The patch - what's been confirmed?

Looking through some older threads, it seems these things have been 100% confirmed for the patch:

    - Automatic post up button added.
    - Step back 3pt fixed.
    - Skipping animations (after a player scores) removed.

Does anyone know if we have any confirmation about rebounding?

I.e the CPU always goes back up after an offensive rebound. They never kick it out or re-set the play. (And score at a ridiculous rate)

I am really hoping this is fixed and guys like Vajero and Ben Wallace will grab ORBs and kick it out again a bit.

Anything else confirmed that you fellas know of?

The fouls are being patched, as well as fixing the fatigue on/off issue. The stuttering on the ESPN streams in the Academy will be patched. Don't think I've heard anything regarding defensive sliding or loose balls/rebounding.

Just some things taken from Mike Wang's Twitter:

      • yeah player lock is fixed in the patch. when u turn on player lock in the controller settings, ai teammates don't do anything without your input. After patch, they will
      • we tuned it a bit in the patch, but it's important not to overdribble in LIVE. Just make your move and get your shot off. (In response to: Dont know if you addessed this already, but please tell me u got a patch for turnovers in the paint, it's killin me online *smh*)
      • yeah man. I'm still testing. I think we'll scale agility down for everybody but probably not everyone the same at 40 (In response to: Curious regarding your impressions of the 40 scale global player agility from OS forums. Tried it earlier. The game is smoother IMO.)

what I am not seeing is increasing the fast breaks in this game, and if that's not in the patch I just cannot see myself continuing to play this title

          If they fix:

          - Fastbreaks
          - Rebounding
          - Defensive sliding (see Born's post)

Then this game would be one of the great NBA games of all time..."Live is back" would not just be marketing BS, it would be realistic.

But we said all this in last seasons "patch" and "wish" lists...Steph and Mike said on numerous occasions that fasbtreaks and rebounding + sliding would all be fixed for NBA Live 10 when those of us who played LIVE 09 asked.

It's kind of dissapointing that all three probs are still very clear.

I am really hoping they fix them in the patch. I really don't want to hear "We're fixing that for LIVE 2011 fellas" as they've spun those "next season" lines way too often IMO.

The stuttering on the ESPN streams = I couldn't care less about. IMO it's irrelevant.

CPU players walking out of bounds = important.
CPU players never kicking out after a rebound = important.
CPU players on 95% of the teams having zero awareness about fastbreaks and walking the ball up even when there's no defensders in front of them = important.
Sliding being much worse than LIVE 09 = important.

I am really hoping for big things with this patch. Not just another season of "hey fellas, if you look really closely you will notice the court in the practice academey now looks a bit more shiny" type patch...

I would like to see realistic substitution patterns (like the ones in 2K) and I am really getting tired of watching the same animation everytime I drive to the basket, so I hope they put better "shot contact" animations.

Agreed, Court_vision. There are just some things that simply shouldn't be happening in an NBA game. Things that you would never see in real life. I'm not saying players never step out of bounds, but when a player deliberately walks out of bounds to receive a pass, something is wrong. Players passing to another player that hasn't even passed the half court mark, again, shouldn't be happening. Staring at loose balls and rebounds like zombies instead of hustling, etc.

The core game play of Live 10 is solid and fun, it's just the stupid things that I see piss me off and want me to snap my controller in half.

Out of a few friends i have spoken with...all listed this as their number one thing that determines whether they keep the game or sell it.

Honestly...I've sat here and watched this forum go very, very easy on EA this year.

Some of the things in the game are very poor and the other game would be torn apart for it.

People went over the top about this game post releae because it seemed so "fresh". That's because many of the fellas were 2K players who saw everything in LIVE as being new and didn't notice the many flaws.

As someone who played Live 08 and 09...most of those problems you mention were all in LIVE 08 and LIVE 09.

Fastbreaks have been missing the entire series.

Rebounding has been woeful the entire series.

Yes, LIVE 10 has "improved" them...but not to the extent that they are even close to being fixed.

I like both Marcus and Mike. I appreciate their efforts here. However, if you're going to come on repeatedly and say "LIVE is BACK!"...you need to get those things right before saying it IMO.

Don't scream out "we are BACK"...and then leave out rebounding code.

Don't scream out "we are BACK"...and then have CPU players run out of bounds often when i call a play.

To quote the great Hakeem..."stay humble, stay hungry". Don't spit out "we are back" when you make the 8th seed. Golden State wanted to tell everyone about beating Dallas in the playoffs...and they haven't made it back since. Don't just spit it out, actually produce results.

I am hoping this patch is EA really stepping up and showing us they are back. Not just rhetoric.

Maybe I am being harsh...but people have gone really easy on them this season. If you've played LIVE 08 onwards, you'll know that tonnes of probs from those games still exist. IMO that's dissapointing.

Let's see what they deliver in the patch. It's over to them now to really show us they're back.

FYI, I've seen Wallace kick it out several times, and I've seen small forwards kick it out pretty regularly. I think they won't kick it out if they have a clear path up to the backboard, as they shouldn't.

The problem I see is more with the defensive players being pushed behind the backboard, giving the offensive player the aforementioned clear path, than with the logic of the offensive player going directly back up.

CV i'll go on record saying i dont see fastbreaks being patched because after a week of editing and playing with most teams its not a bug logic problem its cause IMO buta contradiction in the dna

IMO its not about the defense getting back quickly, when i play the bulls they always get 10 pys by halftime becuase they run out

for example i'll use my edited bulls and lakers

on the lakers kobe is the man he touches the ball 80% of the posessions so when a rebound is passed out to say farmer, he bolts out but slows to run the offense so kobe gets his touches now when kobe grabs the board he runs out occasionally and the break occurs and when kobe and gasol is on the bench the lakers run alot more....the closer the ratings of who can take shots the faster and more transition happy the offense will be

the game is programmed to make the star initiate the offense and fast breaking will cause the scrubs getting points, there is a whole thread about this BEING UNREALISTIC

NOW THE BULLS all these guys i edited to about 3% difference in who is the go to guy so on any given possesion anyone of then can shoot or drive with out it being a forced shot out of the offense

some teams i noticed transition well philly, NO, bulls, nets, kings, suns, just to name a few, the teams with set offenses and high pick and roll big man offenses mostly walk it up
NOW PLAYING: NBA Live, madden 11,12, battlefield v, F1 2020 and injustice 2 and COD:MW

                              Exactly CV.

This happens a lot when a game rises from the ashes. People are so impressed by the HUGE strides. Because of that they have a tendency to remain in the honeymoon phase with the game with their heads in the sand. I think people are just blinded by the "new fresh" look.

I love the game despite the obvious problems though.
