I think the separation of the "shot" buttons is the reason for this. Once committed to a dunk or layup, how often have you seen an NBA player pass? This is not a common occurrence. Passing out of a regular "shot", yes (i.e., the "jump pass", which does happen). But once a player launches off his opposite foot and is going strong to the rack, he is either going to complete the basket, get fouled, or get rejected. Not a problem, IMO.

I totally agree. I HATE how much jump-passing and passing out of dunks and layups there always is when you play online. How often do you see a player committ to taking a jumper and then dish out of it at the last second? Let alone out of dunks? Please. I'm happy with passing out of jumpers and not out of dunks. Adds yet another level of thought required to play this game. Unreal.

very good point. Passing out of dunks is just plain lame. I actually felt like an idiot myself when i did it in LIVE 2003, it's like TMac rises up, pumps the ball behind his head with both hands, then magically, at the last second, passes it backwards back out to the top of the 3 point arc!! yup, that was lame.

Thats what the jump stop/ pro hop is there for. In the past we would drive to the lane and the animation of going to hop was the way to get that actual PG gaurd drive and dish as the Defesne would only colapse because you were actually a threat going to the goal.

The new move now is the way to get to the whole and either pass out or dunk/layup and shot. Players rarely pass out of a layup but they do pass during the actual move towards the lane and basket.
