempt blocks

those who complain about collision in the lane being overdone, don't know how to attack the rim from the proper angles, or haven't mastered 'layup solutions' and don't understand the fundamentals behind it. I have no problem attacking the rim given the proper situation. i can run right through hedo turkoglu with richard jefferson or iggy and go in untouched, usually in a beautiful move that leaves the weaker defender in the dust, clueless as to what just happened. whereas a decent defender will d me up better. angles and controls fellas, angles and controls.

bottom line is this is the best simulation basketball game ever. i think the little things go very much unnoticed so far, and it's sad to see because EA put so many great, fundamental things into this game. this is one where you need to play for a good long while and pay attention to the details. it's loaded with them

Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

I have to say that I am stunned to the point of amazement.

This is the biggest one year leap of any sports video game that I can remember.

I'd go so far to say tha once I get comfortable with the game, from a sheer gameplay point of view, this might be the most sim sports game out there right now, outside of MLB The Show.

I played Lakers Magic on default all star with 12 minute quarters, to get a feel for the flow, sub patterns, etc..

I began the game playing like I would play NBA 09: rushing up to every ball handler up tight, quick strike ankle breakin my heart out..forcing pick and rolls, etc...and got myself properly hammered.

My team defense was breaking down all over the place, I was geting slaughterd on the boards, and mass turnovers.

Positive development in itself right there.

I then knocked it off and began playing the game like I ha a brain, andI saw things I really enjoyed.

Playing sensible defense: Why run up to a perimeter player 5 feet behind the 3 pt line? Why roll up on Dwight Howard 18 feet from the baseket?

Position yourself, know who you are guarding, and with who, and good things happen. Play off of poor peremiter scorers and you can get some deflections on passes, because "GASP!" the hands up animation actually effects the ball!

EA could have done us a favor and kindly remind us of how the post game worked, and I'm a little confused about the pick and roll controls this year...can someone shed some light on that for me?

I just played my first full game of this and honestly it feels like a complete arcade game to me. I feel I have no control over what goes on and defense doesn't do much.

Live has never changed for me. Oh well.

What is it that you guys see in this game enough to claim it's better than 2k?

Very limited play time, but my first impression is, this game is unbelievably awesome! Kudos to EA! I am so pleasantly surprised. Best first impression a sports game has given me in a VERY long time.

Just got done playing a half of Cavs(me) vs. The Pitstanks in Auburn Hills. I'm straight loving this game. Sooo much smoother than the demo. Was able to use the Baseline Low cam. Loved it, smooth as butter. Had a turnover and heard "De-troit Bas-ket-ball" got chills. Nice runs back and forth. Spread the ball around and got some really good scoring ops. Started playing two man and trying to do too much LBJ, here comes the Pistons. Liked where they had a Rip Hamilton presented by and then a Highlight montage. Gonna get up early in the morning and play a preseason game before work. So far, liking what I see.

Funny thing is I went into Gamestop and the dude tried to talk me out of buying this and buying 2k. I'm like "dude this is the game." He's like "2k is the stuff, blah blah." There's signs everywhere for 2k, so I"m thinking "tool". I know that I was right when I played Fifa08 and saw the future of Soccer gaming, even when PES was king of the roost. Think it's deja vu all over again with NBA Live '10. 2 more years, Game, Set and Match EA....

This year, great job and keep aiming toward Fifa/NHL series levels of excellence!

Some of the role players faces a terrible. Reggie Evens looks horrible, Rasho looks horrible, Amir Johnson looks horrible. I can go on and on. I was really excited to see all the good things but some of this players faces in live 10 are terrible.
