In fair Comparison - Videos inside.

I made my video in October 2009.

Let's compare the two games with same camera angles almost...and just see how they went backwards.

Please no mentions of the competitions game. Keep this 100% on EA's titles only!

    Live 10 (Video By, Behindshadows)

It's really interesting how different my perspective is from yours.

When I look at the Live 10 video, what I see are long drawn out animations that felt so horrible to me that I had to put down the controller.

I'll take Elite any day of the week, and this video comparison just re-enforced that opinion for me.

I thought Live 10 animated well, I just thought it need more in some areas. Mainly on contact animations, jumpshots, etc.

Controls were great on Live 10, they were not broken! I just feel like you guys could have focused on the graphics aspects and correcting animations in areas. And kept the same controls, Elite 11 would be the greatest things.

But it just seems like primary focus was on changing the way it controls / feels.

And the graphics alone on Elite 11, looks like everything we hated about Sony's NBA The Inside series, they look almost identical.

You can't honestly tell me by looking at Live 10, that removing animations was the key, instead of adding more and just improving the ones that were already there.

But yes we are two voices of opinion, I respect yours and I'm just voicing mine.

Actually those animations aren't that long at all and are quite quick people fail to understand that animations give a game life and give it fluid motion . The animations were p2p animations but they were in the right spots all i see from Elite is a half finished ship product with animationos that are so quick there horrible along with a failed presentation atleast in the Live 10 vid i actually seen just half of what looked like the commentators talking in reaction to eachother then just dull statements

Seeing the video side by side, I could not agree more with your post. EA took a risk this year even after having a successful game critically but not in terms of sale which is sad because I think this move is about selling more more than anything else.

I'm sorry ,but I dont see any long drawn out animations. At first I thought RTP in a basketball game was the "future" but watching the games side-by-side(so to speak) maybe canned animations is the better choice for a basketball game. Ofcourse I havent played Elite yet but visually Elites look like a step or two backwards.

The ball handling and shooting off the dribble look much better in Live 10, far more natural.

They were very responsive too...more so than any basketball game to date.

                  Live 10

1:35 - Great box out and rebound by Shard.

1:46 - 1:50 - nice walk up animation from Conley, really ads to the feel of an NBA game, not seeing that type of thing in 11 so far.

Next Orlando possession - very cool set-up looking dribble for Nelson, nice curl by Pietrus and then a good dive and shot for Nelson, all fluid except for the slight hitch in the jumpshot.

2:24 - Check out Randolph(i believe) pointing out other players while Conley is dribbling, it gives the players personality, and I didn't see any thing like that in the 11 video.

2:57 Another smooth looking rebound from Howard.

3:24 - Great sequence here with Carter trying to use the set-up dribble and then OJ poking the ball out during the proper time.

3:56 - Check Rudy Gay get proper position in front of his man and extend to get that offensive board.

4:18 - manual double team split, control looked good there.

Just some of the things animation wise that I enjoyed from live 10, that I'm not seeing so far from elite 11

If every body didn't complain about players being too "shiny" or covered in baby oil last year we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Elite players skin texture looks way off, no light reflecting or sweat..... Compared to Live 10.... This is the only thing that really sticks out to me watching both videos side by side.

Much smoother, better graphic, less robotic, and better mid-air collisions.

Live 10 looks significantly better. Elite looks like something circa 2006. imo, control in '10 wasn't so bad that it needed to look like it does now

looks to me like EA just latched onto the "physics" and "control" buzzwords in an effort to fill an area they thought the competition wouldn't be in rather than stepping it up all the way around. it's backfiring. for a lot of people, the physics turned out to be less than what they expected (some Backbreaker ish) and their disdain for animations was grossly overestimated by EA

live 10 was not successful critically at all. it had better things in it then 08 and 09. for sure. but it was still a long way to go. anyone who thought live 10';s controlls were cool and all that needed to be added was more animations just wants a shiney penny. i'm looking for a diamond. right now its in the rough. time to polish that baby.

I was stating this same thing to my friend today. It really did remind me of Sony's title in the graphics department.

I really was hoping EA was going to build upon Live 10s foundation which I thought was a great step in the right direction. Coming into this year I was actually looking forward to seeing what EA had to offer, but I just been turned off by the new direction it has taken. Now I will not say this game will not be enjoyable for a nice amount of people but for me it just didn't catch my attention besides the become legendary mode and the EASBA mode, and after watching the last couple of videos, I just don't find myself getting into this game, so I have to agree with Behindshadows in saying it looks like EA has taken a step backwards...just my opinion on things.

But in all fairness though, I'm going to try out the demo and see how this game plays, that way I can get some type of direction of where the game will be at when next year comes around.

I understand that being a developer for Elite, you have actually played the game extensively and know a lot more about what's going on under the hood as well as a greater understanding of the controls but when it comes down to it your a gamer just like us. You may think that the new controls are the future of basketball gaming and maybe they are but when I look at Elite, what I see is a game that looks like it is from the last generation.

I really respect your hard work and what you do. I plan on trying Elite when the demo comes out because I always give it a chance but when I watch a game that looks like this It doesn't make me excited at all for the game. First impressions mean a lot and with games first impressions are seeing gameplay footage for the first time without being able to play it. You can tell us we should try it before we judge but that isn't going to change the way the game looks.
