what would solve this whole mess is if EA provided an option to turn the CAP off as it does in Madden.

I simmed one year and Kobe and Rasheed were FAs. Odd thing was, they didnt get resigned until the season began and they were back on LA and Portland...

This may be some random quirky thing. On thing's for sure, we're definitely getting different results.

I've been reading that all over the place where they would be FA's at seasons end but then resign with there old teams like you mentioned with Kobe.

Am I the only one who saw the same thing happen in Live 2003 and Live 2002? Clearly this isn't a bug, it has been a persistent problem within the Live series. I haven't owned either game but played some multiplayer franchises with friends. Everyone is acting like this is some freak thing that just started happening, but if you played franchises in previous Live games this whole "bug" is quite familiar. The major problem in this game is the fact that after one year pretty much every team is way the hell over the cap, only allowing you to resign your players (if they want to stay) and draft new ones.

Interesting how I already mentioned this, but in a thread of this size too many posts get lost in the shuffle (why I hate stickies with a passion).

From what I'm reading in this thread, it seems like the ONLY difference in this year and last year is the fact that the game will let the user get a big name free-agent if he so chooses. Last year and the year before the computer pulled a Martha Stewart and snagged the players before you could, because chances are your team was over the cap as well.

But it simply seems like this year, the CPU gives you a shot to sign the players before they are signed to CPU teams. Started to flip when I saw this, but now it's not as bad as I initially though.

This is one of the best ideas I've heard. Has anybody tried this? I've read a lot of these complaint threads on MM so I came here since more people discuss live. I'll buy this game later tonight and help you guys with a work around. But what Menace said sounds pretty good.
