    Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

    Is it just me or are the CPU defenders the only players who can force the opponent to lose their dribble after trying to force it into the paint?

    Do I have to press steal once the contact animation kicks in or something?

    That and not being able to due a multi player season are my only two gripes so far.

      The ultimate solution is that you have to really try to manually rebound but even then sometimes the animations fail you. My personal favorites are when guys get their own rebound twice while the my player just reaches out for the board instead of jumping (or goes for a block after the ball has bounced off the rim).
      I know exactly what your saying Kid I've given up plenty of rebounds because my player decided to not jump. I've said it countless times this game forces you to do everything on your own.

      Some people like it but I hate it at times because the game is still 5 on 5. So I shouldn't have to do everything myself just to get a stop. Especially w/ great defensive teams like the Celtics.

        does this game truly play a good game of simulation in that you really have to play real basketball? What about comeback cpu AI? Are there often moments where the cpu is hard to contain even though you are trying to play right... or do some people just not play right and get beat down?

          Yes;
          No;
          Yes.

          At least i feel like that. Live 10 doesn't have incredible animations; instead it plays real basketball with your being able to control, and doing the right thing will get you rewarded any time.

            Re: Official NBA Live 10 Impressions Thread

            Haven't picked the game up yet, between the dynasty issues, dynamic season not starting until the end of October, and the patch being released early November I'm really in no hurry. That being said, these impressions have me pretty excited to pick it up.

            Couple of questions:

            How is the Late Game AI?

            How are the substitution patterns?

            Does the CPU only set screens to the right of the ballhandler or will they come from the left as well?

            Thanks everyone!

              1) Do the words 'unstoppable juggernaut' mean anything to you?

              2) Not terrible, occasionally questionable...example: Playing as the Bobcats with auto subs, when Diaw(starting PF) goes to the bench , the cpu always goes to Desagna Diop, a backup center.I've played a few full length games and have yet to see the computer bring in Diaw's real backup,Vladimir Radmanovic

              3) I have never even given that any thought to be honest

                The Bobcats might be the best defensive team in this game. I beat them with Utah, but they were a royal pain.

                  It is absolutely vital that you defend the CPU based on the DNA tendencies of the players that you are defending.

                  This game is based on the %'s and if you do not force the ballhandler into a position where he has to go to his lower % scoring moves, you'll pay a heavy, heavy price.

                  There are guys who you want to let shoot off of the dribble...guys that you want close out on in a hurry..guys who you want to force left or right..etc.. play the %'s and things will generally work out in your favor.

                  Sometimes you have to acknowledge that a guy is going to make a play and beat you from time to time, and you'll lose.

                  That's sports.

                    Good post. Can't be stressed enough that the game forces you to look at the strategy and think about what you're trying to do. That is, assuming you can get past the issues.

                        Up close the Heat's uni's look like those weight-loss jumpsuits.

                        Still seeing a ton of rebounds hit the ground and loose ball AI is bad.

                        Absolutely love the jump shooting though.

                          Is there a way to preset your lineups?

                          bench, defensive, 3pt, freethrow lineups etc...

                            Well I think that was the point of his post. If you play guys the way you regularly play guys (i.e. general basketball game defense since forever), then the bad way is going to rear its head at some point and you're going to start feeling like your contests don't matter. If you make it a point to keep guys away from their spots or go where they like to or what have you then the results can be satisfying.

                            Of course I could just be giving the game too much credit, i mean i've had it all of 3 days and played maybe 6 whole games.

                              Beluba confirmed that there is absolutely no fake comeback logic implemented this year. Team go on runs like in real life. You have to be focused on the game all the time though

                                Late game subs are definitely on the patch list I am led to believe. I was playing as the Lakers, down by 10 with 2 mins left and they subbed out their entire starting 5 except for Gasol. Crazy...

                                My impressions of the game are generally good... the court atmosphere is fantastic and playing as the Lakers there are some authentic sounds especially when the Lakers play defense and hit a 3 pointer. The likenesses are very good, Kobe looks the real deal along with many others.

                                That said, I wish the players had some feeling of weight about them. When players collide I want to feel like they really did collide and when they move, that there's some feeling of momentum. Collisions are there, but players kind of turn on a dime... that's where I think the momentum should kick in.
